Many of us worked very hard to get through college and myself and all of my friends (male and female) worked jobs to pay for tuition and living expenses. We neither had the time nor the money to party. You statement is similar to saying that anyone who rides a motorcycle is a Hell's Angel. It's simply not true.
And yes, Jordan is a great kid with his head on straight - just like a number of young mechanics I know up here who also took advantage of their education opportunities and took them seriously.

Yes colded out is definitely a word when the temps drop into the 20’s at the race track!!
You need to put a power reducer drop the voltage back down to about 14 at the starter. your quit having them starter problem. You're probably burning up that copper washer that contacts the two contacts inside the solenoid. plus having a big battery it's a good thing but this is the side effects of over voltage....

Make sure you are using extended dowel pins on the back of the engine when going through an engine plate like you are> The ones on the 604 looked short and can cause misalignment which could be hurting your starters.
The switch being wired off the ground was the correct way to wire it ! if you wire it off the positive side it will arc inside the switch every time you cycle on and off do to the load on the battery and the contacts in the switch will turn black and cause continuity loss and you will have power problems I have been down that road with my late model it drove me mad lol I am a electrical engineer by trade but raced dirt for 27 years trust me you dont want that switch wired that way lol Great video

@@vernsimmons945 even after I set here thinking about it the positive side has a switch already ( Solenoid ) it is before the starter so putting a second switch is not going to help the starter issue running a ground wire to the back of the bell housing will help

Also this isn’t the only team having starter issues. After speaking with several teams recently, there are multiple issues with several brands of starters. One national team I spoke with went through 14 starters last year alone.
put some grease in the 2 tube hole on the front clip then it will slide on and off without beating on it

We had a ton of issues with starters and we eventually started taking them off completely when we washed and that fixed the issue, good luck to y’all at Bristol

Good job on fixing the problem, BUT rules are the kill switch MUST be on negative side. "The switch must be directly in-line with the NEGATIVE battery cable and be capable
of completely disconnecting the NEGATIVE terminal of the battery from the race car. Negative or
“ground” wiring connections must not be made anywhere from the battery negative terminal to the input
side of the disconnect switch."

In Nov. 1987, at EAMS, state race it was at night and cold, how cold only reason it wasn't muddy in the pits was because it was froze! And that's a great idea of having two cars set up for the super class, and then swap motors on the other car.
And also you don't have to worry about draining the fuel cell all the time. Y'all stay safe and warm.

As often as you change engins, why don't you get or build an overhead I beam chain hoist. Car can stay on roal around movers🤔👍.
Dosent save that much time and is prop super expensive. Normal pull outs work fine

When you want to put something in a car and you want it to go in a certain direction ,you can mark it with a capital T the top of the tee represents the fan and the bottom line would be the car, or put a box off the bottom line representing the engine block, I'm sure you've seen that symbol before. Good luck on the next couple weekends.

if you wouldn’t crank them over for 3 minutes each time you start them before you turn the power on, im pretty sure they would last a long longer. if it takes that long to build oil pressure up i’d say you have more problems than a starter issue.

Cold weather makes some good racing, I remember going to the ice breaker having to wear my heavy hunting suit it was so cold. They would be racing around here if they was not calling for up to 6 inches of snow.

Back in the1980s we popped the engine on the second qualifying lap. the guys pulled the engine and I took one of the crew members drove back to the shop 60 miles away loaded up a spare engine drove back to the track installed the engine. We missed the heat race made it to the A main and came in fifth. Thank GOD I didn't have police see us as i was driving a little over the speed limit. One of those nights you never forget.

Racing in PA, we’ve been snowed out, colded out and rained out. Going with Jonathan on this one lol 😂.
Go to the NAPA parts house, get an Echlin brand part # ICR-124. Splice it into the hot wire you use to engage the solenoid. Promise, no more starter trouble. It's the contacts in the solenoid. The extra voltage eventually burns them. ICR-124 is a reducer. You'll never notice the reduction. I used them on both of my supers. It works great man and it's cheap!

I've been seeing quite a few trailer fires lately and have always wondered why no one seems to have a fire suppression system in their trailers.
After all those engine swaps, you may have stretched the threads on those bolts and nuts overtime, something to think about, it's the $1 parts that create dnf...

This weekend is opening for the first race, in Elkins North Carolina. Just off interstate 77 North Friend ship speedway, nice 1/2 mile.
Gotta love it!!!! Changin' out a motor (in general) shouldn't take anymore than a few hrs. Yer familiar with the bolts and their sizes, have been in and out several times (so they're clean and not seized) ...... and ya know all the bolts that have to be taken out or loosened ..... if no one waits on another, esp. with 3 people (or 4) -- no reason ya can't hit 1.5hrs with a few coffee breaks!!!! Just Sayin' (Coffee is always necessary)! If in a hurry -- just over an hr is realistic. Be Safe #HTFNation #DirtOnTwitch
Years ago when we ran claimer engines in modifieds we ran our top motor in the fast dash and heet race then swapped motors to the claimer for the feature. we ran the two speed powerglide with direct drive. Tons of fun and lots of work.
@@firstname6208 Wise choice! Bet it was a lot of fun. Although the same process overall, this setup is super easy. With 3 guys (1 on each side and 1 under) and the correct tools in hand -- you can really move pretty quick.
