Always love to see how well thought out and professional this tank setup is, almost like a clinical lab setup. Shows how the hobby can go from a budget nano to something this complex.
Thank you.. "name has slipped my mind" is the most common type of coral in my tank. Pleased to see I am not unique as having one or more :) Always enjoy someone taking time to explain what is in their tank, not simply equipment. I've mixed some "Hikari Marine Seaweed Extreme" with my normal pellets to raise the vegetable matter level for my fish. Not sure of any effect but may be something to consider for things like tangs or some blennies. Looking at probe location, in the main tank I had the problem of coraline algae. I don't have a lot in my tank but it loves to grow on probes. Moved them down into sump (only have temp and ph) so they don't get the light levels which was part of the reason for growth. Temp is nowhere near as accurate but don't use it to control temperature anyway.
I’ll have to look into the veggie pellets. Yeah I had the probes in the sump for a while. The only think I didn’t like was that when I turn on a 45min feed mode o basically didn’t have values. Or if I’m away from my tank ever and the return pump fails, I wouldn’t get a temp warning that my tank is running cold or hot. Maybe the way is to create a small black box over the probes
You prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
@Allan Derek Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This is a great Reef, well done. I have a similar setup (250 reefer, Profilux, MP40s) but i am struggling with my flows. The MP40 is less than optimal for this tank size and i have capped them at 30%. Anything above that will tear my LPS corals. Would it be possible to share your MP40s schedule?
@@carlosa.5644 I'm loving my redsea 350. I did change the valve to a spears gate valve as it was a complete pain to adjust and i kept having to adjust it continuously. So got sick and changed it. I don't reccomend the lights or the skimmer. I started off with the 90watt led from them and with in 7 months it died. They did repair it but i then sold it off for a hydra 32hd. The red sea skimmer sucks. The " quiet operation" is bullshit. I have a tmc 8000 dc return pump on setting 13 , 2 gyre XF330's on 40% random mode. And the decibels was 34 with them all on but skimmer off. Soon as you turn the skimmer on decibels jumped to 58-65 which is obviously not "quiet". Red sea refused to help in any shape or form. Even though the pump seemed broken as it was rattling really badly. I had no choice but to sell it to someone who didnt mind the noise lost over £100 over something that was used for less than 2 hours total. From then on ive completely stayed clear of red sea. Im afraid that if the 350 tank fails. They will not cover warranty. They ignore emails as well if you push too far. I know this as i sent them an email with another account and they replied within 2 days. Even though the 350 is a beautiful tank and cabinet i do not reccomend it. Of course i might have been the 1% of the bad experiences. But i just gave you what happened to me it could have happened with any brand but happened with redsea.
Bradley Hite thanks! I have had a few people hit me up already. I will have to figure out how I want to do this. Perhaps the best way is to do some sort of drawing. Thanks for watching!
Spoolin Shawn hahaha all I want them to do is to move somewhere nice. But they just love that corner. I had a nice large anemone for over a year and they didn’t care at all. So I just got rid of it because it cause more problems that it was worth
Massive amount of cash thrown at the tech, yet the tank is pretty unimpressive. Just shows that you do not need half of this kit to successfully keep a happy reef.
You can get it directly from GHLs website. I test 4 times a day. Annual cost of Reagent is probably close to $50-60? If I were to guess. But I was spending more than that with my henna checker
Hugo Hage I keep a yellow tang in mine. Are you looking to keep both...? If they are both small you could certainly introduce them at the same time and maybe rehome them once they get bigger.
Im pretty sure you could keep one just fine! It’s a 54G display, definitely on the lower side. Most people recommend 75G ish, but my yellow tang seems pretty happy and it’s been over 2 years
Bryan james haha I agree... definitely more than what is needed. Plenty of people have success even with only doing water changes. I will say that my setup does help me keep my hands off the tank.
unecessary gear that will crash your tank and they sell the stuff for pennys and quit the hobby. There is no replacement for manual labor in this hobby. All these garbage gear will get you no where. Totally unecessary especially for tank this size. There were more beautiful tanks back 10 20 years ago with very simple equipment. These days its this kind of ridiculous gear and they have few frag sticks and tank looks like garbage.

