It’s just the other weapons are far less viable. Other weapons other than the GL and Melta need major bolter buffs. Melee needs a huge buff. If the game just had those balances and bolt weapons and melee were actually effective, people would have far more variety to chose from, meaning less people pick the GL out of necessity
No nerfs. Nerfing ain't balancing. Melee needs buff. If you where able to get health back in a way like in spacemarine 1then most weapons would be good. Maybe i misunderstood but that my idea

To circle it back to helldivers 2, they just went through it after ruining their game due to nerfing based on spreadsheets and pick rates. It got worse and worse and worse until people finally had enough. So if saber has two brain cells to rub together they would learn from that mistake and stop half doing the job and just buff the trash guns no one uses.
I don't understand this perspective...... if you buff everything you remove the challenge from the game. Nerfs are necessary for the health of any game. Anyone who cares about any game and isn't a passing tourist who plays 1 class and 1 gun, should understand this.

Helldivers 2 had the same problem. People were using the fire shotgun too much because every other weapon was dog water. Time to kill was far too high and the suck all around. Except Arrowhead kept nerfing the guns everyone was using because they were chosen too much and too powerful. The problem becomes if you use nerfs as your primary way of balancing your game it's a race to the bottom. Make the weapons feel powerful so people can choose different ones they might not normally use and add different enemies and many more of them are two good ways you can balance your game other than nerfs.
Bolters are the heart of 40K - the bolter weapon head shot damage is appalling. Equally, when a simple Gant is knocked back by a volley of bolter fire instead of being incinerated.
i think the main problem with the grenade launcher is that for the power it brings it is to strong that you can get all grenades back every 30 sec. If you had to manage the ammo for the grenades it would be ok.
Remove Melta and Grenade Launcher, then the game will die because the other weapons suck. So i kinda want it to happen to now lmao. Game has to die before Saber will understand they need to fix things Melta overperforms, but it overperforms vs hordes, not really vs Zoanthropes Bosses or Majoris. Enemies are just too bullet spongey even with the best Melta, and its not good with long range at all. That downside is probably why it didnt get nerfed yet Grenade launcher is only so fucking op because of the perk Tactical has to replenish the ammo when it doesnt normally restore from the ammo crate. If it was just slightly reduced how many grenades you can get, then it'd be pretty alright But knowing Saber, they'll give it a 70% damage nerf and give very minimal buffs to guns that do need it.. then again we're not getting buffs this time.

melta and grenade launcher isn't op. the other guns just sucks. i do play other weapons with my tactical but i play ruthless with them because they're fun but at lethal they just dont do enough damage at all. like one entire clip to get 1 majoris enemy is just unviable imo
They always nerf instead of buff. This game should be FUN, and when only two weapons are really viable, it's not fun. In another game I really enjoy, you can be fine using knife/axe/sword/pistol/shotgun/bow, you name it, you can make any weapon work for your style. This is coop mostly, the stronger you are, the more you benefit the team. Saber should focus on teamwork aspects, make it fun to be with your brothers and have each of you contribute meaningfully to the mission success.

Getting into Darktide, and almost every single melee weapon is more viable than anything in Space Marine 2. The Dueling Sword is always said to be the very best, but literally everything is performing fine it's just that one gets a slightly faster thrust attack. Do you know how crazy it feels to go from one Warhammer game where the melee feels like a pool noodle despite being a "ultimate killing machine" and then going to Darktide where I'm just a random soldier and I can have more fun with a god damn shovel than A FUCKING THUNDER HAMMER WITH A JETPACK SPACE MARINE. On paper, space marine 2 should be fucking wildly fun, but it's not, and in three months Saber has failed at every point to improve the fun

only meelee needs buff is assault. and that doesnt make grenade op . it needs nerf.

@@xMtF54x Absolutely agree on that. Gun strikes do so much damage in comparison to melee weapons. There is never a reason to ever go for melee damage
