I very much enjoyed getting to know Prince Frederick in this Doco. I am proud of our Aussie gal Princess Mary and together they are a mighty team united in their work, family and relationship. Prince Frederick is truly reflective of his upbringing. Superb.

This is such a moving love letter to his family, his wife and his country.
The guy asking for 10 seconds of the prince’s time at 6:00 messed up big time, cause he addressed him as “you” instead of “they”, multiple times even. Thankfully the prince doesn’t really care, especially if it’s children or young people who forget it, but when a professional interviewer forgot it during an interview with the queen, it went so viral, it wa so funny, but so embarassing.
I if had been born in a royal family, I would've left as soon as possible when I turned 18. Not being able to decide everything for myself, and be born with more than almost everyone else, I'd hate it, since it's against everything I find important, which is 100% selflessness, equality, and serving the greater good, which is planet earth, not mankind necessarily, cause let's be real, earth would be a much better place without us, but also boring I guess, so doing the best for mankind is also part of it I guess. And all of this, not cause I care about earth or mankind at all, but cause improving the health of the planet of the lives of other people, makes my life easier, which I really care about, cause I'm the laziest person you'll ever meet. So actually it's a philosophy that comes from the most egotistical and selfish place, cause when you are as smart as me, you really hate other people's emotionally based opinions, which is why I love infrastructure so much for instance, cause it stays even when politics shift, and serves the people the most out of anything.
He is an adulterer, he has no control over his sexual drive. He cannot stay true to his wife and children, how will he serve his country? No control Frederick! He serves himself first, no consideration for family.

@@klaudia2141 In Danish we have a formal/polite form and a informal form when addressing another person. The polite form is, or rather was, used when addressing people you are not acquainted with or who is of a higher class/status ("de"), and the informal is for more personal relations ("du"). However since about the 1970's danish society has pretty much done away with the old social hierarkis at least formally, and thus the the formal form of address is almost never used these days. Everyone just says "du" when addressing each other and it's considered perfectly polite EXCEPT when it comes to the Royal family! You always address members of the Royal family with the formal "de", especially the queen/king. Unfortunately since this form is so rarely used, some tend to forget, and it has caused some embarrassing situations form time so time. :)
The English language had the same distinction back in the day: formal "you" and informal "thou", but in contrast to danish only the formal form is used in English today, and that's why this problem does not exist in English.
Thus the translation of "du" as "you" and "de" as "they" is in this case wrong. Here "du" is "thou" and "de" is "you".
it was so good to see a Prince soon to be King who literally put himself to a heavy duty job and just wearing normal clothes.
Prince Frederik looks absolutely gorgeous, amazing to think that he is already past 50. He is fit, athletic and is such a devoted Prince not only to his country Denmark, but also to his equally charming, beautiful and intelligent wife, Princess Mary.
With such a good and loving couple these two are, the monarchy will be in such good hands should Queen Margrete decides to hand over her crown to her son.
When our King died 51 years ago the current Queen (HRH Margrethe the second) became queen. That is how it is done, just like you see these very days in UK. When that happened the new regent steps out on the balcony at Amalienborg castle and a speaker shouts. The king is dead. Long live the Queen. The Monarch have said she will follow our 1000 year tradition and stay until her passing except if hit by an illness that takes away her mental capabilities like dementia. That tradition may sound harsh but remember that the populations (The Kingdom of Denmark consists of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands) inside the Kingdom then will share the mourning with the new Monarch and have a deep empathy with that monarch, in that moment, as well. SO, our Queen will not "hand down" anything except for the reason given. And that is how it should be. That is our tradition and culture. Our current Queen have and do a fantastic job if you ask us Danes. I am equally sure that when the current Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary´s time come they will do it their way and that is also how it should be.
That is NOT the queens decision - at all! She has absolutely not direct political power. She's brought him up to be as competent as can be, that's her job done!
He will be appointed by the goverment, which represents the people. And we will cheer him because we respect him and love his wife!
But yes - They are fabulous people! They are cool, clever, cute and have a lot of respect from the Danes.
@@Mike-zx1kx I love her artistic side . Creating book covers for "Lord of the Rings books ( Danish version ) and last September went to the premiere of the movie ( she did the art direction and costume ) So she is still productive aside from being the monarch

This is what modern a monarch (in waiting) should be. Be part of the thousands-year old tradition at the same time being relevant to contemporary lives.
This is how most of the monarchs in waiting in Europe are - and they know each other - - many of them are related. As are their parents. Prince Philip was a danish prince.

