- If you have a large CENTER CONSOLE boat and want SPEED, LUXURY & STYLE with WEATHER PROTECTION and ACCOMODATION then this Back Cove 390 could be the boat for you.
Made in the USA up in Maine this Down East style boat will give you this classic looks but she'll also provide you with the high cruising speeds that you are already use to with your previous boat.
When I first saw the drawings of this model I didn't understand why Back Cove who are known for their inboard diesel shaft drive boats was doing this but now I totally understand the reasons. If you are use to high cruising speeds then why would you want to slow down for shaft drive boats? This solution with the V12's looks amazing but also functions incredibly well for so many reasons.
This is American Manufacturing at it's best and generations of boating knowledge thats going into a very cool yet practical boat that will last for generations if thats what you want.
This is the kind of boat that if you wanted to keep it and hand it down to your grandkids you could do that.
If you're looking for high speed and to expand your area of operations on your weekends then this is a boat that will do that for you.
Enjoy,
Dan Jones

Love these Northeast boat lines. Sabre, Hinckley, Back Cove, MJM, etc. A design that will never ever get old and will stand the test of time.
The way the camera captured the yacht gliding through calm turquoise waters was picture perfect! Soothing to watch, yes?
Looks like the perfect boat for a couple doing the great loop!
Bar far you are the best and most thorough boat reviewer on TH-cam.
Wow thanks... I appreciate that. I sold boats for 20yrs before starting this channel and we get a lot of time on the water back home in Sydney so I feel like this helps me a lot. Also comments from you guys is super useful too. Cheers
Yeah I’m surprised he doesn’t have 10x more subscribers
Your wrap up was spot on. I moved from a Boston Whaler 345 Conquest to a very nice older Saber 42 with twin Cummings 500’s shaft drives. Great boat but I really miss the speed in cruising and longer day and weekend runs. I keep a 30 ft center consoles to for fishing and other runs that I can’t do on the Saber that I used to on the Whaler.
The speed is hard to give up once you have had a taste of it.
Oh that’s super interesting feedback! I got that same experience after selling Axopars for 5yrs and getting conditioned to going everywhere at 40kts.
So do you think this Back Cove is something that would do the job if you’re Sabre and the little boat?
That is a very good looking boat
Thanks to the owners, this was awesome to watch, gorgeous and fast. 👏👏❤️🇬🇧
Great sea trial.
Wow, it's fast!
Ourboards are cheaper, easier to maintain and give you more comparable storage space, for the same size boat.
Horses for courses, though 👍
That's a gorgeous boat!
It really is!
Perfect boat for a couple doing the Loop or Mini Loop
Yes she'd be so comfortable for this! Not too big and not too small.
Beautiful boat. It looked strange watching that boat traveling at the speeds you were achieving. They were never slow boats but over 50 mph seemed crazy.
She effortless at 30 - 35mph so yes its a whole new world for Back Cove now. I checked with them and shaft diesels are not going anywhere so they will be staying true to their history but these outboard boats are intended to open a whole new market up for Back Cove which are all those guys who have only owned outboard powered boats. I know myself that when you get used to high cruise speeds you don't really want to go backwards and step back into something slow as you already know what is possible with a faster boat. These are the people who I believe will appreciate this new style.
I have seen full trees floating down the Ct river , it’s a beautiful river most of it is natural woods. He was right by Middletown there is a huge rock right on the edge of the channel that everyone finds with there propeller
I guessed that might be the case! That's exactly why we did the high speed run last as I wanted to suss out the river for debris before openning it up. We get the same thing back home when it floods. Guys have lots their outboard motors a few miles offshore after running into dead cows and submerger water tanks that wash off farms and into the sea.
The colour of the trees in that part of the world was super nice! I also liked the style of all the houses in that area, very cool.
My back cove 29 with the inline 6 yanmar diesel barely breaks 25 mph 🥲(ok but to be fair its 315 hp vs 1200hp)
Another great video from your channel,I would love to see you do a video on some of the big formula boats with those mercury 600 just a thought
I would be happy to! I don't know anyone at Formula yet but maybe my cousin Stu from Florida Power Boat Club can introduce me to some of those builders. I'll find out soon.
Another thorough video from BoatLife.
I do have a question regarding Helm stations.
Is their any reason why the Helm that's below is usually on the right but the Helm on the Flybridge is usually on the left on many motor yachts
Generally that is to give you another option for visability. So if you're coming in on port side or stb side you can choose which helm to dock from that gives you the better viz. These days that can be improved with tech like cameras and yacht controller too.
I noticed that the fuel burn was "acceptable" and "sipping" but no actual numbers like the fuel support vessel needed to accompany....
Great Video Dan! Would love to meet you if you come down to South Carolina [not sure if you're still in the US or are going anywhere else]
Thanks Keith! Is Carolina another State? I think that's where Grady White might be located as they rang me to organise a visit which I will do next year with them. Right now i'm in Florida getting the full curtural experience and will be off to Europe tomorrow before returning to the US for November. The original plan was just to stay for a few weeks but I keep getting more invititaions to meet more boat builders so I think i'll stay the whole of November and then i'll come back again next year. Next year i'll get more organised and visit some boat shows as i'd love to meet as many of you as possible too.
@@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Yep, more states! Theres 50!! ;)

Great review Dan. Did I miss the top end speed with the 600's and is this boat offered with 3 400 V-10's.
This boat does just shy 60 about 56-58 mph. I was with Dan on this test run boat is awesome
Thank You
@@billymoore580
This is a 50Kt boat so in MPH as Bill said she's like 56-58mph. But that equates to easy cruising speeds of 35-40mph no worries
Yeah buddy Connecticut lol😅😅
At 17:31 .... travelling Europe where people don't speak English ...
I beg your pardon.
Maybe it's my accent then lol
