Safe is relative, I travelled to Rio de Janiero in the early 90's. I'd say the personal risks are comparable, the reasons are completely different.

I want everyone to know, as someone who lived on Kreschatyk Street right next to Maidan, Anna is just scratching the surface as to how wonderful it is. One mistake she did make in editing was showing snapshots of St. Michael’s Monastery , confusing it with St. Sofia. One can tell by the deeper blue color. The Kyiv cakes are ok, but the rest of the food is magnificent! Visit Podil! Favorite part of Kyiv. Favorite street is Andrew’s Descent. Lots to explore.

Malheureusement je ne pourrai jamais venir en Ukraine j'ai pas le droit de sortir de mon pays. Mais c'était une erreur de jeunesse. Malheureusement j'en paix le prix aujourd'hui. Inquièter vous pas sa fait très longtemps que les policiers savent que je ne suis plus la dedans. Je vais essayer une demande de pardon mais sa coûte 3000 dollars et deux ans de rendez-vous au palais de justice et j'ai pas le goût de retourner faire un tour là bas. Khreschatyk - It took me forever to learn the name. To remember it. I finally looked it up. I thought it might be a cross. That seems to be true. And then I made a shortcut because I will never be able to spell it.
I also liked the music. I am glad they are removing the hammer and sickle I don't know If I spelled that right. Usually I know how to spell that. But that's what Google thinks. Personally I'm not sure.

This is an excellent video, Anna! You put a lot of work into this one, and the music selections were good. I did not know any of the history of Kyiv. It's certainly a beautiful city. Great video Anna! Looking forward to visiting one day, hopefully not too long in the future. It's an interesting experience to walk around a city and just experience the daily life. You are a great guide. It's tragic that now the city has memorials to the people who lost their lives for a free Ukraine, but the country and the friends of Ukraine around the world will never forget its heroes. The flag of Ukraine continues to fly proudly over Kiev.

This past week I was made aware of an article from a 1983 National Geographic magazine, the headline was “Kiev The First Russian State”. This wrong telling of the history has been going on in the west for decades maybe centuries. I could have easily have read this article then.
It’s so important that as many people as possible know the truth. Ukraine may have been a victim of history being written by the victors in the past, but it’s changing now. Anna you are a big part of this.

Thanks for showing Kyiv as it is today. It still looks great. I have been there a half dozen times and I always stay in Maidan overlooking the fountains which puts on a beautiful show at night. As an American I have always felt safe and welcome there. Even in the subways which are wide, well lit and full of shops. On weekends they would close off Khreshchatyk street and it would become a pedestrian Plaza of sorts. I miss Kyiv.

Sure everybody has its own taste. For me Kreshatyk Street look too much sovjet stylish. i prefer Podil wich is dominated by many smal Pubs and restaurants and street mucusians.

Really enjoyed this Anna, as my mama was born in Kyiv and attended the Taras Shevchenko National University. I grew up listening to her talking about Khreshchatyk and how she and her friends used to go swimming in the Dnieper. I was lucky enough to visit Kyiv in the early 90s and would love to visit again once you've pushed out the orcs.