@@24NOV22 Nothing in particular. He's just a pompous prick. He'd fit perfectly in the English royal family, but no so much in Scandinavia.
H.M. knows very well he's not liked by the Danes, and she has down-graded his kids, so they can't live of the state. Joakim thought that was scandalous!
Plus, she's upgraded Mary to be her stand-in as Head of State. A role Frederik's oldest children also will fill, when they come of age.
This way Frederik will not have to deal much with Joakim, his wifes and kids, outside the family, when he becomes king.
Our queen is very intelligent, and on top of that she's a very wise woman, which makes her exceptional 🥰🥰🥰

Hmmm 🤔 It's more like they are in good hands with the Danish people. Have you seen their security? They are poor and they have absolutely no political power. They are employed as Denmark's representatives by the Danish taxpayers.
Fortunately they are highly respected for their hard work, their knowledge and intelligence. I call my self a convinced socialist, but with royals like we've got, you can't possible be against monarcy. They are simply the best!

Having been brought up in the Royal Hotel called Amelianborg Palace,Frederik decided when he was 18, that he wanted a proper marriage and wanted to bring up his own children ,together with his wife. This is what they discussed when they became engaged, , according to several speeches he has given over the years. Prince William and his wife have just made a similar choice . Crown Princess Mary met Princess Catherine earlier this year , and Prince William is meeting Frederik and Mary in New York in 3 weeks time . Is this all part of the plan to remodel the British Royal Family? Meanwhile Prince Edward lives in a 120 roomed house ! What does he need so many rooms for?

When watching them out and about, I like to play "spot the security", and I take the lack thereof as proof.
The queen gave a televised Covid-speach to us, and then a journalist asked a young, tough looking lad, if he thought that would have any effect on his behaviour. He answered:

The command responsibility as a king is no joke, he is a leader, an interpreneur, a political man, a citizen, and contributes a lot to the future and development of his country, to connect with other nations. Really a big responsibility. Who ever thought being king is full of pleasure? Thats only the thinking of a simple man but not the KING.

Wow. An amazing documentry that shows royalty as being everyday people who work so hard. A real eye opener for me to watch. A very down to earth couple who live and play as a family. Hope these children in the future realize how lucky they were tp have them as parents
The monarchy shouldn’t exist anymore. It’s outdated, old, irrelevant, and gives some non elected people, a aingle family, a high status in society. And justnin general, all old should be replaced with new, as often and as quickly as possible, survival of the fittest, as nature’s only rule is, our current solidaric society will be the downfall of humanity, cause it’s going against the fundamental laws of nature and mankind. And the climate especially can’t handle so many billions of people, why, if we didn’t have medicine, the kind people take daily that is, people would die much younger, which means a far lower average age for humanity, which means more replacement, younger people with fresh new ideas getting elected, and so on. People who need daily medicine for cronic diseases, or need to go to the hospital cause of lifestyle diaseases, they either need to live more healthily, or just deal with the consequences of their actions, instead of being kept allow for decades by medicine. But that’s never gonna get a vote, why another solution would be people who’ve gotten ill cause of lifestyle choices, they have to pay for their treatment themselves afterwards, and if they die, the bill goes to their family and relatives, so tax payers don’t have to pay for people smoking, drinking or whatever.
I'm not fully done with the subtitles, I'll proof-read and go over them again tomorrow, so they will improve within a day or two, but so far, so good. Enjoy the show!

The translation about his time looking into sports and becoming part of a so-called `frogmansmans corps` is not a soldier (as stated in parenthesis) but the equivalent of a navy seal. Thank you for posting, it is indeed an authentic family we have been lucky to have with our royals.

I have visited Denmark on three occasions and have fallen in love with the country and its wonderful culture and people. I have amazing friends living in Copenhagen who are some of the most kind and joyful people I know. The crown prince and princess radiate their love for their country, and do their countrymen and women proud in their duties as royals and as caring parents. Wonderful documentary!
Me too. I travelled there first in 92 & 93 and again in 2004. The people are modest and educated and they like us Australians. Travel really gives us the ability to see how other people live - their traditions and lives of art, music, of state and ceremonial friendship and respect.

