Perfect timing ! I have ground turk that I was thinking to make turkey burgers today. Now that you sent me the recipe for turkey chili I'll make this instead. Looks awesome for a great Sunday dinner. Love your channel and cooking tips ! ☝️😀
So I made turkey chili this week (not quite like this recipe) and I added chickpeas that I’d been trying to get rid of for awhile. It was game changer! The black and red beans I added cooked down quite a bit and helped thicken the chili but the chickpeas kept their integrity and added a nice tender “pop” to each bite. Also added frozen corn which gave it more of a southwest flare. It tasted better the next day when the flavors settled. Ate it with some tortilla chips. Chef kisses!!
I'm making this for dinner tonight! Looks delish. I was wondering if you would ever consider doing an updated autoimmune journey video? Recently got diagnosed with Hashimotos and now anticipating another diagnosis. I'm just struggling with coming to terms with all of this and would love to know how you're doing with remission, flares and the mental health aspect of chronic illness? Love from a fellow kiwi xx
Hi Lisa, I found your channel in the past year and am loving all of your recipes! I made your stuffed pepper soup and it was a huge hit with my husband and my parents! I have recommended you to clients I work with that want to eat healthier (I am a therapist) and they have loved your recipes too. This turkey chili looks delicious and I will definitely make it this week. Thank you!
This is so good- swapped one can of beans with frozen precut butternut squash, and a green pepper for jalapeño because those are what I had. Gets more delicious when eaten as left overs!! 🤤
I start my turkey chili with 3 slices of North Country bacon. Really adds fat and flavor to the ground turkey. Since I can't eat peppers, I substitute celery and I love mixing my own spices to make it as hot or mild as I want. Chili options are endless!
I am so glad you shared how to cut a pepper in your Stuffed Pepper Soup video, which I’ve made three times already. Game changer. Thank you for your great videos.
Just received your cookbook and had to write a note to rave about it. I absolutely love it! First of all, it is beautiful. Cookbooks for me must have photos. You did not disappoint, and the photos are composed so artistically, which I appreciate. But most of all, the recipes sound so delicious. I am slowly paging through it and making a list of the recipes I want to make right away. Oftentimes, by year's end, I have overindulged and consumed too much sugar and unhealthy foods. I was looking forward to your cookbook, as I know your recipes would inspire me - and they absolutely have. Reading the introduction was informative, interesting, and very useful. You make cooking seem doable. This turkey chili is cooking on the stove as I write this, and the kitchen smells divine. Thank you Lisa for a fabulous cookbook.
A very nice chilli recipe! I really like that. I make my chilli very similarly. If you want to vary the taste: It gets very good with roasted bacon cubes and smoked, Spanish paprika powder. Another delicious variant with a special kick is the addition of ground cinnamon. Be careful in the dosage. On the amount in the video I would use 1 tsp.
I add celery and a carrot to mine, in addition to the usual vegetables. More fiber, more vitamins! Also, using a dried pepper like guajillo to the pot, fishing it out when it’s done. Yum!
I made it yesterday! I didn't have green jalapens, so used pickled. But I was afraid to make it too spicy, so added just few pieces. Just eated it for lunch at work and it was deliciuos!❤️ My colleague was standing near my table and said that the smell was wonderful😁
@@Downshiftology what state are you located ? Because here in Los Angeles, we're getting battered with lower 40"s temps at night.... absolutely brutal😕
I made turkey chili recently with the same ingredients from your previously beef chili recipe. It was amazingly delicious. We had leftovers but we ate it all up and no need to freeze it. Thanks for sharing your delicious recipes with us.😜
Hi, I My family and Iove your delicious recipes. They are just down home goodness which is comfort food! I'm cooking this chili tonight with leftover turkey and I want to add kale/spinach, just for some color and greens. Have a blessed day! Thank you for sharing!
I am a diehard fan of your classic beef chilli, and the veggie one, and I just made this version over the weekend. It is wonderful. We have them all on rotation. I could eat chilli every day and never get bored. Please keep the chilli coming!
I bought your cookbook and you have helped me so much! I love cooking your TH-cam recipes. I have never seen you have hazelnut flour except in the cookbook so I’d love more ideas what to do with that. My pantry staples are all from you! 🤍 I think my first recipe will be your maple mustard pulled pork. It is so stunning visually with those seeds!!
Sounds yummy... I will be making this tonight. But, chili with no chili powder? I do not use commercially prepared "chili powder" which is usually a combination of dried red chiles of one sort or another plus cumin and often other spices thrown in. I use Hatch pure chili powder so that I can control the impact of garlic, cumin, oregano, etc. Trader Joe's even carries dried Hatch chili flakes, which are an excellent way to add deep chili flavor to any dish. For heat, I use cayenne pepper, but I'm not sure this recipe would benefit from that, turkey being what it is. I like the idea of red or orange mild peppers plus the jalapeño. Perfect. ( though I never use jalapeño in my beef-based chili recipe. )
Wow this was amazing!! We followed this recipe & my husband & I really enjoyed it. We will follow this for now on!! I wouldn’t mind having no meat & having it as nachos as well. Yum! Thank you
Looks delicious. I use spicy v8 juice instead of the chicken broth and tomato paste, but my mom made it like that sometimes too. I find 85/15 perfect for chili, I tried 90 and it was a bit too dry.
Aaahhh! So I was supposed to put the onion in the freezer (not the fridge) for 15 minutes. No wonder it didn't help much. I had 6 large onions to chop today, too bad I got that part wrong. A zester is an ideal way to turn garlic into a pulp if one doesn't have a garlic press. It also means for very even garlic flavor and no sudden bite of it. Ricotta is also a good topping. 😋
Another great recipe, as always. I love your cookbook! I got it as a Christmas gift and every recipe I've tried so far has been great. One question - the glass containers you use in this video for storage - do those work better for freezer storage than the Glasslock containers?
Making this now. Ooooo my apt smells good. I had to substitute vegetable bouillon and water because I forgot to buy chicken broth 😖 AND forgot the sour cream which now I’m debating delivery because ya can’t skip the sour cream! 😭 will update. Lol

Ground turkey comes in various fat contents. What do you typically use?
Where can I find the glass container that she uses to store the chili is not listed under her products
You can find those in my Amazon storefront here in the meal prep category: www.amazon.com/shop/downshiftology
Looks like a great recipe! Where did u get glass containers?
You can always find everything I use in my shop page here: downshiftology.com/shop/
Pro tip: Before cutting a pepper push in the stem with two fingers and pull out both the stem and seeds.
Black bean & lentil chili!
I'll definitely keep that in mind!

Here is a tip……when I find organic bell peppers at my local Costco, I buy a bag and then clean and freeze in large sections. Then, whenever I need peppers for a recipe, I remove the required amount and colours and allow to thaw before the final prep. Eliminates waste and ensures a supply of peppers at all times.
What can I sub the chicken broth for low sodium to none?

Beans sitting in salty water must be something American.I always use the bean liquid in my recipes as it definitely adds some nice not salty flavor.
I just run my onion under cold water after pealing the skin.. very little tears and don't stick your face over the chopped onion :)
For fuller flavor sauté the vegetables and fully brown the turkey separately.
