It's unlikely a woman can "beat up" a grown man unless there's a size difference which there rarely is or the male stands and just takes it without fighting back or somehow manages to catch them off guard. If you’re not willing to give a child a good life, or unable to, 1. Put the child up for adoption or have them live with someone who can, or 2. Just don’t have a child in the first place.

I grew up being severely abused! It's a miracle I'm still alive. I was beat sò hard, and so muchthdy said I was autistic. I wasn't, my brain was just mush mush. My younger brother was never touched. I don't understand why some children are loved, and cared for and other ones tortured and not bonded with. It's obvious the parent is capable of showing love, but not to them. I'm almost 50 years old, and still have nightmares and night terrors. I can't trust anything or anyone. As a survivor of this type of bs, it doesn't go away. It stays with you, it ruins you, because you can't let anyone get close to you. It literally destroys you. Rip little princess. You don't have to suffer anymore!

Be still.,I had severe anxiety at 8 y o and could not sleep. My mother has NPD. She hated me but dotes on my older brother even lives several houses down from him since 2005. I do look like my dads mother and my mother hated her. There weren’t any adults to help in the 70’s. I absolutely understand how you feel. Always wondering how different my life would have been if one adult had stood up for me.,it’s so hard to watch these women killing their kids.

As the one child out of 4 that was treated differently and disliked, I feel for this little girl. I thank the good Lord every day I got taken away and adopted by an amazing woman! If mom was still alive we would be celebrating our 40 year adoption anniversary.
I understand very well what it's like to be the one singled out. My sis was mother's little princess, and I was the embarrassment who dared to have the wrong daddy. I wish I had been taken away by someone who would have treated me better. I'm so thrilled to hear someone got out of that situation and had a wonderful new mom! So sorry for your loss.
I’m from San Antonio and it’s crazy because my husband and I watch the news every evening and have never heard of this case. So sad how these things get swept under the rug. I’m just glad the mom got at least 45 years. I feel like it should be more for this heinous crime but so many times we hear of them getting off with just a few years and it’s absolutely disgusting. I’ll never be able to understand how these parents can do these things to their own children.

It’s infuriating that Mercedes’ mother was able to take a plea deal.If she felt like she couldn’t bond with the little girl why not give her to family members or give her up for adoption. I will never understand how a mother or father could abuse their own child or let someone else do it then take the child to the hospital when they are beyond help. It’s cases like these that make me wish for a punishment fitting of what they did to this little girl. Imagine what her older sister had to witness,it’s heartbreaking. unlike a lot of these unfortunate cases, the fact that multi people, family & neighbors, called, reported what was going on, & even tried to get custody of her, but still authorities didnt do anything, is even more heartbreaking. when will the system stop failing these poor angels? 😞

It's cases like this where I wish the murderers were punished the same way they murdered! It's despicable what they did to this poor defenseless child.
Sad to say, this happened to my city and I'm not surprised. I actually reported a case of CA to CPS and had video evidence to support the claim. This video evidence included The sister to the victim confirming what had happened. I got one letter from a detective. They claim that they tried to reach out to me several times and that this letter was the last ditch attempt. I sent several emails, made several phone calls, even showed up to the police station trying to get in touch with that detective that allegedly couldn't get in touch with me and never got a response. I was always told he was busy / not available and to reach out later, or he just would never return any of my emails or phone calls. I kept that evidence for 2 years. I emailed and called a few more times over several months and never heard back. The case was closed for "lack of evidence". I filed a complaint. Nothing was done. I never heard back from anyone. I can only imagine how many other people they've done this to.

