  • In K. 21, Scarlatti raised the ante of hand crossing, writing large sections using the technique. In K. 22, Scarlatti takes it to the next level! The difference between the use of hand crossing in K. 21 and K. 22 is that, in the former, the argument could be made that the crossing made the sections easier to play. Not so in K. 22. These hand crossings are purely for the purpose of instruction and make the piece much more difficult (they begin at 1:58). Special moment: truly gorgeous moment starting at 1:45.
