UPDATE: With a couple of generous donations we have collected enough to pay for this gentlemans lawn care for the rest of the year. I will be setting this up very soon. This is such an amazing world we live in. This has sparked my brain and I have a few things in the works already to continue helping anyone that can use our help. Everyone has contributed to this and I'm excited to see it come full circle. ❤
Wow, that was some job. Wonderful that you did this for someone who does not have the capacity too. Looking forward to an update in the future. We'll done
@@Smokey420Greenleaf The beauty of friendship is giving what we can, without worrying about what another can give back. We accept each other's limitations with love and empathy.
When my grandson was 14 years old he started a lawn mowing business in the neighbor. He told the people - "when I finish your lawn you pay me what you think the job is worth and what you're comfortable with. If you can't afford anything that's fine as well. If you like my work and want me to continue I will be back again next week." He did this every summer for 4 years. There was one elderly woman who could not afford to pay him. He still cut her grass every week. At one point she told him - "I have a little extra money. I want you to have it." My grandson said - "thank you ma'am, but I can't take your money. Please spend it on yourself." I'm so proud of my grandson!
People that are complaining that other people "can't take care of their lawns" to me are not looking at the entire picture. I will use me as an example. I bought one of the most beautiful properties in the community I live in with the intentions of fixing it up and finishing the landscaping that it needed. The next spring I had a heart attack, It put me behind on my plans, Then eye was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy, and went blind (all I could see was shadows). After 12 eye surgeries my eyesight was restored, but I had a second heart attack and had a triple bypass. For me to mow my yard it too 3 times longer to do what I could do in a short time beforehand. When I bought the property, I could full well do all of the landscaping, but now I can't. AND I DID OWN A LAWN SERVICE BUSINESS when I was younger. Sometimes in life good people need help too. If I could get set up again, I would do just what this channel does for elderly people and our veterans. Keep up the great work.
The world I grew up in also had neighbors who would pitch in to help when one of their neighbors wasn't up to it. Different world now, not better, just different. Nice to see this lawn man had a soft spot for need folk. 🤗
The size of these blocks of land would take a lot of maintenance for a fit person let alone an elderly gentleman. I would sell half of it to manage the smaller block.
What amazes me is in so many of these videos he is helping the elderly but not one neighbor has apparently done anything to help their neighbor. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
That is the very same thing that bothers me the most when I watch these videos even that small strip of land between two properties and they will only mow their half when obviously the neighbor is having problems mowing theirs at all
While admiring all the hard work, I notice this overgrown yard is SURROUNDED by homes, and NOT A ONE, besides this man, so much as offered this neighbor some much needed help?! They should hang their heads in shame.
everything you said is spot on. My next door neighbor is a young kid renting, last Sunday at 6am I seen him leaving for work. I mowed his yard, the kid is working 6 to 7 days a week, If any young kid is working like that I will mow his yard every week. You sir are a good man, I mow my other neighbors yard cause she is old and cannot do or pay for someone, This world would be so much better if instead of the people saying bad things about others yards and just did the next right thing.
How in the world did over 2,000 people give this a thumbs down? This man did a complete lawn makeover and took a step further with a power wash of the concrete. All of it was done for FREE. When is the last time you did something like this on a daily basis? This man deserves many more thumbs up that's for sure. Great work man. A heart of gold right there.
they probably did it because he backed it on youtube for views. I think its honestly pretty cool, that there is people that are willing to do this and yes i agree with others and wish many more would get out there and do it
As a guy who has elderly parents, I actually moved back in with them to help my dad take care of my mom. When my mom passed away last year, I told my dad that I'm still gonna stay here for him too whether he likes it or not. They took care of me, now it's my turn to take care of them. My dad still likes to go out and do some of the mowing but anything he doesn't feel like touching, I take care of. I make sure to give him his freedom so he doesn't feel worthless but I also watch him like a hawk. Sometimes people just get hurt and can't get out there and take care of the yard like they used too. Life HAPPENS.
May your mom REST IN PEACE My mom went with the LORD 5 years ago. My pop is 85. He does everything himself. But last month I saw his fragility. I help out ,but not to make him feel useless. Little things, to make it easier for him. I'm retired unexpectedly. But God had a reason and a plan. God bless you and your dad. Stay safe Greetings from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
I'm a fireman, work 24-36 hour shifts plus a lot of overtime. Every now and again, my retired neighbor mows my lawn. He won't accept anything for it and always says "That's just community." I'm glad I live around people like him.
I have a neighbor who is an incredibly hard working guy. A stone mason. Leaves for work at 5 and doesn't pull into his driveway until after 6. Whenever he mows his lawn, he does my front yard as well. I actually feel guilty because I am semi retired and can easily do it myself. I always get him a case of beer (which he reluctantly accepts), but it goes way beyond paying him back - it's the generosity of the act that blows me away every time.
@@Automedon2 I have a similar situation. My wife and I are mid 50s. Certainly not young, not old. But we both have health conditions (type-1 diabetes since I was a child, wife has M.S.) Neighbor is a single guy, 31 yrs old, owns a blow-in insulation company. Busy as hell all the time. But he mows our yard every week. I also buy him a case of beer each time. I tell him I'm paying my dues when I bring the beer to him. Greatest neighbor I've ever had!
My dad and our neighbor mowed each other’s front lawns and parkways. It became a contest of who would get to it, first. 😆 Now I live in NM, where xeriscaping is the thing. My husband will sometimes lend out his burner or burn our neighbor’s weeds for them.
You could afford to pay somebody,so do it..I’m 65 ,still work in the electrical trades keeping the lights on with a lot of overtime without the benefit of 24 on/ 48 off, raising 4 grandkids, and still find time to mow my big yard and other property up keeps.Grow up
