Ouch...as a fellow ref, this was a shocking display of inconsistency. His interpretation of the rules was off a few times as well as the awarding a soft foul for one team, when an even more obvious foul a few minutes later was ignored for the other team. You do that once, ok, that's human. But to do it 4-5 times in such a short span, you will lose control of the game (which he did...and he ended it 5 minutes early). Don't think the blue team deserved to lose the game and definitely not be down 2 of their starters going into the next game while white goes away unscathed...completely unfair.

I get the penalty being outside the box but players (including the captain) walking into the box after the penalty is saved at 14:45 is unforgivable, if they had started their run the second the ball was kicked they probably would of had an easy clearance but only one player on the opposite team ran in. The ref was inconsistent, but this vid is a masterclass of why you play the game against your opponent rather than the ref. The blue team, at the start of the game, looked miles better than the white team. As the game went on, they started spending more time/energy lobbying to the ref than playing the game. It's easy to beat an opponent that can't stay focused on the actual game.

9:20 funny technicality you can pull here.
As a goalie or defender, you're not allowed to shove the striker away. But you're allowed to shove your own teammate away.
Place the defender between the goalie and the striker, and have the goalie shove the defender. As long as the defender's hands are up and not shoving the striker, perfectly legal way to indirectly shove him away.
Some refs won't give you that leeway though so use with care and make sure that defenders hands are up.

  • @DanielEckert63

As a ref - I don’t agree with some of his calls - but I can understand why he went the way he did. His positioning was very good and he kept his cool. Yes, could he have controlled the game with his whistle and talking to players, slowing down the restarts, and pulling some of the temperature out by enforcing the laws tightly. I believe strongly in the “spirit of the game” but I also believe in protecting players. To be fair - I didn’t watch the entire video - and skipped to the last 10 minutes so maybe there was much more inconsistency that was earlier. A point I do want to mention - it is so easy for everyone to judge when you have a superior angle and replay. Refs do not have that - they only have what they see in front of them - and the angle in which they see the play. Every player (and coach) thinks they are a better referee - but in my experience - I can honestly say until you certify and get 1000 games under your belt - one shouldn’t be judging - unless of course you are an assessor .

TL:DR of my other comment and an answer to the questions I've already seen:
Call the fucking match. The reason you see this level of maturity is that no one has the balls to abandon at least half the matches played in some leagues.
This match should've been abandoned and adjudicated by the league for all but probably five red cards on the blue team.
The reason you see this degeneration is simple: No one has the balls to enforce the Laws to the point of forfeiture of the match. They don't in pro levels, they certainly do not in most matches on this channel.
Enforce Dissent. Enforce Violent Conduct. Enforce Unsporting Conduct. And let the league see it's got a fucking problem it has to solve.

In addition, fortunately there is a goal after the penalty because it was to be withdrawn as the goalie does not have at least one foot on the line at the time of shooting but the 2 are in front.

Heated match but very competitive. To all the haters in the comments who have something to say about League1, talk is cheap... you can easily request a tryout for any team next season, if you can't even make it into a squad, don't talk shit hiding on the internet

Talk is extremely cheap, that’s why ppl from all over the world laugh at this kinda football. More talking than playing exceptional football seen here. No flow from either side on the ball. In West Brom and there’s mad yutes that are more obedient and know how to stay composed whether they get ran through or clipped. You can’t breed players in these types of leagues bc everyone thinks they’ve played next to Vanbrockhorst or Cruyff. These guys look like they’re 30 and freaking out. Focus more on training and getting to the next level rather than what ppl have to say. Everyone has an opinion. It’s TH-cam mate … If you can’t handle that, which it clearly shows, balling just ain’t ya hobby. You can tell you’ve never played past a league such as this since you’re defending it like if no one put time and effort they couldn’t make it, stop trying to make it seem like you or the league is superhuman worthy😂 buncha babies. You’re the same kinda soul to critique pro footballers through a TV screen. B real with yourself and help yourself son.

@@cma-jc9iz you missed the whole point keyboard warrior.. all your negative takeaways about this level via this specific game to the side, if you can't make it into a L1O squad - don't talk shit about the supposed level that you're so proud to claim is weak.. 98% of the prostars team is U21, their collective inexperience/immaturity showed in this game... BUT the last people to talk shit about ANY decent competitive level of play are the ones actually PLAYING or have played because once you compete at any good level, you realize talking shit about any officially sanctioned level is completely USELESS as there is TONS of players above you at any given time, in a region let alone the world, unless you are in the top 0.001% range like Messi, Ronaldo, etc.. your level of class clearly shows, you need to chat shit because you're apparently soooo good but yet you need to hide behind a fake username... I didn't chat shit about any league level so my anonymous status is completely irrelevant... I just told you keyboard warriors to join L1O, since you're so good and the league is apparently so shit, you'd easily be the star player in it and easily progress into a fully professional rank.. Unlike you, I'm well aware to play at ANY decent level, ANYWHERE in the world whether thats 5th division in England, 3rd division in Canada (L1O), or all the way in damn semi-pro level in Taiwan, you need to actually be able to play at a high performing level in regards to technical ability as well as physical demands, otherwise you simply wont keep up, wont get in a squad, and your youtube comments of hate are irrelevant other than just self-hate projecting outwards.... the different levels within each country compared to other countries is a WHOLE other separate subject, because regardless, if you can play, you can play when you're next to other good players. The rest of your comment is just low IQ, to assume I "critique pro footballers through a TV screen" is fucking pointless. And take your own advice "B real with yourself and help yourself son." Good riddance.

