Used the T3X on a solo road trip into western Canada and Alaska. Camped out for 2 months with a small few of hotel nights for the showers..lol. The Gazelle performed flawlessly and was a very comfortable home for one. A cot along one side. A table and chair on the other and it was very nice accomodation when then weather got wet.
A couple years in, and many camps later and I'm still loving my Gazelle T-8. Fantastic company with great build quality and design features. This T-Hex looks amazing! Great vid, Michael. - Kuhn OB #10810
I've been looking at these. Love my T4 Plus Overland. But with two teenagers the extra space would be great. And you're 100 percent correct. Never have an issue getting it back in the bag.
I've had the T4 overland for about 2 years and I love it. I had a RTT before that and honestly I'll never go back to one simply bc now I'm spoiled by how easy my T4 is to set up. When a RTT is 7 or 8 ft off the ground is a total pain in the a**. Never again. And the gazelle company are some of the nicest folks in the world. So easy to deal with. Highly recommend any of their tents.
I have a T3 and a T4. The T3 is cozy solo, but the T4 has more than enough room for 2. This one looks like I could fit ALL my gear in it! I have put both of mine up and down multiple times on my own, easy peasy. I would not love climbing up and down a ladder at night or early in the morning!
Gazelle is very good quality. I bought my Gazelle T3X from the Overland Bound store three years ago. I call it the Nylon Cabin. Cot, table, and chair all fit inside. I could probably fit a camel in there, too, but obviously that’s more of a Moab trip than Teton.
I bought a Gazelle T4 when I was in between RVs. It sets up in 30 seconds and I can do it by myself. The dogs dont help much because they dont have thumbs and are usually busy grab-assing. I've had the tent in rain and snow storms and it is solid. Throw in a Mr Buddy heater and the tent is toasty in two minutes. I have to crack the windows to regulate heat. The only thing I had to get used to was the unusual doors. Great tent.
Really interesting tent. Would love too see rain fly. In my experience it’s the rain fly that makes or breaks if tent is good. Guess it depends on where you live and time of year you camp.
yes ! and the ability to open the door to get in/out while it is raining without rain getting into the tent. and to open windows and doors for ventilation during a summer rain storm and still stay dry
Luke with the outdoor gear review YT channel tested another version of this tent in a MAJOR thunderstorm and HIGH WIND event. The tent had a MINOR leak, but overall PASSED. The only "issue" he had was with the poor design of the tent stakes.
I really wish gazelle would learn to secure it’s bathtub floor liners with zippers instead of Velcro. That would make it perfect for my use in Florida where bugs get anywhere there’s the slightest little gap. Just out of curiosity, what is the total diameter of this tents footprint? How does it compare to a ShiftPod?
I have the T4-Plus, and the only thing I worry about, is it packs so fast, that it can be stolen in minutes when left alone, while we are out and about. 🤣
Gotta put away to use vehicle too. I'm thinking sleep in truck bed and have annex gazebo room we can drive away from. Maybe a swag for kids to sleep in under a tarp awning. Have mini tow along chuckbox.
I have had a T3 and T4 regular and Overland Edition and I did love them. In my opinion they could improve them greatly by incorporating some sort of awning into their design. There is just something special about having that fabric overhead while sitting in your camp chair sipping a mug of joe in the morning. Or watching your fire from a distance while sitting under the awning being somewhat shielded from a light rain or misty drizzle. I now have an Oztent RV3 and yes they are pricey but I have more ground tents then you can count, large and small, in all different types of materials from rip stop nylon to GoreTex, to Duck Canvas and in my opinion you cannot top the Oz Series for ease of set-up/take-down, durability, comfort and modularity. But.......the Gazelles are bomb units and for the price point, do also make great Overlanding units!
Agree, I have a different brand with a front awning - it is my favorite feature & use that space more than the time I spend inside the tent. My dogs have an outside shade area with it too (admittedly - this is THE reason I chose this particular tent, then came to love it for me too 😅). Hoping to find a larger hub with a front awning now.
Nice video, you can also get these in a waterproof quilted insulated type with stove jack and removable Velcro in floor, good for all year round camping/overland trips and the best thing about this hub type tent is that they can be pitched anywhere even on tarmac and strapped to the vehicle wheels, they make a fantastic sideroom, for everything from showering, lavatory, kitchen, or shelter from the elements for trial bike repairs or maintenance to just hanging out if it's raining, I've a hboa brand, similar to the gazelle, 6'6" squared only weighs 18.4kg 140cm long, great piece of kit, enjoyed the video, 👍🚙👌🇨🇮☘️
I bought a Gazelle a few years ago but it eats to much and won't stand in the same place long enough for me to sleep under... I don't get all the hype.
