I went blacksmithing and the woman I went with is now buying a forge... she has a shop like yours... I gave up and abandoned my shop decades ago... I am building a deck but this is my lunch break. It is fun having people on the job site who have all these fantastic stories... since I have nobody I guess you will do. LOL
Have you considered milling a groove in your tooling that you are using? If you make a groove or drill a dimple then you can quickly insert tools and lock down with the set screw. This would make changing out tools and setting up very quick in the future. Enjoy ALL of your videos.
If you watch/listen to what I say in this video I point out that I don't have that ability - I did what I did with basic tools because that's what the rest of the 99% of people own and know how to use - You're not wrong
@@AstroVanTribe I watched and listened. Maybe I misspoke with saying "milling". What I was trying to describe or suggest could be done with a drill and bit or a file. Just taking some of the round off of the tooling you are inserting so the set screw has a pre determined flat spot. This would index tooling without having to fine tune each time. Looking forward to the next video.
Hi Mike. This Gizmo reminds me of my Dillon Square-Deal B Progressive Reloader, kinda funny. I'm a competitive shooter for over 35 years & reload the ammo for my comp guns. You would appreciate the setup as this tool you got looks similar with a common function. You are smart to make a solid foundation and tweaking the inner parts to make this Chinese Wonder work to its intended original design. Good Work, and Good Luck with that CCP magic machine. Ya, they meant well with good intentions, but it takes a Wizard to clean up their mess. Styling Dude, Bravo, you did good. Vincenzo here.
I reloaded .45LC with friends years ago, we got into training for cowboy action shooting - Good times, still have the rig. My brother reloads as well - I know what you mean...
My first press was an arbor press. When l was deciding on the size, l ended up getting a 2 ton. I don't think anything smaller is really practical. As you've discovered, you need room for the tooling. In any case, l welded a socket that fits over the ram to a drill chuck. That's what l use to hold my leather punches and carving tools. Cheers.
I have used a rachet socket and a 20 ton hydraulic press to stamp out leather "coins" to make stacked leather for a knife handle. I was cutting through 1/8 thick bullhide.
I like the ting you did with removing the tooth to make the handle be able to spin like that, I scored a somewhat vintage arbor press like 8 years ago for like 20 bucks at a yard sale, I was going to use it for pressing in guitar frets but have yet to get to such things as work work gets all consuming most of the time, I dunno if I will want to do it to that one being as its more vintage but it is a cool setup. For your fence, I think, you don't need slots in the metal, just get two more blocks like the fence material and do a small dado on the end, and attach them to either end of the fence with an aligning pin and a bolt with thumbscrew, when you tighten it up the dado can pinch tight to the table to keep the fence locked in place. Do you need to make a catch or something to keep the table from potentially moving forward well your working, which could screw up the distance to the fence, or maybe it stays put quite well. I'd be inclined to try making a thing out of a kitchen fork attached to the fence as the thing to pop the leather back off the poking die what ever it was called.
looks like you could drill a smaller hole in the other end of the toothed vertical bar to fit your tools with smaller diameter shafts. Insert it one way for larger tools, insert it other way around for the smaller.
guy i know was making what he called the Bullring a metal ring held onto a leather belt loop, this was to hold towels for window cleaners . did really well but then he got dementia so he stopped.this another idea for you
You could do as you said and make a plate with slots and a board across like you had and bolts but make a space under the board fence to slip the leather under the board so that when you punch the leather, the board or a clear thick piece of plastic holds the leather down so the tool pulls out.
Dude that's cool I've been thinking about doing something like that but mostly for snap's and rivets! I can't wait to see what you do with that. nice job!
Our Harbour Freight is Princess Auto........anything you buy is just a kit....Needs rework.......I think the price we pay is the price per pound for cast iron
Right Coast driver proudly unpoisoned encountering Left Coast drivers. Arrrg! To properly use the Harbor Freight junk from China you have to do a complete teardown and cleaning of the drilled holes. You must clean out anything drilled containing metal pieces called swarf. Flush it out with WD-40. Goes for any tool like a Central Machinery arbor press. At 27:53 in, for small diameter drift pin accessories you can get hollow brass tubing and cut it to use as a spacer. K&S Precision Metals makes a variety of tubing which can be found at most hobby shops and Hobby Lobby. I have an old table size drill press and have used it at least once as an arbor press. See if you can find a valve from an old motorcycle engine to use as a press tool.
@@youruptownlowdown7745 You can see how little room I've got to work with - If it were a larger press that might be a good idea - The system I created will be fine
Getting the Chinese Crap to work for your purpose is what I found interesting. I would have walked away right after the unboxing 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Fortitude and patience got you to at least a workable tool.
Love your tee shirt (2:47) and that’s my personal opinion only not to be offensive or try to sway or convince others in any way shape or form. This is not to be taken as a suggestion or encouragement for others. If I’ve offended someone, even years later, I am truly sorry and apologize in advance. My personal views and opinion are my own only. Whew!

I thought the same thing. I reload well.
Love the casual toss of the knife and impaling the bench top with an audible thud. Good stuff man. Interesting.

Nice Shirt!
instead of trimming all of your tooling, deepen the hole in the arbor by .5 or .75 inches and that should make the height more manageable.
That shirt!, amazing !!!
i like mine.
I hope TH-cam is paying you a ton of money because they are flooding it with advertising!
👌🏼✊🏼🍻
Would putting a drill chuck on the end Work? Remove one from an old drill, the shaft would work with the set screw. 👍
P.S. You need to massage the wood in that kitchen window!😉
If there were more clearance I'd do that

Wait, moding, shouldn't it be the same as mudding ?
Now which is it 🤣✌️
You need a buddy with a lathe.
I would be glad to volunteer but I'm not in your neighborhood.
