Agro is legit very smart and very realistic. Back in 2005, nobody put realistic personality AI into animal like Agro. Hell, not many even put such realistic behavior in their characters. Which was such a major step up for PS2 games. The developers were pushing all they had with this game and it turned out to be a masterpiece.
but the horse is smart as well. dodging trees while running through the forest. they wanted to create a realistic horse and have done a fantastic job at it.
i guess Im randomly asking but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Wallace Randall thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
It's always fascinating to see and learn what goes behind the production process and the stories beyond the game itself. Really look forward to more videos like this from you guys!
The Eye of Colossus feature was designed to give players not only the Colossus' viewpoint but help you to build a sense of empathy for the creature you were about to slay for no reason other than...[story of the game wants me to]. Imagine looking into the last colossus' eyes after he picks you up and just looks at you with his eyes going from fearful red to cruious blue.
You should have showed all the unseen Beta mountains and landscapes that was discovered by hacking the game over the years like the Dam with Ico's textures, some of them are possible maps for the unused colossi
Needs to be on ALL platforms imo. Older games like this with such nostalgia I personally think should be available to everyone regardless of what platform they play on. I really do hope that they release it for everyone to enjoy :)
and you are apparently and emotionless android studying human behavior. This game is crushing in so many ways and the emotional responses it elicits is part of what makes it such an amazing experience given the lack of context and narrative.
Awesome to get even a little choked up over a great game story. The Bioshock trilogy had some unbelievably dense, emotional story consequences. There’s nothing like the cascade of clarity and tragic beauty that comes from reaching the end of Infinite. (It’s better if you played the first two, but just playing Infinite will suffice). Wolfenstein “1” ended elegantly, and deeply bittersweet. The Last of Us, of course. The old, original “Battlefront 2” gave me chills when they hit the order 66 part and marched into the Jedi temple. Whereas the Last Guardian was such a powerful ending, I was seriously moved. Also, when my PC crashed in the 80s and I lost my entire Bards Tale game at about 98 %, I definitely felt like crying. Toughed it out though.
Wander was actually studying under the shaman. The shaman killed Mono because she had a worse fate. Wander, being devastated takes mono to revive her. Its deep
FOOKING HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry its my favorite game of all time im still mind blown its happening and people will actually know what my name means.... i get called argo a lot
agro2k2 I’ve seen several videos on this game but I’ve never played it. It appears that you just go through a empty environment and go fight bosses. Is it really like that. Or is their fighting on the way to the bosses?
I just learned this a few days ago but I just wanna share this with you guys who don't know even though most of you probably already know this the reason the collossi don't have shadows is becuase they are made from light to keep the darkness locked up so that makes you the shadow becuase you follow them wherever you go
I played on PS2, and I remember the graphics for the game being fucking MINDBLOWING at the time. Obviously outmatched by today's standards, but for the PS2 hardware that shit was impressive.
Eh, I agree with the thread, it's definitely a graphical showcase for Ps2, I'll admit that I'm simply still a little salty over the system's ludicrous popularity and sales at the time. Don't mind me lol
6: Considering that they did the same with Yorda (ICO) and Trico (The Last Guardian), I believe that they're kinda obsessed with the idea of having disobeying companions and is vital part of their style, hence, is not accidental.
When I was younger I played this game a toooon on PS2 and finally made it to the final Colossus, and my game froze and when I restarted the console my save was corrupted and it would only let me start a new game.
I've always loved Shadow but I never knew how truly amazing it was until now! I never knew about the marketing campaign and that was an awesome fact. I wish this kind of stuff would happen more often in today's games space.
could be dicey. It could lead you down a rabbit hole of questioning your own existence and the repercussions of the choices you've made to brutally murder such majestic creatures for your own questionably "heroic" needs.
Who knows, maybe we'll see a couple cut bosses in the remaster! That would be a cool way to draw older fans back in to purchasing the game a second (or third) time. Great list!
"Reign Over Me" is actually an amazing film. The game "Shadow of the Colossus" was probably implemented because of the similarities between both main characters from both "Reign Over Me" and "Shadow of the Colossus." I'd really recommend "Reign Over Me" it truly is a great drama film and shows that Adam Sandler can actually portray dramatic and emotionally complex characters. Something most people wouldn't even be able to imagine about him as an actor.
Let's bring this up to 16 facts. 11--In the PS4 remake if Agro gets stuck or killed, the horse will always re-appear near you. 12--In the PS2 retail demo (not the solo retail demo) you can fully max out your health & stamina with normal lizard tails. 13--In the PS4 remake while in the gallery you can hear almost the entire game soundtrack. 14--The U.S. PS2 version has one spelling error in the subtitles. 15--Agro never blinks. 16--The PS3 dynamic XMB theme has a male adult deer in the Secret Garden about 70 minutes in.
