i think the distance is a big factor. i am spearing in pretty murky water with about 10-12ft visibility. its easy to squint your eyes and see even farther than what your gun can shoot. also it seems that our eyes arent seeing exactly what is truly happening under water. what i mean is that the perspective seems to be slightly sqewed.
Not all places in the world have such skittish fish to where you need a consistent aim, I dive down in Louisiana and everything you shoot out here is 40lb +, that along with the fish not being skittish is a good time to practice shooting from the hip lol😂
