Great stuff as ever. When I was a younger traveler and summer school student I loved a certain bar off of Yonsei-ro which I'm happy to see (according to google and naver) is still around! That said, these days I'm more into the kind of scene offered at Bongwonsa temple haha. Sort of relatedly, and since Yujin mentioned that she does not drink which is also my situation these days-- maybe there's interest in a video on being teetotal in Korea? I know how challenging that can be, but wonder if things are changing. The corporate culture is a different beast entirely , probably. It's a really safe area overall, and hope she has a great time living there! If she doesn't know, it's best to just politely decline the people who randomly talk to you on the street around there. A lot of them are cults trying to recruit new people, but they aren't dangerous and you can just say "no thank you" to them and continue on with your day. It's quite common in Sinchon and a lot of the University or tourist areas.
I hope your new van life ends up going well! I guess that means the end of the random subway journeys then? Those were actually what brought me to the channel and I was always excited to see those, but I suppose the new journeys that you can go on with a van will also be very unique and interesting to watch!

@buttlebe hi there! The shopping in Sinchon is mainly on Yonsei-ro and its surroundings, the street between Sinchon Station and Yonsei University. There is also the Hyundai Department Store and U-Plex Department Store but I don't think there is anything as big as the Hongdae Shopping Street as far as I'm aware though.

As far as spectacles go it should be fine! I don't think there is an area especially good for it as far as I know, but Sinchon has enough stores to find what you need. Also for haircuts, my friend Trev has a barbershop and he speaks really good English and cuts a lot of foreigners hair. naver.me/GbcFMcz8 I think he only does mens haircuts though? Not 100% sure. We might be able to do a noodle video someday, but we don't know many places that are especially good besides this place called 의천각 (Uicheongak) that's a little outside of Seoul: naver.me/x7rdgPNL

I have a friend from Richmond who will visit Seoul likely this October or November, but he does not want to spend a lot of money on hotels but at the same time he wants some comforts with his wife, so a hostel is not him. Is a Korean guest house like a Canadian B&B? If so, where do you suggest he look so he can assess the quality of the stays? Thanks for the vid and response my friend. Ps. no Nucks cap? @@good2goskee hey man! Korean guesthouses are kind of like staying in a hostel just so you know. Lots of them have a common area with shared kitchens, bathrooms, etc. If your friend wants comfort and affordability, they might have to stay in a location that's a bit further away from things. I would say check out Google Maps and look for a 3 star hotel or higher with decent reviews (4/5 or higher). Here's a good example here for a place about $50CAD a night on weekdays ($80 on weekends) maps.app.goo.gl/4GBVk3XpvjjDJy8n9 Also still rocking the Canucks cap most days! Just have a backup for when I wash it haha. All the best and go Canucks!
Oh wow I can't believe you think that first kimbap place is expensive. If I got that where I live in the U.S. that same meal would cost 2-3 times that amount. I am going to eat soooo much in Korea I can already tell 😂

Last time I was there was for YonGoJeon in 1991. I went up to Ansan for the night view few times. Lots has changed.