Dedlifts I appreciate it! Speaking of lab. There’s literally a microscope in one of those cubbies
What is that auto feeder? I like that floating square that lets the dry food soak up water and sink instead of getting sucked yup by the overflow

@Allan Derek It worked and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass :D
Here cuz Telegraham! Keep these coming. Your setup is NICE.
Bahama Llama Coral thanks bro! I’ve gotta check out your content too! Looks like you’ve got it going on!
@@HobbySci Don't judge my ugly setup. LOL. It's the next project in the hopper.
Hope all is well?! How's the tank doing?

How do you like the tank? I'm looking in to purchasing this one or the 350. Nice video
I like it a lot. Quite pricy but if you like that minimalistic look it may be the way to go. You should also checkout water box aquariums
I'm also looking at their tanks. I'm on the fence at the moment. I hear Waterbox has good quality built tanks.

Hello sci, Amazing equipament and tank ,
you use magnetic sterrier in your dosing
containers, what are they, what is the brand.
josesousajs they are GHL branded stirrers with dosers
@@HobbySci, thanks, it makes sense, everything GHL
Nice setup! I have a 170 and love the Red Sea quality. I would pay shipping for a jawbreaker.
Bradley Hite thanks! I have had a few people hit me up already. I will have to figure out how I want to do this. Perhaps the best way is to do some sort of drawing. Thanks for watching!
Great thanks let me know.
What did decide on the jawbreakers?
Bradley Hite I’ll do some raffles in my next video or something
I have a reefer 170 and my 2 clownfish hang out in the same corner and kick up the sand too! Would love a jawbreaker!

Spoolin Shawn I can def hook it up. Just need to find a way to Ge them off the rocks
Duncan's have been tough for me as well, not sure why
Russel Muldowney they grew like crazy in my old system. It was higher nutrients though
What happened with the leopard wrasse?
Rarely gets cold in Texas...🥶🤔
Watching this makes me second guess getting into the hobby. So complicated. How do so many of these hobbyists get away with such simpler systems.
Massive amount of cash thrown at the tech, yet the tank is pretty unimpressive. Just shows that you do not need half of this kit to successfully keep a happy reef.
Very nice 👍
What company is your cool box
Mega cool 👍🏼
What is your current mp40s setting and percentage?
Something Special around 40-50% reef crest
HobbySci Thx!
How do you top of your system from evaporation?
I have a 12G auto top off container. It’ll typically last me about 2-3 weeks. So yeah I lose maybe around 5g a week
Hey do you have problems with your overflow randomly changing water height? I have the reefer 250 v3 and constantly adjusting the valve.
Reefing Guy no never really had that problem.. maybe just leave it a bit more open?
Make sure you’re not going over the Emergency overflow
Yeah it’s constant up and down in there. What return pump do you use?
I’m running a Varios 4
HobbySci at 100%?
Where do you buy your Kh director reagent from?
You can get it directly from GHLs website. I test 4 times a day. Annual cost of Reagent is probably close to $50-60? If I were to guess. But I was spending more than that with my henna checker
@@HobbySci awesome. Thanks. Just got one for my red sea 350.
Take your time setting it up. You’ll love it. It’s become such a critical piece of equipment
Hi, is a rsr 250 big enough to keep a yellow/purple tang without having to rehome?
Hugo Hage I keep a yellow tang in mine. Are you looking to keep both...? If they are both small you could certainly introduce them at the same time and maybe rehome them once they get bigger.
Thanks, looking to keep one or the other 👍
Could I keep on or the other in tank without having to rehome or it that too small for a tang?

Subbed. 👍
This is the new trend in the reefing hobby these days. Thousands and thousands of totally un gear that will eventually crash your tank be
Why are you over complicating things I have the same tank and more corals and a buitiful reef all this is not needed lol

Not pulling it down it looks great tho
Bryan james you have an IG account? Would love to check out your tank
Agreed Over complicated setup. But yea nice setup if/for your state aquarium but not needed for this setup