@@michaelmckenzie5232 That wasn't the point that I was making. At all. You took something innocent about community and turned it in to a hostile pissing match. Congrats on mowing your lawn. YOU grow up.
When my dad got really old his neighbour did his hedges without asking. Dad was off the charts grateful. You keep doing what you are doing. That could be anyone's dad. God bless you.
@@TopNotchLawns you got good heart bro..thanks for helping that person out..you earn my subscriber..great job.👍👍 One question how much it’s would have cost for a yard like that size???
If I had a neighbor that needed help, especially an elderly or disabled one, I would be there in a heartbeat to help them out. You are a saint for helping so many people but man, I wish more people like you were out there. I bet that guy feels very happy and relieved to see his lawn in such great shape after your help!
To anyone saying that "if you cant take care of your yard, you shouldnt own it" is total carp. I bought my house 10 years ago, with no problems. I have been on dialysis now for almost 7 years. I have went downhill pretty quick. I have severe vertigo (caused by the kidney failure) and now I am unable to take care of the simplest of things. I used to be a Rancher and did everything myself. Not anymore. Hopefully after a transplant things will go back to normal. So asking this person why they do this, is something you will NEVER understand. Keep up the great work, you DO make a difference.
When I was in high school, i wanted a garden. There was a house in our area where the lawn was never mowed. I asked the elderly owner if I could mow her lawn in exchange for some garden space. Two years I mowed her lawn and chatted with her. Then a church painted her house for her. When I went away to tech school another kid mowed her lawn. She always offered to pay but we never took money.
@@miriamhappe1066 some years ago we had a snowstorm, so my kids and I went outside and started shoveling the snow out of our driveway. One of my neighbors (across the street from me) was out there shoveling as well tho he had a snowblower so it was going a lot faster than us. While we were shoveling his 14 or so year old kid was driving a quad with a small snowplow attached to it. We ignored them both until the little jerk drives by our driveway and pushes a ton of snow back into it. That got me angry so I went and told his father to please ask his kid to stop it. Instead of doing that he told us we should buy a snowblower. I told him what we needed was for his kid to stop bringing more snow into our driveway. I wonder if any of this eventually sunk in in his head since a year or so later when we had another snowstorm he actually came by and helped us clear some of my driveway. I do know I was beyond shocked he was helping me this time around, so at the end I thanked him for his help. and yes, a snowblower made things much easier.
That property is HUGE!! What a massive job. The driveway had me thinking “what has he gotten himself into?!?” And “turn the camera off and take a break!” Such an incredible thing you did for this man. Well done and thank you for your hard work
Yeah the video got a little over an hour of the action but he said it was about 7 hour job over 2 days so that sounds more like it. Happy to watch an hour of hard word and a big cleanup...but maybe not the full 7 hrs. A good deed here, the place ended up looking great, who knew that driveway was salvageable under there!
Sheri .agree why not build a cottage, rent out the house. The income could cover garden maintenance and re surface the drive. It would boost the property value and relieve the neighbours of an eyesore.
@Rulya Mórrigan Ard Mhacha then sell the house? If you can’t maintain it, and clearly don’t need that much property and house, why keep it? If he didn’t get donations to take care of the lawn for a year, what would have happened in a year?
I used to live in a small town and my next door neighbor was an elderly widowed woman. Whenever, I cut my grass, I would cut hers as well. It's not always about the money. It's about human compassion. The happiness I see on her face is worth more than gold itself.
This is exactly why I started Little Bear Lawn Care. When I had cancer, I couldn't mow the lawn as I was neutropenic (no immune system). My wife was 6 months pregnant when I was diagnosed at the end of March, so you can imagine what it was looking like after a few months when she had our daughter in June. We couldn't get ANYBODY to come and mow our little lawn (literally 40 minutes with a push mower), until my wife finally got somebody to stay on the phone long enough to hear her crying and begging for help. We finally got them to come and mow our lawn a few times until my wife was able to recover from a C-Section and mow it herself. INSANE! After that, I got avascular necrosis and couldn't barely walk, but I was mowing my lawn. After my hip replacements, I started up a lawn care company to help people that found themselves in similar predicaments as my family had. If you're in Greensburg, PA and need help, please call us. We'll do our best to make sure you're taken care of.
Thanks so much for sharing your awesome story. Not awesome you had to go through those struggles of course but that you would turn into something so giving for others. Thanks so much for the amazing work you do
Its sad that none of his neighbors offered to cut his grass when they were cutting theirs. If that was my neighbor I would have cut it...Thank you for being a decent, selfless, human!
In defense, Neighbors may have thought he had been hired to do all this work, so maybe (hoping) that’s why no other folks jumped in to help....I’m just so thankful and grateful there are people like this wonderful man donating all his time, tools out of kindness and goodness of his huge heart....
You are so right!!! I said maybe neighbors thought this gentleman had been hired to clean up, but. Yes, one, two neighbors most certainly could have kept mowing little longer...
But what about all the days until THIS day? Looks they mow their lawns regularly and well...but it also looks like the "looked the other way" to let his to grow until it was out of control. Sad.
@@billieo5376 how do you know that the neighbors don’t hire mowing companies for their lawn? Putting a lot of blame on people without knowing what is actually going on.
Being a disabled adult. I love knowing people like you are still in this world. You understand that sometimes life just gets really hard for some of us. On top of that you don't judge. I love that. Keep doing what you're doing. It's a wonderful thing.
Thank you for doing this, I’m sure it raised the spirits of this man tremendously. A number of years ago my next door neighbor who was an elderly man lost his wife in the spring. When fall came here in central Indiana the leaves were thick, I cleaned up my yard and then cleaned up his to help him out. He wanted to pay me, I said no, I just wanted to help him out, he was truly grateful. Amazing how good you can make others feel by doing something like cleaning up leaves, I was happy I made his life easier that fall, he passed away that next summer.
I just became disabled and some don't realize how it can be to want to be active and your body won't let you. God bless you for having such a compassionate heart!

