Every of your videos is classic, I 45 years old with 29 years of experience in photography and I still love your work. Thank you for your knowledge and sharing it
Attilio, your passion and commitment are commendable. Not just the content but your easy disposition compels a viewer to sit back and watch the entire video and like me, I'm sure many viewers are in awe. There is always a takeaway from your videos. Love the way you explain and share your experience. Thanks for creating such priceless content and sharing with us. Your work is incredible and your passion contagious. Heartfelt thanks to you, Attilio. Have a wonderful week ahead.
Dear Attilio, thank you very much for your videos. For the person like myself, your videos are priceless. I have a passion for taking photos. I love to take photos. But not everybody teaches for free. I really respect you and wish you more success. Thank you very much!
I have been binge watching your videos....I absolutely LOVE everything about you! Thank you soooo much for the information, I am seriously buying things to prepare my journey with seascape long exposure!
How, and where do you meter the light for your exposure in this low lighting. Matrix metering, center weighted, or even spot meter. and Where do you point it? I'm going out tomorrow night. I live in Tempe, Arizona an dI will try to photograph the Tempe Town Lakes park with bridges and buildings in the background.
I like Attilio s honesty, if the d850 or whatever doesn't suit he ll go back to his D810, that approach is so refreshing, his pursuit for excellence is contagious. so many photographers jump to the next piece of gear, he comes over as genuine and a true artist. One of the best on the internet in my opinion. Keep it up Bill
Nice video, I saw the title and had to watch. I do a lot of long exposures by our local bridge. Its the Bluewater bridge in Point Edward connecting Ontario Canada to Michigan USA. Most of my pictures I do use a 10 stop ND filter. Most of the time I'm shooting at 30 sec ISO 100 and F22 to get a good DoF and smooth water. I like how you mentioned the cost of filters are not cheep for good ones. I started out with a variable ND and it was okay to play around with and learn how to use filters. Thanks for your insight and sharing this info.
Hi Attilio: I really enjoyed this video. I have been to Auckland (April 2019)and I have the similar image but it was taken when the bridge was lighted (red) for ANSAC day. I also use the Loupedeck+ and I find this has a huge time-saver for me. I am really enjoying getting re-acquainted with your channel, so on to the next video. My life during Covid-19 lock-down is You Tube. Cheers, Keith (Canada)
Great video. A lot to learn about long exposures. I am locking forward to see a video about preparing the photos to be printed if is possible. I mean the steps, the format of the photos after editing the raw file to receive the best quality of a print. Thank You for all video you made for us to make long exposures easier to understand and learn. Sorry if the idea for video is not good. Best wishes
While on M mode, setting requires me to push the compensation for 2-3 stops. Inserting ND1000 filter, I enter those value settings on NISI app. The app suggests timescale like 2 minutes plus some seconds. Final result showed the photo was sooo over-exposured ^^ failed > < I had to reduce it to 40-45 seconds and the photo will be great. Asking this coz I could never shoot the photo with longer than 1 minute or more and get amazing blurring affects when motions such as clouds, water, hays, tress are in shape to do. Please kindly point out what have I got wrong with using ND filter.
Once again a fantastic video Attilio, you had some fantastic tips. The way you went through the processes for your New Zealand shot was fantastic. The edit was gorgeous. I think the Loupedeck is going to be very subjective, I have the basic Wacom pad and it took me an age to remember to use it. There will be people who will take to it like a duck to water, and then there’ll be troglodytes like myself who will remain with the ways they know. It’s one of those personal preference things, no right or wrong but different ways of working. There’s a lot of excellent filters out at the moment some say are outdoing Lee such as Benro, Kood, Format-Hitech Firestone and Corkin Nuance (not to be mixed up with their standard resin filters). They also have 85mm for cropped sensors which saves a considerable amount.
Love your chosen composition within the film, and in particular interest for me, taking pictures minus filters. I was surprised how a small adjustment of i.s.o increased relative lightness. Also just how much information can be captured within these few blue light hours. The console blew me away to be honest, as I have yet to edit a single digital photograph. Many thanks again Attilio.
@@AttilioRuffo Not at all. Thank You for providing such interesting, well made films. I'd love to spend a day in your company, I believe you to be an absolutely top Gentleman.
I loved the video. I’ve had some success at blue hour long-exposure photography without filters. I will invest in some filters this year, starting with a good 10 stopper.
Hi Attilio, I do take long exposure in the late evening and/or night. Cityscapes come really good with long exposure. But of course, during any other time of the day, one needs NDs to allow long exposure. I was checking the filter-sets and unfortunately all the good ones are untouchable for me, at least for the time being. With my F90, I did use round ND6, which was of course much cheaper than the rectangular ones. Keep your interactions going! :-)
Another great video Attilio, thanks. Would it be possible to do a tutorial video on your process of creating the really minimal b/w images, like the rocks at Martin's Beach and my personal favourite "Peacefully"
Another nice video :-) I would like to see more of the editing details you did to that photo, very nice. Golden hour and blue hour, I really like the beautiful colors of light in that time of day. As one other viewer mentioned a video about preparing photos for print could be nice. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
@@AttilioRuffo I've already seen it, I use that now :) But I found the image blended cleaner than a long exposure of 5 min or more. And sometimes it's easier to control some short exposure for a very long exposure like 5min and more

Interesting that you just posted this video. I just bit the bullet and ordered a LEE 10 stop ND kit for my 2 lenses both being able to use a wide angle 77mm ring adapter. I’ve tried using a screw on ND filter, and it just seems to make my life more difficult. Hopefully it will help ease my process.

Why not mentioning the way of averaging big number of photos to achieve longer exposure effects. For example 1s photo taken 10 times and averaged in lightroom or photoshop will produce 10s exposure effect on water without using ND filters.
