Excellent. I'm planting my fruit trees here in the Eastern Kentucky clay and was going to amend the soil with black dirt and composted manure. Good to know that I should skip that!

How long does it take a tree like this to grow to produce fruit?

Another great video. I have been pruning my apple trees wrong for the last for the last few years. Noe, thanks to this video, I have a better idea of how to prune the trees. God bless America, the Navy and The Marines. Doc

Great video! My dad and I want to plant a bunch of apple saplings on our property in extremely windy southwest Minnesota where there’s a ton of wind. Would you have any suggestions as far as the planting process goes or the maintenance process? I’m especially interested in the trimming part; how necessary is that? Can we go a couple of years without trimming our trees?

Johnny planted apples to make land claims. He owned thousands of acres when he died.

Unless you spray apple trees with toxic chemicals you won't have a single one that looks good. I've been trying to grow many different varieties of apple trees for 60 years. Waste of time and money.

@@TimFarmerCK I should have gotten some heirloom varieties from the old country. They never needed spraying and produced decent fruit.

From Wikipedia:Timothy "Tim" Farmer (born March 18, 1964) is an American outdoorsman, musician, and television presenter. He is known as the host and executive producer of the television shows Kentucky Afield, Tim Farmer's Country Kitchen, and Tim Farmer's Homemade Jam.,[1] for which he has won a total of five regional Emmy awards.[2] A motorcycle accident in 1984 left Farmer without the use of his right arm, and he has since worked with other Kentuckians to cope with and overcome similar physical disabilities.
