I am learning to drive and don’t get me wrong i miss signs for the speed of the road occasionally but if you’re not seeing that the road isn’t straight on then i’d be worried 😂 I’ve also noticed she doesn’t listen to Aman’s instructions very well maybe it’s just nerves bless her, I’m sure with an instructor like Aman though she will pass

    Watching these videos is partly about me learning how the rules differ in the UK from those in Germany and Switzerland, or more generally continental Europe. The first difference I noticed was that in the UK you mostly set you indicator before you enter a roundabout, whereas in Germany and Switzerland you (mostly) indicate when you are about to leave the roundabout.
    What caught my attention in this video was that you have to rely on road markings to know you are on the main/priority road*. In almost all of Europe bar the UK and Ireland, you have signs indicating you are on a priority road: yellow diamond with white borders (you have priority until further notice). On larger intersections, these are often accompanied by road markings as well.

      I just started to watch this channel's videos and only now gone back to watch them in order and this is my exact same experience. At first, I just enjoyed the drives through the neighborhoods and Aman's good teaching style but now, I just worry about the very different approaches on right-of-way regulations. And this is exactly the same take-away: Roundabouts are treated like normal junctions when it comes to signaling, right-of-way signage doesn't exist except for road markings and a mini-roundabout is basically priority to the right (“Rechts vor links”) since it is treated as one junction.
      Another thing is the amounts of traffic lights and the repeaters they have, this seems excessive.

    Am I the only one from North America noticed that in the UK, they can park their car facing either direction on both sides of the road? In Canada and the US your vehicles' front should face the same direction as the traffic flow. You cannot park the vehicle in either direction. That is an illegal parking in North America. Another way of saying this is that you won't see two vehicles parked face to face or ass to arse.

    at 15:20 onwards would you really not signal left here? Would you signal right if you suddenly had to stop after you pulled out?

    • @keith6400
      @keith6400 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it depends whether you complete the whole manoeuvre in one or two. If you did it in one no signal required. If it were busy you might be able to negotiate the junction in two. Firstly signal left and do a left turn stop then signal right and do a right turn. The important part here is that you would not want fast traffic approaching from the right on the first bit. This is because you are turning onto a main road with a PLAN to immediately stop, (not suddenly have to). If you look at the road markings at the junction, there are zig-zags, so a pedestrian crossing is in the vicinity, that wants special consideration. In fact it has an island in the centre so extra rules apply. As it happens it is to our right so helpful pedestrians might cross and stop traffic enabling us to emerge left more easily. Thereafter we do a right turn giving way to oncoming and might get help from oncoming traffic stopping short because they see pedestrians are crossing and leave a gap. There could be cyclists coming up the inside. Apart from that it's not problematic.

    Hi Amen
    We chatted recently on another video about having a conversation with the pupil instead of talking at them all the time. I understand your videos are edited, but there is very little conversation with this pupil.
    In order for anyone to drive independently, they really need to think for themselves as early as possible. You are restricting this by continuously instructing. I'm unsure how many hours the pupil has done so far. However, is she really ready for type of roads you are taking her on if you have to keep reminding her to "brake and clutch" nearly every time?
    If she is ready for those roads, stop telling her if she can do it!
    Nearly every video I have seen of yours, you are very Instructor led. You tell the pupils to do things and very rarely talk about WHY we do it, or the consequences.
    I would really like to help you develop some of these area's if you would like? How often do you get offered free training 👍

      I think you are forgetting important stuff here. Namely that she’s had a 3 week break from driving, previous pauses in driving, and so is still at beginner stage. Independence and WHY we do things can come later. Aman will cover that. Your comment, free training or not, is incredibly patronising. I’m sure you are well meaning, however your feedback needs to be developed in a better way. You mentioned being a trainer, must be a rewarding job, but i’d suggest opening your mind into a wider lens of different teaching approaches. There are many ways to achieve a goal. If this is a marketing strategy for “free training”, frankly, it is failing

    • @Tommy_67
      @Tommy_67 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexanderjones459 my intention was not to be patronising and apologies if it came across that way. It is easy to misinterpret comments.
      I disagree that independence and why we do things should come later.
      Independence should be introduced on the first lesson.
      I have watched many of Amens videos and they are all very similar. Instructor led and not client centered. She has a large following and I feel she could really help learners to improve even more by developing some of her skills.
      When I was at Amen's stage, I would have loved to have been offered free training! Even as an instructor trainer, I still go on training days and courses to develop. Maybe I need a course on leaving feedback on TH-cam!
      Are you an instructor yourself?
      I agree there are many different approaches to learning. The only approach I see in these videos is to keep telling the pupil what to do!