It must be hard, living in a glass bowl like they are. Fortunately for them, they live in a country where their private life is mostly respected (paparazzi's are EVERYWHERE, after all), and they can get away with allowing the Press into their lives in moderation.
I am Nordic myself (Icelandic, a former Danish subject), I found the informality of this family absolutely normal.
It took a while, scanning through the comments here, for me to realize an unusual fact: There is a total absence of negative or hateful comments!
This just goes to show why the Danish (and the other Nordic countries) are consistently classified as the happiest (spelled: the least discontent) nations in out world.
Grateful to have stumbled upon this, watched it through. Crown Prince Frederick embodies much needed inspiration especially In today's crazy world. God bless.

What a truly inspirational man he is. He is going to be a fantastic King. Both him and Mary are so very switched on to everything going on in this world and don’t live in a gilded cage. You can see by the way they are with their lovely children what a happy and loving family they are.
This was absolutely wonderful to watch. Very poignant and genuinely introspective. This royal family seems so…normal…so authentic. Even with all the official duties, ceremonies, and regalia, they seem very well grounded and open to allowing the monarchy to evolve. (Quite a contrast from the British monarchy.)

If Denmark is an example, the Constitutional monarchy is perhaps superior to a republic form of government. The royals give the country stability and continuity regardless of which political parties control the government. If you have a Mary and Frederik who obviously love their country and work hard as ambassadors for it, then I certainly think that the countries in Europe who have kept their royals have an advantage over those who have not. Very impressed by Mary and agree with those in the film, she has helped complete him. Lucky man.

I loved this program. I have been interested in the Danish Royal Family for years. Crown Prince Frederik and his beautiful wife Crown Princess Mary and their family are very popular throughout the world. Queen Margrethe II is a lovely lady and is close to our own Queen Elizabeth.

I love Denmark my husband and I visited the country in May of 2017 by Viking Sky cruise ship. We did enjoy our visit it a beautiful, peaceful country. There people are beautiful and respectful. We tour the remarkable site of Copenhagen and the castle courtyard.
Hoping to visit once again. I love the Royal family. The former Queen and her family is so remarkable.

I really enjoyed that. Thank you. If Prime Charles had been even half the man Frederick is his life and the lives of his sons would have turned out differently. Also if William and to a certain extent Harry, had been the oportunistas Frederick was allowed, then their lives would certainly be different as well. I love h ow CP Mary totally gets her husband and is an amazing support for him. When his time comes Fredrick will make a great king. He was born into the job and did not have nay choice in his future career and he has faced the challenge and made it his own. Well done!

I really hope that he still feels this way about his wife Mary; I really don't want to believe the rumors of him being with someone else and the way he explains it in this, is it's a wonderful thing to be able to sleep next to your best advisor and that's his wife. I wish him well in being the new King in Denmark. I think that he'll be a good leader for the country and I hope that he continues to be a good husband and father. (from Sandi)
I have always envisaged the work of the royals such as this and to see it, feel it, and breath it through Crown Prince Frederick's eye is a true marvel. I adore Crown Princess Mary and had much respect for Frederick however, after watching this video and understanding their joint integrity, truth and passion in their roles takes Frederick to new levels.
I have watched both documentaries and find the presentation, the content and the storyline professional and outstanding to say the least. Bravo to this highly respected and much loved royal couple and family. May you reign Supreme and successfully 😄👏🤎

I always admire this pair of Royals attending lots of Royals ceremonies and now I realise that they represent their queen of Denmark,I love to see the princess fashion clothes as well as princess Katherine. I didn't know much about king Fredrick but I am reading and looking at the videos of their storey a wonderful love story you ment for eachother you are really a true king for your family your people of your country and others ,the queen stick with her king ,I love the speech she give about him, he is so much more we don't know about him what a man what a King my love from Canada 🇨🇦👑👑❤️

Er ist der absolute Traummann. Seine Mutter hat alles richtig gemacht. Er ist so herzlich, sensibel und trotzdem total selbstbewusst, einfach nur wunderbar. Seine Mutter war schon toll, aber er wird glaube ich noch toller sein Land regieren und so, wie sich sein Junior entwickelt, wird es wohl so weitergehen. Davon können die anderen, mit Ausnahme von Haakon, nur träumen.
