Railay also known as Rai Leh, is a small peninsula between the city of Krabi and Ao Nang in Thailand. It is accessible only by boat due to high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access. These cliffs attract rock climbers from all over the world, but the area is also popular due to its beautiful beaches and quiet relaxing atmosphere. Accommodation ranges from bungalows and medium-priced resorts in East Railay to a collection of luxury resorts focused on West Railay, though one, Royavadee, spans both waterfronts and also has a beachfront restaurant at Ao Phra Nang. The four main areas of Railay consist of Phra Nang, West Railay, East Railay, and Ton Sai. Ton Sai caters to climbers and the backpacker set and is more rustic in character than the glitz of West Railay and the shops and restaurants of the East Railay boardwalk.

I was there in in 2009 end of february .This place is absolutely Paradise without any question.Water was so clean that we saw ground .You finally recorded it . This place should be also recorded by drone .For real this is paradise .I was also near this place where it was destroyed by Tsunami .No other place is more beautifull .I dont think Maledives can compete .2 words : Amazing Thailand. This is more or less what I did on both occasions when I stayed at Ao Nang in Feb 2018 and Feb 2020 and deciding to spend a day in Railey (especially West Railey and Phra Nang). In the addition to that on the Feb 2020, I did the 7-island sunset tour from Ao Nang and had sunset dinner at Phra Nang beach (amazing sunset and everything) then headed back to the pier to watch the fire show

It was nice , but wouldn't go as far as say most beautiful ,
I went there in the 80's. Sad for me to see how built up it's got. Were just a couple of dozen bamboo huts, a shack for a restaurant & another restaurant in a cave back then. Things do change though.
Krabi is beautiful. But those boats should not be allowed to park on the beach as it spoil the beauty and also make it difficult to swim in the waters. They boats also pollute the water like in Maya bay. They should make a pier at the East side and make all boats stop there instead. Such a pity.
If don't stop that place how can passenger to reach that area

Like half the boats from Ao Nam Mao pier are landing on the other side of Railay where the beach has mangroves and is not suitable for swimming. Can make all the boats do the same, just a bit longer detour for those boats arriving from Ao Nang which are parking on this beautiful beach side of Railay.

When I visited before covid long-tail boats kept riding in and out, emitting deafening noise and fumes. A pity.

bad visit for me, in 2018, heavy handed resort staff, confining day visitors to tidal zone only...really bad if you arrive or leave at high tide, and so low lying beach, water washes into restaurant areas, at high tide.
Look at all those scammers and their victims.
