      The amount of work that goes into it means nothing to me. All I care about is how it functions. This case has nothing on the stock case that comes with it and it fails miserably to my Mora MOLLE sheath. I choose function over looks.

    Even though I have no interest in leather work, I smiled through this video. As a woodworker, I can truly appreciate any type of work in which a skilled workman (woman) can create something of beauty using tools. For that same reason, I've many times watched the quilters on Saturday morning. To the woman who created this sheath, I stand incredibly impressed - well done!

    After making a few sheaths for this knife, I learned to add a little extra to accommodate for the thickness of the leather. I also keep the welting continuous up the hilt of the knife as well. Another thing I do is skive the flesh side of the leather down so I can keep the hair side facing out around the belt loop. This allows the rough flesh side to help prevent the sheath sliding on a smooth leather belt, or even a nylon web belt.

    • @freakofnatureco
      @freakofnatureco  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve gotten that advice a few times to continues the welt all the way up…I will absolutely give that a try next time! Thanks! As for your other piece of advice I think I tried what youre saying on a “restoration” sheath I did a couple weeks ago (video will be up in another couple weeks) and I screwed up so bad, but I’m learning so I’d love to hear what advice you’ll have for me on that video! Give it to me straight! ;)

      @@freakofnatureco Skiving needs a SHARP blade, and a hard surface to do it on. Glass, or a chunk of granite or quartz counter top work fantastically!

    • @mikeford963

      @@freakofnatureco The nice thing with leather is that if you case it before skiving, it's not as hard as on the edge as doing it dry. Also, if you strop the edge before using the knife, it gets REALLY sharp. It's something that should be done with your swivel knife too. Hell, I even do it with brand new razor blades!! Makes a HUGE difference.

    Это, конечно, хорошая работа мастера и всё такое прочее, но у Mora Companion, ровно как и у остальных моделей Mora, отличные ножны. Кожаные ножны всегда хуже пластиковых или композитных.

    $200 custom leather sheath, $15 knife.
    And why are you so clean? You don't look like a leather worker. I end up with stain all over myself, my clothes, my hands, leather fibers everywhere. You finished cleaner than I start.

    wondering ... how do you perfect perfection?
    I admit I like the wood handle N°1 a bit better, but as far as functionality is concerned, both are "perfect" (for my needs/uses).
    Mora SHEATHS kinda suck ... However, unlike other plastic sheaths, they don't have fiberglass fibers "reinforcing" the plastic to dull the blade when the knife is taken out and put back in.
    I found a nice aftermarket leather sheath for mine.
