Eclipse Day Fun: Make a Sun Funnel

When it comes to viewing the eclipse - put safety first! A Sun Funnel is a relatively simple device that you can make at home to view the sun. Pair with a refractor telescope to create an enlarged projection of the sun that a whole group can watch at once!

Could a reflecting telescope or schmidt cassegrain be used if the objective was stopped down to an inch or two?

Yes! You can use a reflector if you stop down the aperture by placing a piece of cardboard over the front end with a 1-2" hole cut to one site to let in only a small amount of sunlight.