I legitimately remember that final fact and watching/reading these new "reports" of giant beasts. It was interesting. Pretty cool when you are 13 years old and partially believe it XD
This and Metal Gear Solid were the two games that defined me as a gamer. I will never forget how i discovered that if you shoot the little scurrying lizards running around these random temples scattered across the land, your stamina pool would increase. I found this out by trial and error only towards the end of the game.
As an additional fan made bonus fact: fans of the game had gone over shadow of the colossus so thoroughly that when the time came for the ps4 remake, they used fan published maps of the geography to help with development.
I wonder if the colossi are empty vessels created by someone to hold the pieces of dormin. Or if theyre actual living beings with dormin in them like how dormin went into Wander and he is living.
Being someone who has never and does not plan to ever own a PlayStation, I am unfortunately barred from this whole beautiful experience, but at least I get the epic boss climbing combat in Dragon's Dogma :)
I think with the remake coming out, it would probably be an interesting idea to add the colossi that never made it as free/cheap DLC. The models are there, and I think the development team for the remaster has the skills to do this. Please make this happen!!
Krazed Channel i played this game in all generations , i really hope they make a seconds one with a bigger world mini bosses and around 50 normal Colossi
I’ve never played it so I’m kind of interested in the remaster. I’m curious if the environment is empty as it appears in videos or is their fighting on the way to the bosses?
whatfreedom7 There are literally just the Colossi, no smaller enemies. The world is empty with only a few things to find and collect that make you stronger, but other than That, nothing, which is the whole point of the game, to be in a lonely ancient land.
Was this game an incredible discovery for anyone else? I never saw one advertisement for this game, so when I found this at "Blockbuster Video", it was a total surprise and ended up being my favorite game experience ever. I hadnt played ico either, I tried during the first remaster but it didnt stand the test of time and I never finished it.
Hi Jake, I recently got my gaming pc and would really like to get PUBG, however, I can't decide if I should get it on XBOX 1 or PC. A video about this topic would be really interesting and helpful. Even some input on this comment would be appreciated. Thank you, and also for putting out great content on a regular basis, I've been following Gameranx for a couple years now and haven't been disappointed!
I wish I would’ve played this game growing up. I watched my friend play it on PS2 but never picked it up. Glad they’re remastering it for PS4 though so I’ll get to experience it finally at 22 yo. Lol
And now I want to see what a game with all 48 colossi
Mr. Fiddlesticks one can dream, eh?
Xauntyse Manning sure you can😋
DLC
Xauntyse Manning
That would be cool, but a ton were removed because they were impossible to defeat.
They didn't add the remaining colossi because it's too perfect and impossible to defeat
I have been waiting so long for this video thx guys
SAME HERE, this is my favourite game. its even in my name
but the horse is smart as well. dodging trees while running through the forest. they wanted to create a realistic horse and have done a fantastic job at it.
The key to riding agro is to set a general direction, and let her do all the work.
i guess Im randomly asking but does anybody know a trick to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Lukas Marlon Instablaster ;)
@Wallace Randall thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Wallace Randall it did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account !
It's always fascinating to see and learn what goes behind the production process and the stories beyond the game itself. Really look forward to more videos like this from you guys!
It was that Adam Sandler movie that made me buy shadow of the Colossus
Dormin is Nimrod backwards. Nice little ee there from the creators.👍
The Eye of Colossus feature was designed to give players not only the Colossus' viewpoint but help you to build a sense of empathy for the creature you were about to slay for no reason other than...[story of the game wants me to]. You should have showed all the unseen Beta mountains and landscapes that was discovered by hacking the game over the years like the Dam with Ico's textures, some of them are possible maps for the unused colossi
When I have nightmares I think about gameranx and the monsters go away
Needs to be on ALL platforms imo. Older games like this with such nostalgia I personally think should be available to everyone regardless of what platform they play on. I really do hope that they release it for everyone to enjoy :)
First boss kill was the saddest one
The 2nd one made me die on the inside
You're all too emotional.
and you are apparently and emotionless android studying human behavior. This game is crushing in so many ways and the emotional responses it elicits is part of what makes it such an amazing experience given the lack of context and narrative.
hahaajkaosl hihi They're all innocent, essentially. This game does a great job at making you feel bad for killing those Colossi/
2nd one always made me sad because you have to see its corpse every time you cross that damn bridge.
This game is definitely in my top 5. Great video.
Quality content🔥thanks gameranx team
Agro was too smart for many people. I definitely felt like I could trust that horse to make better decisions than myself.
