    Fantastic idea, going to make some ASAP! Btw you can buy ground coloured mica powder that’s used in makeup on Aliexpress very cheaply in larger amounts than in eyeshadow pots, in amazing colours. I’ve used it to make shimmer paint very successfully.
    You can also buy the small metal balls that are put in nail polish to mix it that if you add to your spray makes it much easier to mix and distribute the mica powder. I add them to all my home made sprays. 3-4mm glass beads work well too.
    I love making my own supplies, so much cheaper too!

    This was perfect for me. I bought a bunch of colors of shimmer mist, they were closing out and I have all colors. You can also stamp with versamark and brush this on top with any eye shadow brush.
    I had never heard to mix alcohol though, just water. However this makes loads if sense. I need to fill an aqua painter with several colors and use it like wink of Stella on flowers and such on cards. Thanks so much Ann. 😍

    I have some Luster Dust, a product used for cake decorating...going to turn it into this, because I do cold porcelain flowers, not cake...and I can use this for the flowers to give that 'live shimmer' for them when not making cards. I wish I had known about this idea 3 years ago when I started using the Luster Dust, I wouldn't have wasted so much - a lot is lost when using a brush and the dry powder...Blessings and Thanks!

    Hi Ann, I've been doing this for 18 months now, so much cheaper than buying ready made, I've never used hairspray tho! I use a mix of alcohol and water about 3/4 alcohol to 1/4 water, and glycerin and gum arabic that artists use, I've also refilled Wink of Stella and other brands of pens adding a tiny bit of microfine holographic glitter. Only problem with water is it can buckle your paper!! Smell is the worse bit lol

      Perfect pearls has something called Gum Arabic added to it, which is the ingredient used in watercolor to make the pigment stick to the paper. It can be bought from most Art shops and suppliers. Acrylic medium, gel, Tim Holtz distress mat medium or good old PVA glue are alternatives that all work well.

    • @sherylcarmanstickyliability
      @sherylcarmanstickyliability 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alcohol is much cheaper than surgical spirits, especially if you buy from eBay. Best to buy 99% if you can. I use it to make my own alcohol inks. Made my own shimmer sprays using mica powder, but it clogs the spray mechanism. When you shake to mix, make sure you do circular movements with the bottle, not up and down...this helps.