2 white for YC for delay 2:20
    Incident at 5:30
The key to this is when the ball is deemed no longer in play due to this incident. Anything AFTER that is red. Anything BEFORE that could be yellow.
6 blue 9 white yellow (we saw the yellow for 9 white, were any others actually given?)
33 blue RED for Violent Conduct.
41(?) blue gets yellow for a cynical foul. 6:35
Keeper (24) blue has to be carded at some point. I know there's way too much argie-bargie or however you wanna call it on corners, but this is ridiculous, bordering on Violent Conduct in it's own right!
29 blue better stop shaking that fist at about 10:00 -- that's cardable dissent.
That first tackle of the second half by 2 white should've been the end of his night. He's on yellow for the delay, so any card sends him off.
Blue keeper (24) should've been sent off for a second yellow for dissent (that he actually got as his first) at 14:00.
Resultant penalty (it was right at the corner of the box, so, without video to review it, that's a 50-50 call) is own-goaled for 1-0.
25 blue should be off, 32 blue and 29 blue should be yellowed. 25 blue for the tackle which was called, all three for dissent. 15:45 25 blue eventually DOES get sent off, probably abuse from the 4th.
That's now twice you should've sent off the blue keeper (24), since you already booked him for dissent.
    24 white gets a delay YC 21:00.
17 white for the goal celebration on the 2-1.
    Injury time incident:
25 white, 33 blue both go. If you'd sent 33 blue off for the first incident, this one probably doesn't happen.
    End of match:
You have a card from the last sequence. 32 blue for dissent, before anything else happens. That's a sending off.
You could make a case that, for several incidents in the second half, the blue captain needs to go.
10 blue should've been carded for dissent.

      2:20 YC is correct
5:30 -- I'd actually go YC for 6 Blue for USB. RC for VC on 9 White (led with the head) and 33 Blue. Normally, guidance is to get both players equally, otherwise, you're going to embolden one or both teams to do dumb stuff because they think they can get away with it.
6:35 -- YC is correct but for re-start delay.
7:17 -- YC for the keeper would be good here. Excessive shove, it's while the ball is out of play, so it's a good time to give one to stop the crap as it wouldn't result in a PK.
10:10 -- I wouldn't necessarily go YC for dissent. Reaction was immediate after the call. If he did it much after, agreed. I try to live by "frustration immediately after a call is an emotional reaction (unless an F bomb gets dropped). Anything after that is dissent."
11:46 -- Second YC for 2 white for sure. SPA, Reckless (studs), take your pick. No way he was getting that ball.
14:10 -- Should be second yellow for keeper here. Finally got it at least
15:10 -- Swinging arm to the face from 9 white. He should have been off earlier, at least a yellow for that.
15:30 -- Foul call was correct. 25 RC for OFFINABUS from the 4th. At least get someone else for dissent if you can't get both
Another should be YC for dissent. Keeper must have caught the ref on a good day lol.
      21:00 is correct
      17 White is correct
Injury time incident. Agreed. Get both to go there
End of the match. Eff it, just get the red card and keep it in your hand lol.

This is what happens when you have a sport where the players are allowed to get aggressive with officials, it breeds a lack of respect for both officials and players. The sport is rampant with bad tackles, dives and theatrics by players. Having played soccer in both Ireland and Canada, I can also say with confidence that i find North American players to be soft, whiney and v disrespectful to eachother and officials - its sad really

  • @kampala30

This is exactly what happens due to the shortage of referees, it's kind of like a moment-22: the players behave disrespectfully - more and more refs quit - the number of refs decreases, and so does thereby their quality - and with worse refs, the games turn uglier - and the whole cycle continues and gets worse.
This was unfortunately not a very good performence by the ref (nor by the players), but please, for the sake of football/soccer, show respect to the referee, have some understanding that they can make mistakes just like players can. And above all, don't make the refs job any harder than it needs to be. Also, don't provoke your opponents! Not only is that rude - you also put yourself and your teammates in potential danger, since the opponents may want to "pay back" with harder and uglier tackles on you or your teammates. And as mentioned, you make the refs job a living hell if you provoke, protest, play ugly etc.
I know all this becauese I am a ref myself...
What you could do is give the ref some concrete feedback, so that he can improve for the future :)

  • @WrinklyTraveller

Gotta say, that ref was poor in the first half. Cynical tackles that went unpunished and pedantic calls when he could've let the game flow. Some decisions I watched a few times and still couldn't figure out why. The penalty call was terrible. Right in line with the contact and he still got it wrong. To top it off, he made the sarcastic comment to the keeper, yet he got it completely wrong. His failure to control the match allowed it to denigrate into a verbal brawl. To top it off his positioning was poor. Running and standing in the alley rather than running angles to maintain a view of his ARs and the contest between players. His second half as better but only marginally. Unfortunately the behaviour of the players was worse. We have the same issues in Australia and getting people to ref is more and more difficult because of angry players and their abuse. There's some real anger management cases here.

The ref lost the plot right at the beginning. You can't let that much whining and complaining happen without consequences. That's why I try to game manage that by talking with the captains to cool things off. Then if everyone is still yelling and swearing they would get booked as the law determines. The way these teams play is very dirty and I would ref it VERY tight. Then the AR's need to know to keep looking for up to 20 seconds after the ball has moved away from the play to see any of the shenanigans like the keeper is pulling with the forward. He HAD to talk to the keeper and warn him about a penalty for that blatant shove of the attacking player.