The problem is if they tried to be a hero and took her from the home, they would be arrested for kidnapping and could potentially be blamed for the abuse by the parents if they had the thought to lie(which they likely would’ve done if they thought of that way out), and she would possibly go right back into their hands. It’s an unfortunate reality that in many situations of child abuse, its lose-lose for those who try to help but aren’t listened to, it was so frustrating that the rest of the family called and the neighbors called and nothing was done.
Wow, I lived less than 5 mins from that apartment complex. To know that that was going on in the area behind closed doors to a child is very unsettling. But yes, Bexar County NEEDS to do better. I called CPS on my step kids biological mother because I started to notice bruises on the cheek of a 6 month old. I took and sent photos, I sent numerous photos of the soiled diapers, clothes and rash she would come with. Just as always, for it to be closed with no outcome. We as adults are the voice of these innocent children and CPS has failed many many children. I’m sick of this
As I've said before, ANY adults condoning this treatment of their child should never be allowed to BE AROUND children, and/or CREATE, ie. bring more children in the world. ABSOLUTELY both of them should have been charged with homicide. As a mom, I can recall HATING to have to give my son a 'swat' on the butt when he misbehaved.... Which, BTW, was a very rare occasion. CPS and all authorities that were notified of the abuse should be held just as responsible as the parents because they are the first line of defense against abusive parents/guardians. My highschool physical therapist was a higher up in cps. He had to quit when he was in his 30’s (he was in his late 50’s), because he could no longer handle the emotional toll of being forced to put babies back where they would get harmed. This man was a happy, joyful, smart arsey man who could make the tulips burst in January. He saved my life because he was the only doctor who believed me when everyone else ignored me. I can’t imagine how the good feel working with the scum of the earth. ANYTHING needs to change. ANYTHING.

I worked for the Department of Family Protective Services of Texas in 2017-2018 in their tech department. I’ve personal seen and read over some findings and throughout the state child abuse is rampant and vile. Majority of the cases were Hispanic children victims and children under the age of 2. It’s bad. And getting worse. Rest in heave sweet Angel

I’m from San Antonio and it’s crazy because my husband and I watch the news every evening and have never heard of this case. So sad how these things get swept under the rug. I’m just glad the mom got at least 45 years. I feel like it should be more for this heinous crime but so many times we hear of them getting off with just a few years and it’s absolutely disgusting. I’ll never be able to understand how these parents can do these things to their own children.

It’s infuriating that Mercedes’ mother was able to take a plea deal.If she felt like she couldn’t bond with the little girl why not give her to family members or give her up for adoption. I will never understand how a mother or father could abuse their own child or let someone else do it then take the child to the hospital when they are beyond help. It’s cases like these that make me wish for a punishment fitting of what they did to this little girl. Imagine what her older sister had to witness,it’s heartbreaking. Thankfully it looks like prison life hasn’t been so kind to this disgusting woman. I hope her boyfriend gets his fair share of feces shoved down his throat too.

It's cases like this where I wish the murderers were punished the same way they murdered! It's despicable what they did to this poor defenseless child.
Sad to say, this happened to my city and I'm not surprised. I actually reported a case of CA to CPS and had video evidence to support the claim. This video evidence included The sister to the victim confirming what had happened.
I got one letter from a detective. They claim that they tried to reach out to me several times and that this letter was the last ditch attempt. I sent several emails, made several phone calls, even showed up to the police station trying to get in touch with that detective that allegedly couldn't get in touch with me and never got a response. I was always told he was busy / not available and to reach out later, or he just would never return any of my emails or phone calls. I kept that evidence for 2 years. I emailed and called a few more times over several months and never heard back.
The case was closed for "lack of evidence". I filed a complaint. Nothing was done. I never heard back from anyone.
I can only imagine how many other people they've done this to.
He got life in prison this week, mom pleaded a with deal.

The problem is if they tried to be a hero and took her from the home, they would be arrested for kidnapping and could potentially be blamed for the abuse by the parents if they had the thought to lie(which they likely would’ve done if they thought of that way out), and she would possibly go right back into their hands. It’s an unfortunate reality that in many situations of child abuse, its lose-lose for those who try to help but aren’t listened to, it was so frustrating that the rest of the family called and the neighbors called and nothing was done.

I called CPS on my step kids biological mother because I started to notice bruises on the cheek of a 6 month old.
I took and sent photos, I sent numerous photos of the soiled diapers, clothes and rash she would come with.

My highschool physical therapist was a higher up in cps. He had to quit when he was in his 30’s (he was in his late 50’s), because he could no longer handle the emotional toll of being forced to put babies back where they would get harmed. This man was a happy, joyful, smart arsey man who could make the tulips burst in January. He saved my life because he was the only doctor who believed me when everyone else ignored me. I can’t imagine how the good feel working with the scum of the earth. ANYTHING needs to change. ANYTHING.

I worked for the Department of Family Protective Services of Texas in 2017-2018 in their tech department. I’ve personal seen and read over some findings and throughout the state child abuse is rampant and vile. Majority of the cases were Hispanic children victims and children under the age of 2.
