@@arnavc4993 It drains so fast. Just found out that the charging adapter was faulty. Try changing the adapter first before replacing the battery for issues like these.

Thanks for being my guide as I replaced my own battery! Definitely helps to have a project-buddy lol. I would’ve emphasized taking time on the lifting-back part though - I figured out along the way to use an old gift card to help pry it open without cracking/snapping anything off. Everything else was super simple though!

One of the main reasons I bought this laptop was because it is very easy to open and access everything on the motherboard, battery, memory, SSD etc. which makes it easy to upgrade/repair. One technical note: some folks may try to use a metal flat blade screwdriver to separate the cable from the battery: don't. Getting ready to replace my battery now too...

While you're in there replace the drive with a bigger one ,oh hell add more ram too. This laptop is one of the easiest to work on. Cool name btw. thanks for the video my friend .
Just FYI of anyone reading this. I saw that the original battery only had two screws; the ones nearest the edge of the laptop were never installed. I put the two back in and the battery is firm anyway. Also, note that Percy pushes the cover back on while listening for the clicking sound to make sure it's all the way down. I didn't do this on one side and ended up cross-threading a screw so, do that.
It has lasted 3 years as of now but it does need to be changed again it will only last an hour or less after 3 years. Pretty much the same as the original lasted
It’s possible you may in connected it.... where battery plugs in there is another connector.... in not certain that controls the mouse or not. But that is only other plug near where we connect the battery

Tip: next time to really see if the battery works can you show us before and after the battery health.

Ughh. I didn't scratch it for 5 years and they did it in 3 days. And then they told me the scratches were there. Where I know what was there, because I babied my laptop all this years.

So I have this same computer- battery was swelling so I ordered the appropriate battery on Newegg. Replaced it like in the video making sure it’s plugged in right and plugged the whole laptop in to charge the battery. However if I unplug the laptop it shuts off right away. So is it right to think either the battery is dead or I installed it wrong? I just checked the new battery again and it’s securely fasted and plugged into the motherboard. Just don’t know what to do next
It might be the battery another viewer thought he had everything plugged in but missed one I think there’s three things you unplug when you take it apart I would double check all your plug-ins before ordering another battery
@@percyconnolly when I unplugged the old battery there was only the small extension to the motherboard just like in your video. I’ll give it a look tomorrow though and see if I missed any plug ins.
@@percyconnolly ok so i finally got the time to open my laptop back up and check the plug ins near the battery to see if any of them were loose/unplugged they all seem secure. I tried to run my laptop without the battery installed and it does not turn on at all. With the battery in, the laptop turns on and is functional, but again if I unplug the computer it will instantly shut off. I know this isn't the most intuitive way to troubleshoot so I may post my issue to a forum/ community to see if I can get a second opinion.
@@percyconnolly It was identical, so I had no issues. However, when I logged in, BiOS says my charger wasn't charged in. I used my orignal charger it has a blue circle that tells me its pulled in. Plus I let it charge for 12 hours, and it didn't charge. So my question is, would I need to get a new charger? The new battery is the voltage and everything that was written is the same minus the Dell on top of the battery. I saw on the battery that there were bubbles like the one you showed us on your old battery. I do not know what this means.
@@angelphoenix7784 there were issues with BIOs on some of these… double check your connections other viewers missed plugging stuff in on the RE assembly. The swollen battery means is expanding and probably shorting out internally
@@percyconnolly Is there something in BiOS that I can change? Today I took out the battery again, and put it back in. I made sure the battery plug was flush and tight. Now it wont even turn on. My brother told me, I might need a new power cord.

Then somehow the same issue with the trackpad just seemed to fix itself after 40 minutes of trying to figure out what was wrong with it.. Computers...
Dell recently changed my laptop battery and now when i charge the computer, the led is not on. I mean it's charging but the led goes off. Do you know what can i do? Also when i put the cable in ,it takes a bit to start the actual charge. It's a weird behaviour
Which Led? the one on the cord? the one on the cord is all I see. and mine stay lights up as soon as it plugged in. and starts charging right away. you may have a issue with your cord then.

I did not send to dell, for half the price I just bought a aftermarket battery and if that didn’t work then I would sent it out. The battery I replaced is still going strong and have no issues with it as of today

$70 some odd dollars for a battery and I’m still using the laptop daily or another $600 for a new laptop. Seemed wasteful as batteries are a lifetime part there is a shelf like to them

Looking back at the video there are 3 blue connectors in close proximity of the battery I would suggest opening it back up and checking those.

My batter was taped down to the blue strip next to the battery connection and that strip came off when I took it out. Does this need to be replaced?
The blue connector on the ribbon Cable does need to be reattached.

It takes a size 0 Phillips head screw driver, hardware store or dollar store. Eyeglass repair kits generally have one too.

There are magnets, and small friction clips...start at corner with finger nails or plastic prying device.. make sure all the screws are out

Phillips head (+ plus shape) size zero ) Teeny Turn makes them, slightly larger than one for Eyeglass repair. I think I mention it.

@@mattbellamy3967 Not 100% , but if it wont turn on with Battery in Place, I doubt it will run without a battery in it.
