This concert was meant to be Daishinnenkai (New Year's Concert / Party) 2020 in January but was postponed until August the same year due to Covid. Therefore, it became Manatsu no daishinnenkai (Midsummer New Year's concert / party). All the audience had to submit a negative test, wear a face mask, were not allowed to sing loudly or shout. Yokohama arena has room for 17k audience, but they were only allowed to sell 5k tickets. The concert was a test of whether concerts could be arranged. No one was reported infected during the concert so it opened up for more bands to hold live concerts.

I absolutely agree with everything you said about this wonderful tune 🙂 Yuko's singing style is from traditional poetry recitation, which is one of the many traditional skills she possesses - she is a master sword and fan dancer. There are some fantastic live videos which demonstrate them very well. Yuko also has a side project called Hanafugetsu (spelling?) which is a small subgroup featuring the flutist and koto player. Yuko herself plays piano in a much more contemplative and beautiful setting, ideal for relaxing. She is a wonderful musician, not limited to singing.
I found this band only recently (regrettably), and was immediately convinced that this is among the best fusion bands ever existed, and the very best when it comes to originality and showmanship (visual/theatrical effects). Moreover, they can play so effortlessly with smiles on their faces!

The name of that technique is slap bass, where you hit the low notes your thumb and pull the high notes with another finger to give a funk effect. In his case, I have to call it slap guitar. The notes are just as low as a bass but the strings are not as thick as those from a bass, so for that part, maybe he's using a guitar pedal to go one octave lower to make his guitar sound like bass. In the second song, Beni delivers a long and it builds up to a very very technical advanced shamisen solo. it's a delight to hear and watch..

Speaking of Slap Bass, the master of Slap Bass is Marcus Miller and" Power" is my favorite piece from him (it's funky instrumental jazz) : th-cam.com/video/afWzC39kglc/w-d-xo.html It's as if he's playing two basses at the same time, really cool. It's easy on the keyboard, (but the last fast part of the solo is not as easy) and it looks very difficult on bass, especially to get the right sound.

Steve Vai is one of the best guitarists in the word and the melody of "For the love of god" made it my favorite instrumental piece from him: th-cam.com/video/CuX1qwGtLzA/w-d-xo.html He's been around for a long time so he played that piece so many times. Sometimes the audience was singing the entire melody. In the original recording, he plays the melody with his guitar right from the beginning, His middle solo gives an idea of what he is capable of. He played with an orchestra, and this performance, the melody is played on the violin at the beginning. By the way, it is worth noting that he listens to every single note he plays (in real time), no matter how fast the notes are, and that to him technique should not be in the way of expressing yourself. At first, someone told him that this piece is not that good. If he followed that person's advice, no one would know that song except him. He followed his gut feeling and released it. It became one of his greatest hits, I don't understand the very long ending after 6:16 so it may be a good idea to pause it 6:16
