Where does being a Sierra Leonean take you outside your country? Nowhere! Keep on dreaming okay. When you leave squarrel or grorn pig to look after a groundnut or peanut farm what do you expect them to do? Nobody is going to get all of you out of that doldrums except yourselves. When you vote people on sentimental or tribal or regional grounds that is what you get. You suffer, your children's children suffer as well. If you brain fail u, u body go suffer ya. Best wishes with your Sierra Leone.

Who is in her/his right frame of mind will be proud of a country that is in tatters after the colonial era, due to mismanagement and exploitation of her resources for their own selfish gains? The question one should ask himself/herself is, are you better off or worse off today than you were ( if you're still alive) during the colonial era? I bet the answer would be you are worse off. Also, sixty years after independence, is the country better off or worse than the colonial era? The answer again would be overwhelmingly, we are worse off.
With all the razzmatazz and bravados with pontificated speeches in commemorating the country's sixty years of independence, there is still nothing tangible to account for.
Most of the answers given by the people that were interviewed by the young ladies were scripted. I bet if they were asked to sacrifice their right arms for a green card and an indefinite leave to remain in the US and UK respectively, they will be coming in droves for the offer.
If you want to know whether a country is doing well, ask the grassroots sufferers. Most of their opinions are devoid of spins.
For the girls with American accents, they haven't got a clue of what is happening on the ground. They should go around and ask the grassroots before giving their opinions.
You can be born in the west and still be useless without proper supervision from a father figure. Their only achievement is an accent. Most of them are at the bottom end of the pyramid/spectrum like majority of black people in the west. There are some exceptions though but very minimal . You cannot expect your children to do well when you leave them in the hands of their mothers to pick up the pieces while you are running to the motherland in order to exploit the country's resources for your own selfish gain. Also running behind skirts (big wais uman dem) and having kids here and there. You reap what you sow. And you win some and lose some. You cannot have your cake and eat it at the same time.
They should have done what the great man Magufuli did. Instead of commemorating independence by inviting foreign dignitaries, he used that money to improve some sectors in his country and used the day as a cleaning exercise for all Tanzanians. That is what they call a true patriot, not people that are exploiting the country's resources to enrich themselves and their cronies.

For me, there is nothing like independence. Cause we still depend on foreign donors for almost everything. And even when the help comes, it all goes into the pockets of our leaders with nothing left for us the poor masses. I have being here for sometime now since I got born in this country. From my total analysis, there is no progress what do ever. All I do see is backwardness everyday. Instead of moving forward, we are moving backward by every passing day. No gobs, the poor masses starve, and most of all, plague of poverty in every corner you go. This country is tiring us the young population. And that is the more reason temple runs is gaining momentum. Our sisters are leaving our shores everyday illegally. What a country??????.....

Why Sierra Leoneans celebrating this day, while they are still under British pressure and misery? Please heads of states stopped wasting money on such activities develop the country and break the state house down to build market places . The old state house is full of idolatry since the British empire.