My three nephews and I just started watching your videos. They were utterly inspired to wanna go out and help clean up some lawns so we did. Homes, churches, businesses, etc. They love it! The little wants a lawn mower like yours. I told him in due time. He calls you “The Lawn Knight on the Horseless Chariot!” Thank you so much for what you do. I wish much blessings and prosperity to your business!
Thank you for helping this man who needed help desperately. Why didn't some of the neighbors join in and come over and help? Nobody wants to be bothered anymore. When you see lawns that look like this it's saying please come and help me. These jobs take hours to do, so whether he did a good job or not be thankful he did it. Thank you for seeing that this person needed help and you were right there to help him. Awesome job!!! God-bless you.
There's actually quite a few Lawn Care guys that are doing this type of charity for their community. He was not even concerned about the money but I gave him $100 and he seemed very grateful. Thank you for being such a nice person in this world of not so nice people.
Definitely yes. They put all kinds of energy into complaints to the church, other neighbors, the media, politicians, bylaw and anyone else with an ear for gossip....but pick up a shovel or rake lol. They'd sooner steal credit than acctually lower their high and mighty head for a minute.
True, it's happened to me. A few years back I fractured my ankle, had to wear a special "boot" and was on crutches. I got a nasty-gram from the city about the weeds growing in the gravel of my front yard. Someone had complained. I couldn't afford to pay anyone as I lost my job shortly after fracturing my ankle. So I'm sitting on a step stool with my crutches beside me pulling weeds for several days. Lots of people walking by and driving by and not one person offered to help me. Not even anyone from the church I was attending at the time.

