    I had the same problem, sticking piston in rear right caliper. So far I have just lifted the piston dust cover and syringed some brake fluid under it and it has freed up nicely, but I will some day do a refurb and your great tutorial will make the job a lot easier. Thank you very much.

    when bleeding the brake, it's easier to use ratcheting wrench, also you can do without one way valve if you run that clear hose UP from the bleeding screw before routing it down into collecting container. For clamping brake line, just use a piece of cloth and vise grips.

      True, the alternatives you mentioned work just as well, especially if the more specialized tools (one-way valve, hose clamps etc.) are not available.

    Does the notch on the banjo bolt go opposite or does it align with the line notch before you tighten it? 31:46

    • @TheMissingBolt
      @TheMissingBolt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not sure what you mean. At 31:46 it's the bleeder screw, not the banjo bolt. The bolt appears at 29:30 and doesn't have a notch; the notch belongs to the brake hose and when installing the hose, the tip of the notch must go into the dedicated hole from the caliper. If you're referring to these 2, see from 29:17 onward on how the banjo bolt, brake hose and notch must be installed.

      @@TheMissingBolt I don’t know how the time got there. I meant is there a specific way I need to start the thread of the new bolt into the caliper .

    • @TheMissingBolt
      @TheMissingBolt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@christophergalardo3457 No, apart from making sure the hose is sitting correctly on the caliper first, the bolt should be installed normally - start by hand first to avoid any risk of cross-threading and don't forget the 2 copper washers.

    Good day boss
    I would like to have advice please
    My front left wheel is sometimes locked up and I went to the garage to change the caliper but just the day after the same issue comes again.
    When I went back to the garage he told me that you need to change the ABS unit
    I am just wondering because I never had the " ABS alarm " showing in the dash board and I scanned the car more than 3 times and the scanner is saying no error
    Can you please help me with this ?!

      Hello! If it's a mechanical fault inside the ABS pump it's indeed possible to have it misbehave and lock up a wheel while showing no error on the dashboard. If a caliper and brake fluid change haven't solved the problem and it's only one wheel that locks up, it does indeed sound like a bad ABS pump that needs replacing. If the cost of a new one is too high, maybe try your luck with a second-hand part from a low-mileage donor car.

    Very detailed video thank you. Did you remove, check and clean the caliper slider bolts as these can get water in and seize leading to premature and uneven pad wear?

      I did do the caliper bracket and slide pin clean-up in the rear brake installation video, namely here: th-cam.com/video/0ncvWbMUiGQ/w-d-xo.html

    At same last few days .put on new disc pads caliper .only pressure to left front brake and right side rear now ,have buddy bleed it 2 times no luck or breakes ..got quoted 2300 for abs pump .from kia .its a 2013 .17 crdi .any ideas as can't get mechanics .does this look like an abs pump fault. Thanks

      It doesn't sound like the ABS pump to me. The ABS pump has 4 channels (since there are 4 lines that go to each of the wheels), so it's unlikely that 2 of the channels broke simultaneously. On the other hand, as far as I remember (though this needs to be confirmed with a mechanic) the Kia Sportage has a diagonal braking system, where the front left & rear right form one circuit and the front right & rear left form the other. These are controlled by the brake master cylinder which is connected to the brake pedal. From what you're describing, it's more likely that the brake master cylinder has partially failed and it now only supplies hydraulic to one of the circuits. So I'd start my investigation from there. Also, the master cylinder should be much cheaper to replace than the ABS pump. Best of luck!

    Where and how did you get your parts. I’m having an extremely difficult time locating

    • @TheMissingBolt
      @TheMissingBolt  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used genuine parts from a Kia dealer, based on my vehicle's VIN number. They weren't very expensive, despite being genuine.

      @@TheMissingBoltthank you! I’ve attempted calling my dealer asking for these parts but they have me a stupid quote. Tried another dealer and they acted like these parts were not an option. I hate to replace a caliper because the dealers are just wanting $$

      @@alexandruiftode8761 Multumesc foarte mult!
