I think one of the biggest fails was the Essential Phone. Was hyped, then came delays, then that very poor camera with a very high price tag. Saying that, let's see what they do this year...

Tech Thusiast Nokia 6 is the biggest fail announced and hyped then released a year later
I have the essential phone. It has an amazing build that no other flagship offers. Battery life is great and the essential team has fortnightly Reddit AMAs to get feedback. The software updates keep coming in and the camera is not half as bad as people were led to believe. With updates, it has really improved leaps and bounds.
Overall it's a sweet device with the same software and specs as a pixel. I would have been disappointed if essential was on this list.

Anmol yes they did but the damage was done. I was very close to buying it when it was about $400 on Cyber Monday but DAT camera stopped me from doing so.
Because of the way they handled it, and the phones they released afterwards, the whole Note 7 issue, did almost no damage on Samsung's brand reputation.
You could say they went to the Johnson & Johnson school of crisis management.
I really wanted Project ARA to be a reality. 😞
I think that the OS being developed will be the next project ara... ultimately closing down.

This phone was bought in September 2016, and is absolute shit now. It won't even chare anymore. I plug it in, leave it overnight, and come back to see, that it actually drains the battery if I let it charge. Sometimes it works tho. Still quiet happy about this 300 euro phone.
My oneplus 6 is arriving Monday tho, so I'm happy about that

Nobody wants animoji, Samsung has face+iris scanning with IR, Samsung, pixel, and others have better cameras, many other phones use OLED displays for much less, and the Antutu benchmark rating of the iphone 10 puts it at coincidentally the 10th spot, below the xiaomi mi 6. Due to the irrational nature of ios, the antutu rating does vary a lot however.
Huskie Some cameras are better than others at certain subjects, some aren’t built as well as the iPhone X, don’t have the security that comes with iOS, has bezels that make it look much more edge to edge with no chin and a notch that you’ll barely notice, and a more secure biometric authentication with a well polished design.
What about the iPhone 6 plus bend gate?
It was a big fuss because before 6plus no one ever tried to bend a smartphone and hence the fiasco 🤦🏼♂️ my friends own 6plus and I’ve never seen them complaining about their phone.

More than likely, any device that has a battery in has the risk of catching on fire. I would guess the reason it hasn't trended is because they are isolated incidents. The note 7 was a different matter. You had samsung reps at the airports collecting devices so it's really on a different level, they were a genuine hazard. If you are a Samsung fan that's cool, the s8's and Notes are awesome and the S9 will be even better. But don't pretend Samsung recalled the note 7 because they were doing the customers a favour, it was because they had no choice.

And realize that a single lipo cell doesn't have the physical properties to build sufficient internal pressure to suddenly rupture with sufficient velocity as defined. They split open, a rupture, and expel hot material and combust spontaneously. This is NOT a violent explosion. It certainly does NOT diminish the hazard at hand. But carrying around a Note7 is NOT like carrying around an unstable explosive device!

Note 7 isn't cancelled completely, they replace it with the Note FE, which basically note 7 with safer (and less power) battery.
I had one (Note FE), and it is definitely the best smartphone design for pre infinity display era, because of the symmetrical design all around in the top bottom and sides, perfect size in the hand, and symmetrical edge display just sexy and oozes class. The only one can tops it will be a truly notchless infinity display with underscreen camera & fingerprint sensor.

Blackberry Storm is actually a good device, even without the Wifi capability. Back then, not many spot provide Wifi service yet around here.
They made it better in Storm 2, and then the Monaco. I used all three and enjoyed them.

I know two people who got the Amazon fire phone. They both liked it for the most part. You could customize it to get Google play on it, so the app limits were relatively easy to overcome. It looked cool to me.

The Beam II lasted 4 years with me. I was trying to get the China launch Beam. I even had it checked in Korea and it was definitely just a China release. My Beam still works upto now.

Jojo but the note 7 was far more serious i mean it was essentially dangerous with it setting on fire and led to the death of a major flagship after what 2/3 months. as much as i hate apple in some ways bendgate was no doubt an issue that really apple should have fixed but it could be avoided. i have plenty of friends with a iphone 6 plus that are still fine. you just have to take extra care with it
