Nice work. The finished project is always fun, but the journey of creating from ideas of form to function & then putting the materials to work is what I enjoy the most. Great content thanks for sharing.

I recently made a pouch for my PM 2 set up scout carry. I don’t like clipping knives in my pockets. Then you can’t use the pocket and they tear up your pants. I wet formed the leather to the knife itself. I used layered cardboard on both sides and clamped it together while it dried. Worked great. Thanks 🎸🔪

I am ALSO super new to wet molding (and leather work in general) but I made a hatchet sheath and cigar case by using a vacuum sealer to really squish it down around the edges. The leather obviously won’t dry in the bag, but it helped set the leather much better than I could have by myself 😂

I made a wet-moulded sheath for my Leatherman Surge. My process was somewhat different, but your way certainly resulted in a beautiful sheath. I would describe the appearance of mine as "utilitarian" 😂.
You've already gotten some good tips here, but I would second the point about making sure you leave enough of the tool sticking out to easily grasp with one's fingers. I learned that the hard way. 😂 Had to go back and cut away part of the sheath after it was all done, which was a PITA.

    • @freakofnatureco

That turned out nice. On the inside of the sheath when your inserting the snap add a small piece of suede to the back side of the snap, it keeps the knife/tool from getting nicked and scuffed up. Thank you for taking time to film, edit and post this video.

You did well, for being new to wet moulding. If I'm attaching a separate belt loop, i will fold it at the top, so the strain is on the leather itself, not the stitching. I may allow more of the tool to extend out of the top, to make grasping easier. (Esp. With my arthritic numb fingers!) Nice job, Hon...

I have seen and tried a "leather washer" of sorts at the top attachment point of a belt loop like hers in the video. Around the thickness of the expected belt, between the belt loop and the back of the sheath, the stiching going through the washer. This way, the wear, the belt will cause is on the washer.

Very well done all the way around.. hey I replied to a convo we had about rivet cutting a day or two ago. For $19 at Harbor Frieght, I found a 14" red handle nipper made by Doyle.. cuts the brass rivets with one hand nicely. (I put the skew# in the comment, I cant recall it now)..

Not wanting to take anything away from the fact that in that way they are supporting a "small" YT channel, but it is a good advertizing for them for almost no costs. (and even the costs they had, are probably tax deductable or being paid from the income before taxes for them)

I follow you on IG and finally got over to your channel. I really like your combo of "tooling" and making a unique pattern. I was wondering what leather you are using. I know it's veg tanned but is it a harness leather? The bridle leather I use doesn't take on water like yours did.
    Keep making videos.

Thanks so much for the support. I use a few different leathers… for my belts I use Sepici natural vegtan (purchase from OA leather) or Herman Oak (purchased from buckskin leather) for my sheaths I use Sepici and Conceria 3S (purchases from Hand and Sew leather) all great stuff! 👌🏼

Love the leather Arc pouch, BUT . . . next time you make one, please include the SIDE POCKETS for tools and accessories. In fact, the ONLY REASON to bother wearing the Leatherman pouch is that I can include extra stuff. PS - Please make room for Leatherman's plastic tool carriers, typically BOTH fit INSIDE the Leatherman pouch while the outside pockets are used for ratchet extensions, etc.

what is the name of the twine you used to stitch it up? I got some of that in my uncles leathercrafting kit when he passed and would like to order some more. there was no label or information on the spool and I've almost run out but can't seem to find anything equal to it. Mine doesn't seem to be sinew or any other leatherworking stitching product I can find. Thanks for your time.
