Boy O Boy you knocked this one outta of the park Doc!!!! I've been taking my fairing off for years the the tip of loosing the running lights before removing the fairing for more room and holding the bottom rubber seal before re-installing will really help this old shade tree out for sure!!! BTW I use old thick socks to cover my running lights since I don't have any Crown Royal ..... ;-)

Some riders and tech freaks just want to check and clean Doc.
Always a pleasure to see you work and hear your advice.
I don’t own a batwing but now I sure know how to disassemble them.
Gives me something to do on club nights…..😎😜

Great video! I’ve taken my fairing off more times than I can count. Never thought of the rag or losing the side T 40 bolts. Learn something new every day.

I have had one of the screws fall out after some warranty work. Also had some of the inserts pulled out. I used a locktite product #410 super glue to put them back in. Still holding many years later.
I also started using silicone adhesive (a small amount) to act as a light duty locktite. I don't like tightening the top 3 screws much more than snug as the full height windshield is subjected to very strong wind buffering.
Thank you for your awesome videos

Hay Doc. I switched out the 2 lower screws for longer set screws (Locktite them in) and 2 nuts it makes it easier to reinstall the outer fairing by putting them in place first then install the top canter screw then the 2 nuts. I have found this works very well for me.

Great video Doc, if I had a fairing to take off, this would be the go-to place for helpful hints. The little extras like pushing on the seal around the headlight isn't something I would know unless I had been there done that before. Maybe someday I will have a bike with a fairing and will be looking for this video at Low Country Harley. Thanks again Doc for excellent content!

Funny story. A few years back I changed the speakers on my 2012 Ultra. As you've demonstrated I covered the fender and tank and was extra cautious removing the fairing. I replaced the speakers with no problem and reinstalled the fairing screwing in all 7 screws except the last screw which was one of the hidden ones on the bottom inside fell out! well now I have a dilema because everything I tried like compressed air, magnets flashlight and mirror, I was unable to locate this screw. Then I decided to roll the bike out of the garage because I was working in such close quarters and the light was better. I had the bike half way out and I figured this was good enough and I set it on the side stand and resumed my search. Well I turned the handlebars all the way to the right and started looking in all the crevices when I felt the bike going over. I grabbed it but it was too late to stop it so all I could do is lay it down gently. First thing I did was to look around to see if any of the neighbors were watching but there were none so no embarrassing moments. I went around to the other side and lifted the bike up and set it straight. Well guess what! To my surprise the missing screw was lying there on the ground!! So if you ever lose a screw and can't find it, just drop the bike!! LOL

Great video. Little surprise with that HID. lol. I traded my 07 ultra (had fairing off many times) for a 19 limited last year. Installed lower fairing radiator circling "D" lights in the limited. My experience made me think of a possible next fairing video. You may want to put out a video about removing the lower 2 screws on the twin cool lowers. I learned the hard way. Ended up using a Weller 140W solder gun on the head for a couple minutes to loosen the thread lock. Again, thanks for the great videos!

Doc, always good and informative videos! I notice something: you are using a mic for some time, but I always find your voice a little low and with some echo. On this video I noticed that when you pointed out the hidden screws, your voice were much better - your voice is being captured by the camera, not by the mic!!! Double check the way the mic is connected, because it is not working... cheers from Brazil!

hey, Doc I have a question all the way up here in Fort Erie Ontario Canada. How would I fix the copper grommet that is in the batwing fairing as it doesn't stay in and, I have to push or squeeze the front fairing back in place holding my windshield? the other screws are fine but just that one is there an easy fix? I found this and have an FLHTC 2013/ found Canadian Amazon -Motoparty Batwing Fairing Windshield Threaded Brass Insert Restoration Kit Replacement for Harley Touring Electra Street Glide Batwing 1986-2018, for FLHT, Brass Inserts/ thoughts?

Re: oversize inserts for Harley Fairing.... Ironically the oversize inserts are the same as common brass "furniture" inserts. Just match to the correct size 1/4 20. perhaps with a dab of jb weld.