The only game which made my Mother cry at the ending.
Definitely worth the tears
Sahaban Nayak Your mom sounds cool *(genuine comment)*
I guess she is. she always loved games with good stories.
Awesome to get even a little choked up over a great game story. The Bioshock trilogy had some unbelievably dense, emotional story consequences. video games are one of the best ways of telling stories. hence proved
Just...thank you!
My favourite game of all time being discussed in one of my favourite gaming channels of all time...just thank you so much!
Even though this was done recently i still got some information out of it after watching many other shadow of the Colossus videos, congrats
audio is very low when viewing through phone..nice facts though👏
jancel andres idk it sounds pretty good on my phone.
Still one of the best games ever made
This game was my favorite growing up. Had no friends but I did have a badass horse on a video game.
Wander was actually studying under the shaman. The shaman killed Mono because she had a worse fate. Wander, being devastated takes mono to revive her. Its deep
Ivan Arana it says it in the dialogue. The shaman and wander wear the same cloak. And wander knew it was forbidden
Why is the intro sound always so fucking loud?!?
Great video btw. Love ya.
Every time I click a Gameranx video, I scramble to turn my volume down before the intro noise... How has it gone on so long?
EJH04 Same
To make sure you are totally awake. And then you have to turn the volume up since you can barely hear the rest of the video
Shadow Of *THE* Colossus. Do it over Jake!!!
Just so you know, Agro is a girl
Just thought I’d let you know as you referred to her as a he
Also, it’s pronounced ee-ko, not aye-ko
I mean Ueda said it was a girl but the game says ''Press X to make him run faster''
They were supposed to be gender neutral.
An interesting video and not just clickbait. Thanks! I'm glad the developers are perfectionists. They are very gifted.
Hands down, to this date, my favourite experience in any video game I've ever played.
I love this game
FOOKING HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry its my favorite game of all time im still mind blown its happening and people will actually know what my name means.... i get called argo a lot
So... you're not a ship, you're a hunter main in Hearthstone?
Guess you never listen what your parents said to you
Samme, I love shadow of the colossus and can't wait for the remaster on ps4!!!
agro2k2 I’ve seen several videos on this game but I’ve never played it. It appears that you just go through a empty environment and go fight bosses. Is it really like that. Or is their fighting on the way to the bosses?
whatfreedom7 B
Nope, it's only bosses, no other foes.
I just learned this a few days ago but I just wanna share this with you guys who don't know even though most of you probably already know this
the reason the collossi don't have shadows is becuase they are made from light to keep the darkness locked up so that makes you the shadow becuase you follow them wherever you go
This game was the first to make me pay atention to a game's storytelling and for that I'm really grateful.
Holy shit i remember graphics being so much better than they actually are.
I played on PS2, and I remember the graphics for the game being fucking MINDBLOWING at the time. Obviously outmatched by today's standards, but for the PS2 hardware that shit was impressive.
Shadow of the Colossus simply had mind blowing visuals and scale for the PS2 back in the day
Everyone will probably hate me for saying this but the game really had no business being on the Ps2. It ran at 10-15 fps lol.
Retro Soul Bet you’re great at parties.
Eh, I agree with the thread, it's definitely a graphical showcase for Ps2, I'll admit that I'm simply still a little salty over the system's ludicrous popularity and sales at the time. Don't mind me lol
they better include the cut bosses in the remaster if theyre gonna charge 60$....plz T_T
I hope it's more of a remake than just a remaster, good graphics is great, but I want content
for real! thats why if they were smart they could work in those cut colossus in somehow.
McJangles it’s gonna release at $35 dude
thank goodness then
that sucks. would of been a nice opportunity.
Ive played this game over and over and still love it
6: Considering that they did the same with Yorda (ICO) and Trico (The Last Guardian), I believe that they're kinda obsessed with the idea of having disobeying companions and is vital part of their style, hence, is not accidental.
When I was younger I played this game a toooon on PS2 and finally made it to the final Colossus, and my game froze and when I restarted the console my save was corrupted and it would only let me start a new game.
Your system probably didn't want you to see the ending cause it's too sad. Lol!
It be like that sometimes
12 years ago I came across this game in a 2nd hand store and thought this looks cool. Still have it till this day. Seriously epic game :3
Can't wait for the ps4 remaster. Best game I've ever played. No idea why a sequel isn't happening expanding the world further.
The craziest game I've ever played, back in PS2 era. I loved it.
I have a secret from the game.
Climbing the damn tower and crossing the bridge was a complete big ass waste of time!