There is a rain fly - it’s separate in the bag and should have put it on. It’s very easy to attach. The tents are incredibly robust in the wind. The Gazelle IG has a recent video of the aftermath of a severe wind storm. The Gazelles were fine. All the other tents were shredded. Thank you for watching!
Where do you live that cramping season is here?? Pnw still rain and snow and high 30s. Would love to be there. Ps first comment!! Pss had a gazelle before there was an overland edition still love mine.
Putting the rain fly and staking it down not 90 seconds. Popping it up yes. 90 seconds or 180 seconds it’s just simple to put up. I keep hearing 90 seconds stop it.
If you're camping on the ground a hub tent is better. That's ice fishing tents for cold weather with Otter or Eskimo. Gazelle is in control of the warm weather market. There are some alternatives for cold and hot weather. They're just fast. If you need to warm it up or just get it set up quick. If you're hiking in refer back to the old ways.
Definitely never done and probably a choice many are trying to do I opted for the Gazelle, price was not the consideration. Oztent has greater quality fabric and details justifying the price premium RV was too bulky for me (don’t want to buy a roof rack to transport it, lift and bring down that huge weight) I live in a windy area and mostly camp 1 or 2 nights and move on: RV is a better base camp, not a quick install at all once guy ropes, fly, screens and panels are involved Some people hate the doors, it’s not practical but has a huge great benefit: little dust or sand can get blown in. Packs easy with ample space I am very happy with my Gazelle OL apart from : 1:very pointy stakes, lost half the protection on first trip, they damage the carry bag. 2. Lining up the flysheet can be fiddly Warning, in very strong winds, the roof may collapse (not a big deal with Guy ropes all around) Oztent would be my first choice in some camping situations, I just don’t do that camping enough to be burdened with set ups times every camp.
@@Toubabou Thank you for the response! I agree that the Oztent is huge and heavy. I found out many folks buy the cheap kayak mounts and use that to transport the RV. For setup time and door size, were you referring to the gazelle or Oztent?
@@jeepncj7 I was talking about the Gazelle’s door: it has a funny odd shape that narrow at the bottom and require to step in (but that height prevent dirt entry) Entire set up time (all guys and stakes) would also be quicker than Oztent with all stakes (before all panels etc).
So, they look great! But…once you spread the tarp down, set it up with the poles now for the door, stake everything down and put on the rain fly…it’s not 90 seconds. Let’s race sometime with my soft shell RTT.. you’re not going to be saving time. Great video, still a very cool product for the right application. I just look at setup time as setup start to finish and I’ll bet it isn’t faster.
Depends. Those rtt I showed when discussing that are SLOW! I’ll be asleep before that tent is up. Had one. The more deluxe hard shell are great. Faster for sure.
FINALLY!!! Something that will cater to a family of 6 plus dogs. I have too many kids for what’s been on the market. I will def be getting this and doing a real time review. It now needs a mattress that goes in the center … 😊😊 wink
Great review thank you. We love large cavernous tents and this one's advantage is that the longest dimension is still just 12' which is the typical max length of tent pads in our area. One key detail that we would really love to know is, what is the width and height of each hex side? For the height, it's relevant because often the center of the tent has something like a bed covering the floor, so we're curious if one is standing closer to the wall, say 2' away from it, how high is the roof at that point?
90 sec? I call BS! That's what was said regarding the T4 overland and the total time for setup is similar to a pole tent as the foot print staking down, the tent itself plus staking it down and finally... adding the rainfly and tying that down is not included in the setup time estimate. Try all that with a wee bit of wind.. it's even worse. Great marketing hype tho.
Will never beat a rooftop! Still need to setup a strecher or matress and bedding, opening a rooftop it is all ready to go. Same when packing away. Thus your 90 seconds will never compare to a rooftop!
90 seconds, timed. That includes the high speed floor layout and cut-away. Does not include staking or flytop. So bare bones set-up is 90 seconds. really hate it when people claim one thing and deliver another. Or when the leave steps out. Is it a fast set up? yes. Is it is 90 second set up? no. Edit to add. I guess I should have watched more. That timed 90 seconds did not include the door frame poles.
Love how quick and easy that looked...unfortunately outside of hunting, the homeless have ruined any joy of camping in tents and RV's. If I'm not hunting, all I can think is that I'm paying to live like the homeless. Sorry don't mean to be a bummer. Great looking tent though!
Having a stuff sack that easily accommodates putting the tent back inside gives me additional confidence in the company.
Yeah, I got my T-4 a few years ago because of you guys, and happily so, and I just bought this one for my son and his family. We love these tents!
Not surprised they turned the g6 gazebo in to a tent, we love our gazebo