It happened to me too. I was still working, a 62-yr-old woman, having been diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease and taking care of my disabled daughter. I did the best I could to keep my yard cut even though there were times when it would take me 2-3 days to get it done. If I let it get just 1 inch longer than it should’ve been, my neighbor’s oldest daughter would call code enforcement and I would get a notice to clean up my yard and cut my grass. I was threatened with fines but thankfully was always able to meet the deadline. The daughter was angry with me because I knew her parents well but her mother had passed and even though her father offered me coffee many times, I refused because the old man had dementia and just wanted to talk about sex and tried to touch me in an inappropriate place. I didn’t tell his daughters because I loved their mother and didn’t want to cause any trouble. He did the same thing to another neighbor. So we just stopped visiting him and just spoke and waved at him from a distance.
I mow my neighbor's yard every week, including edging their driveway, curb, and weed-eat around the fence/house/flowerbeds. When they need it--I pull weeds. In spring, I add pine straw to the beds. 2 years ago, I created a flower bed in their back yard and planted day lilies I dug up from my yard. The lady called me crying she was so thrilled and surprised. God tells us to love they neighbor.

Yes even a broken bone or a sprain in the leg or arm would make it hard to mow. A loved one in the hospital or in the hospital themselves. What sad is all these people that have no one to help them.
I love how one of the commenters speaks as if the lawn was a child. And that if you got sick would you neglect the child. I think a growing blade of grass is not a child. People sometimes can't even take care of their children and have to have CYS come in for a little while. To tell people that their lawns are first in priority when you buy a house is absolutely insane.

Being a disabled gentleman in the UK in a council property. I love to see the council gardening/grounds team visit to cut my garden. It really makes my day. So I can understand how this gentleman feels. I would cut peoples grass on my days off before my health became to bad & I ended up in a wheelchair part time. So you could say I seen both sides of what it is like. I loved the feel it gave me knowing I had made someone's day. I also felt blessed doing it. The old dears would make sure I had a drink & a slice of homemade cake which helped the task go faster. Often they would sit outside chatting about there life's. Some of the them had very interesting jobs. Other went to war & these chats I loved to hear don't if it was because I was an army child or if it was down to the fact that this person gave me my freedom I take for granted. I want to thank you for doing this for people who can no long manage to do it. May God bless you each day.

People just don't know how hard, if not impossible, it is for some to be able to do certain, basic things. It's not from a lack of desire. Chronic pain can really alter the course of your life.

I want you to have it."
My grandson said - "thank you ma'am, but I can't take your money. Please spend it on yourself."
I'm so proud of my grandson!
As you should!!

