String Up a Clothesline and Keep It Tight

  • Hey everyone. I had to string up new lines on my clothesline, so I thought I would show you guys how I am doing it. It is pretty easy, but if you are new to clotheslines, I hope this helps you out. I use a knot at one end to attach the lines, and the handy dandy clothesline tensioner at the other. In my experience, all lines, yes even the metal ones, stretch after use. My line is very long, so already more prone to sag. Now I can tighten after each use to get a tighter line all the time. Keep in mind, rope line works best with these tensioners, I wouldn't use them if you are planning to use plastic coated metal lines.

We had to relocate our clothesline. If you’re interested in seeing the changes I made here is the updated video.

My Mom bought these stainless steel clothespins (made in Italy) called "Henry Berry & Dairy Extreme Clothespins" and she loves them. She has arthritis and kept opening the wood and plastic clothespins on a skew and ends-up breaking them, but these stainless steel ones really last. Expensive, but worth it.

Too much talking and not enough doing

So here I am thinking I will see how to use two knots to do the clothesline. So why not use two tensioners? The search continues.

Good video and thanks for showing how to do the knot. Instead of cutting your rope maybe just run it over and through your next eye hook then down to another tightened and then over to the next one.