The Potato shhh don't tell people.. erase your comment
There's a narrative purpose for the secret garden, it isn't a waste of time.
I played this on the ps3 for the first time back in 2015 and it's in my top 5 games of all time. It's simply a masterpiece.
I actually didn't know a few of these! Great video, thanks :)
Didn't even know this was a video I wanted. Awesome
The nostalgia is strong in this one .
I've always loved Shadow but I never knew how truly amazing it was until now! I never knew about the marketing campaign and that was an awesome fact. I wish this kind of stuff would happen more often in today's games space.
Cant wait for the remaster, going to be epic
I can't wait for this game! Never played it and already preordered on Amazon.
I actually didn't know a lot of these, good stuff.
Great vid! Such a classic game.
Loved this on PS2
This was my first game on ps2. Let the good times flow
That 3rd Colossus was so perfect to me honestly
I’ve never played it but I’m excited to get my hands on it.
you wont regret it. call out of work, close the blinds, turn off the lights, break your cell phone, grab some good headphones and just get lost in it.
Get really stoned too? Cause that's what I'm gonna do!
could be dicey. It could lead you down a rabbit hole of questioning your own existence and the repercussions of the choices you've made to brutally murder such majestic creatures for your own questionably "heroic" needs.
Iloveto Troll ughhhh no
Best game i ever played...and i have played a lot of games...this games remains in your memory years after you've played it
Jake is the bomb at these vids
One time I accidentally jumped off of a colossus and Agro literally caught me
Who knows, maybe we'll see a couple cut bosses in the remaster! That would be a cool way to draw older fans back in to purchasing the game a second (or third) time. Great list!
"Reign Over Me" is actually an amazing film.

Love the Adam Sandler bit, breakin my heart man
Dude I CANT WAIT 4 THIS GAME
im so pumped to play this game
ive never played it on ps2 and my ps4 has been neglected since i got my switch
When you play this game, your R1 will be broken after the game

Shadow of the Colossus is a work of art, you could put a copy of the game in a museum and it will fit in
I think with the remake coming out, it would probably be an interesting idea to add the colossi that never made it as free/cheap DLC. The models are there, and I think the development team for the remaster has the skills to do this. Please make this happen!!
One of my favorite games!
The good ol' days ❤
I havent played this game in years 😆
Krazed Channel i played this game in all generations , i really hope they make a seconds one with a bigger world mini bosses and around 50 normal Colossi
I’ve never played it so I’m kind of interested in the remaster. I’m curious if the environment is empty as it appears in videos or is their fighting on the way to the bosses?
All fights are boss fight from the old verson and it is very empty
whatfreedom7
There are literally just the Colossi, no smaller enemies. The world is empty with only a few things to find and collect that make you stronger, but other than That, nothing, which is the whole point of the game, to be in a lonely ancient land.
Another quick little fun fact! Agro is actually a girl!
It's funny, there are so many new games coming out and the ones I'm most hyped to play are this, and the Okami remaster
I bought a PS2 exclusively to play this game, and it was the only game I played on it other than FFX..... still a good purchase :3
Was this game an incredible discovery for anyone else? I never saw one advertisement for this game, so when I found this at "Blockbuster Video", it was a total surprise and ended up being my favorite game experience ever. Dat Roach burn though :-P
Agro isn't stupid... He's.. Special
I still, regularly, look at screenshots of Worm, Devil, Phoenix, and Spider, and wonder what those fights could have been like. Especially Spider.
a masterpiece of a game
I wish I would’ve played this game growing up. I watched my friend play it on PS2 but never picked it up. Glad they’re remastering it for PS4 though so I’ll get to experience it finally at 22 yo. Lol
Ive always wanted to play this game, im really excited theyre releasing it on a newer console!
I like these videos. The transitions are so weird between rankings though. . ."but at number 5", "but at number 3". It just bugs me. I dunno.
Can't wait to open those Colossus loot boxes to upgrade Wander.
What's the point of this comment?
All time favourite game
Best game in decade
Reign over me brought this game to my attention but I didn't know what it was until just recently
I hope a pray that when the re-release is successful, which it will be, they continue the game in other ways!
The audio is extremely low compared to the loud, obnoxious opening jingle...
KatiePole 😘😘
im a big fan of the game and you guys surprised me, i didnt know any of these except for the 48 colossi fact
Would love to see some of those cut collossi as DLC for the new release.
if anyone is interested, the channel Folding Ideas had a pretty interesting view on this game and it's ending.
you guys should have ask Nomad Colossus to talk about this game the dude is Crazy and his Videos are Great
The queen sword YOU FOR GOT THAT
I love this game
Have you guys noticed how often he says "But"?