Praise God for this well raised young man! He is an asset to your community and family.
Continue to be well. God bless.
The world I grew up in also had neighbors who would pitch in to help when one of their neighbors wasn't up to it. Different world now, not better, just different. Nice to see this lawn man had a soft spot for need folk. 🤗
Sorry to hear that I wish you the best
The size of these blocks of land would take a lot of maintenance for a fit person let alone an elderly gentleman. I would sell half of it to manage the smaller block.
@D🔧Y You're going to sell your whole entire house and property because you can't trim your lawn? That's nuts!
What amazes me is in so many of these videos he is helping the elderly but not one neighbor has apparently done anything to help their neighbor. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
That is the very same thing that bothers me the most when I watch these videos even that small strip of land between two properties and they will only mow their half when obviously the neighbor is having problems mowing theirs at all

everything you said is spot on. My next door neighbor is a young kid renting, last Sunday at 6am I seen him leaving for work. My dad still likes to go out and do some of the mowing but anything he doesn't feel like touching, I take care of. I make sure to give him his freedom so he doesn't feel worthless but I also watch him like a hawk.

As a former landscaper of 10yrs & someone who is now disabled, I have much respect.

- the professional job of reviving the lawn, or
- that is was made for a person in need

To anyone saying that "if you cant take care of your yard, you shouldnt own it" is total carp. I bought my house 10 years ago, with no problems. I have been on dialysis now for almost 7 years.
Well, not all of us.
Unfortunately, many, along with their children, have gone to drag queen story hour.
That property is HUGE!! What a massive job. The driveway had me thinking “what has he gotten himself into?!?” And “turn the camera off and take a break!” Such an incredible thing you did for this man. Well done and thank you for your hard work
I was thinking that too
If he’s actually working and cleaning up alone I’m sure this particular yard was a 2-3 day job.

True, and this a awesome, but he may need to downsize, you can’t do his grass every week, just because he’s a senior. No disrespect intended

I use my riding mower for the bulk of it but I still have to use my push mower to get to places where the rider can't go. I am ashamed of my son. He doesn't care though. We haven't spoken in well over five years.
I noticed that all yards in that neighborhood are well kept. Sad the state of affairs in “community”...neighbors could easily get together and help a neighbor having bad times and yet, they just ignore...thanks for doing what others fail to do...

Your right we don't know. But this country has a lot of lazy people who don't want to work or take pride in the things they own. Some people have it much worse than them. Like not having a place to live.

@@1971mav The only difference between a lazy person who can afford landscapers to do housework for them and a lazy person who can't is income yet one is treated way better than the other even though they have the same mindset about not wanting to do it and only having it done if forced. So it's not the laziness people are offended by. It's how dare you not have expendable income so we know how lazy you are.
@@mrjfrostbiteI also will be the first to say I am guilty in that I do have exposable income but I dont usually like getting people to do my yard work as I absolutely detest having people do work for me that I myself should do. But the catch here is that I am a first time owner and do know jack what to do all around (had never lived in a house before). So I am in a catch 22. For example, by just watching this video, I learned a new tool I should use to go around the edge. I have gone to home depot and gotten judgemental looks just for asking about tools and what they were used for.
Believe me, you brightened his life a lot. I'm a woman in my mid 70s, disabled, and I was so embarrassed that some weeds had grown in front and along the side of my condo, making my apartment look the worst among five others. He was not even concerned about the money but I gave him $100 and he seemed very grateful. Thank you for being such a nice person in this world of not so nice people.

It’s sad to say that there are a lot of neighbors who will complain but very few who are willing to help.
Definitely yes. They put all kinds of energy into complaints to the church, other neighbors, the media, politicians, bylaw and anyone else with an ear for gossip....but pick up a shovel or rake lol. They'd sooner steal credit than acctually lower their high and mighty head for a minute.
Yes !
@@SenryLHKiser I'm so sorry. If you are still injured, please call 211 or your city. I know every city has connections to local non profit organizations and there are people like this TH-camr that will cut your yard for free. I would suggest you download the app called Nextdoor and post about your situation. You will be surprised to know people in your zip code area will pitch in and help or at least know of several non profit organizations that will help you out.
Exactly..instead of judging we should be helping others. You never know what someone is going through. Great job!
Bless you, if everyone of us did a little thing for a neighbour, the world would be a better place.
We can do little things, but this was a HUGE good turn.
Giving a neighbor back some pride is so wonderful. Casting goodwill returns to you 100 fold!

I love how one of the commenters speaks as if the lawn was a child. And that if you got sick would you neglect the child. I think a growing blade of grass is not a child.