Best tents ever! I have the T4, T4 Plus Hub and the Gazebo. All great. Roof top tents be damned!
i love my gazelle t3x now im thinking of ordering the T-hex for the family.
Yeah buddy I'm getting one soon!! I love my T4. Glad someone finally finally did a video for this tent.
Nice shot of the Alden 405s too...great review Michael.
One of the best birthday gifts ever!
My grail boots...no pun intended. What waxed jacket is that? Kinda looks like the flint and tinder one. Perfect patina. Oh yeah...nice tent. Haha

Thank you for sharing, Mike. I like....
Awesome video as always Michael. Your videos are always full of helpful tips and tricks.
Thank you for the kind words!
I love my T4!!! I set up my camp so fast its epic!!
Love the pup!
Luke with the outdoor gear review YT channel tested another version of this tent in a MAJOR thunderstorm and HIGH WIND event. The tent had a MINOR leak, but overall PASSED.

Lolol. Need something to lock joints lolol then cnt be put away and no one would take it lolol. A key lolol
No one nos what inside you have pillows, blankets, cots if your like me .
I absolutely love my Gazelle, but I am pretty jealous of that large entry way on this new one.

Look at the Plus tents. They have a whole 8x8 room attached.

Hoping to find a larger hub with a front awning now.
I have the Orange T4. It is awesome. Except during the day, that bright orange is a bit much. Can I get a trade in? 😅
I dunno what I like more, the tent or the pup's zoomies

man these are so sick- if you're camping on level spots, these are definitely the way to go
I was looking to build out the interior of my T4R to be warm and quieter in windy conditions. I don’t have to climb a ladder or set up a tent.
Liked and subscribed to your chanel.
I'm the guy with a small chanel and we met with you today. Great videos man
Awesome! I just saw this comment! It was very nice to meet you. What is your channel again? Loved the 80 series!
Very nice.Thank you .
LOVE THE NEW COLOR
Loving my T4+!
I bought a Gazelle a few years ago but it eats to much and won't stand in the same place long enough for me to sleep under... I don't get all the hype.
Ok this made me laugh
lol
What do you use for “beds” in the Gazelles? Cots, air mattresses? Thank you Michael.
Air mattress, a thin foam pad, and cot depending on the person. Corrie like a cot cause RA
We have a T 4 plus, and a T 3. Were I to make the purchase today, this one would be my go to tent. The T 4 plus is amazing-but its a beast!
I love my T4! I want to the purple T hex hub, but 62 lbs …. I don’t think I can handle it alone…
Do you have any issues with the velcro at the bottom of the front door?
I’m considering moving to this from the RTT. My only concern is fondling level ground and flooding (maybe snakes, scorpions and spiders lol)
How does this tent and the other models of Gazelles handle rain especially wind blown rain since there is no rain fly?
There is a rain fly - it’s separate in the bag and should have put it on. It’s very easy to attach. The tents are incredibly robust in the wind. The Gazelle IG has a recent video of the aftermath of a severe wind storm. The Gazelles were fine. All the other tents were shredded. Thank you for watching!
Love my Gazzelle, BUT. the top screen lets in dust on windy trips and no way to stop.
Someone on TH-cam uses a MSR 92x92 with attachments footprint, it fits perfectly on the tent under the fly.
does it have a rain shield for the top
It does. Goes on easily.
So the floor is attached at all times and the floor you put down first is for water proofing? So essentially two floors?
What is the fast and comfortable bed setup that rivals the built in bed of the RTT?
Thin foam pad (accordion style) bag.
does the rain fly come with it? did not see it in the video.
Can this be connected to back of truck or van ? Or come with additional doors?
Where do you live that cramping season is here?? Pnw still rain and snow and high 30s. Would love to be there. Ps first comment!! Pss had a gazelle before there was an overland edition still love mine.
Think the Sierra Nevadas, like Tahoe area
Looks just like a SHIFTPOD but maybe more affordable..
Awesome review
I guess i ask, why didnt you show product set-up with Fly Secured ??
Putting the rain fly and staking it down not 90 seconds. Popping it up yes. 90 seconds or 180 seconds it’s just simple to put up. I keep hearing 90 seconds stop it.

Didn't mention the cost > $700
great pool
Why does this tent only have 3.5 stars on Amazon?
I'd love to see a Gazelle vs Oztent both in setup time, and materials/finish. The RV3 and T4 are what I'm looking at.
Definitely never done and probably a choice many are trying to do

what happens when it rains on that trap? O I C it does have a floor.

I just want this one 'cause it's purple
?? How would this work in the desert?

The biggest decision to make between rooftop tent and ground tent is; do you ALWAYS want your tent to be where your car is.
This is a key point!
You never showed the front main door actually opened full

yikes- HUGE PRICE TAG
Yay!!
How's the seam stitching equality? I've been seeing people getting shotty workmanship on recent Gazelle tents.
Oh man, we haven’t seen anything like that ourselves. But we know Gazelle is great at honoring their warranty and making things right.
Best tent I’ve ever owned
Love my hotel suite
I want to like this, but they seem so bulky.
It looks like it’d be too long to fit in my car…
60 seconds to setup and breakdown 60 minutes to put it in the bag 😂
Too big. I need something much smaller.
The T3 sizes are a great option. Shorter in height, smaller bag, less weight, same quick pitch design.
I want this tent so bad…. I’m having such a hard time with the color. It’s hideous….
Such a disingenuous tactic, utilizing a fish eye lens to distort and enlarge the interior view.
Those umbrella style tents are a joke.
Muhahahaha, $1000 for an average tent, hard pass. A fool and their money.......
Love how quick and easy that looked...unfortunately outside of hunting, the homeless have ruined any joy of camping in tents and RV's. If I'm not hunting, all I can think is that I'm paying to live like the homeless. Sorry don't mean to be a bummer.

Are you a true overlander without leaving a tent on your roof 365 days of the year? Oh and empty gas a water tanks on the side
