Hope to learn more about gouache/watercolor in 2024. I have mostly just used acrylics. Your channel has inspired me to dabble with my supplies I have and try to expand my horizons. I have hope that I can do better. Thanks for what you do. It is really appreciated by us total newbies in the art world!
Maybe people don't realize that kids art products can be far more interesting than what we are used to on a regular basis, looking at those Stabilo pencils it's inspiring to try new ideas even though the colors aren't brilliant. Thank you for upload, pretty hair lady 😊😊
21:15 I was never an orange lover either, but when I saw someone use Daniel Smith Aussie Red Gold and then bought a tube, I was blown away. It’s so vivid, it looks like it has to have some neon in it, but it doesn’t, nor does it have any gold metallic in it and to my eyes, it’s more orange than red. It’s just stunning. ❤
I’ve been really enjoying my schmincke watercolours, hot press etchr everyday sketchbook(white cover ones), plastic nib pigma microns, polychromos and Princeton aqua elite travel brushes! I don’t use the polychromos as much as I would like because the box is bulky and I generally make most of my art away from a desk. So it’s mostly the sketchbook, paints, microns and brushes that I use! For the schmincke palette, I bought an empty Mungyo 12 colour tin and chose my own half pans because I can’t stand the unrolled edges on schmincke palettes and I know what colours and properties I like in my paints! But damn, I bought those paints 3 years ago, paint a lot and none of the pans are even close to half finished. Talk about pigment load!😍 such a worthwhile investment given how long they have lasted! And there’s not one colour on that palette that I regret buying, something I would probably feel if I had bought a premade palette.Been working solely in an a6 sketchbook lately because my friend said she would love to have one of my sketchbooks as a birthday present. I can’t give her one of my old ones because I’m attached so I needed to start a new one, knowing I wouldn’t keep it so that I don’t get attached 😂 doing an a6 cause I figured it would be quicker to fill. Her birthday is early feb so time is limited!
You know you are the reason I fell in love with Quinacridone Gold and bought 2 full pans of Roman Szmals Quin Gold and I might be ordering a third one 🙈 I avoid colors that has cobalts, irons/nickel etc. in them but after watching your video where you compared daniel smith, Holbein, and Roman Szmal’s quin gold I just had to get it! I am eagerly waiting for your sketchbook tours of Khadi fat book and Etchr sketchbooks. I always draw towards your watercolor hauls and when you show your gorgeous paintings 😻😻😻 at the moment I am really enjoying using my Baohong 100% cotton sketchbook. Its amazing. I am pushing myself to use my professional watercolors and I need a Jackson’s watercolor sale to happen soon so I can get a few more colors. The way I paused the video to add nordman green to my Jackson’s cart..that swatch was STUNNING I’ve been enjoying my a gallo signature 1 watercolors and my himi gouache lately! With the signature 1 palette, it’s such an inspiring assortment of colors but at the same time it covers your split primary, neutral, and convenience color needs. With himi gouache they released the twin cups and since it’s so affordable it’s freeing to paint with it without having to worry about how precious it is.
14:55 PB36 comes in many, many shades, including a turquoise shade, hence the green undertones. Schmincke sells it as a single pigment paint, but I can’t remember its name at the moment.
Happy Merry! Great info…thanks! I have the Qor High Chroma set….one of my faves! It’s now $31 in the US, but used to be like $24 for the longest time. Beautiful, quality and vivid colors…..especially the Cobalt Teal ❤️❤️❤️ A note about the Woody’s…On The Frugal Crafter, Lindsay Weirich’s channel (U.S.) she chopped open a Woody to see how much color center there actually is. (This video was from about 2 or 3 years ago.) Since the tops are covered up, you can’t tell how much color you’re actually getting. Surprise…they’re only about two thirds full. OK, they’ve got a thicker core than say a typical color pencil, but really, it’s kind of misleading. I think their charm is their chunkiness…if feels nice to hold…but are the colors any better than Neo Color2? I’ve been tempted to buy these myself but then the price puts me off. I think Neo Color 2’s are really your best deal in water soluble crayons.
I really like your new abstract artworks, I think they’re very cool, I would love to watch a process video of you making abstract art, it’s also something I have recently started getting into. Happy holidays!
The Nordman Green would look very pretty for water, the texture it gives kind of seems like the reflections and lighting of water already so it would be minimal work! Also love the videos, just getting back into watercolor and your videos are very helpful!
My favorites from the video - the khadi fat book and papers. Definitely want to try them. Would also like to give tha Royal Talons a try after your recommendation. It is nice to have some sketchbooks that you don’t have to feel too careful and serious about. I know exactly what you’re saying about the sketchbook with two different types of paper. The Strathmore (soft cover, 400? Series, cellulose) sketchbook I have is like that - alternating 2 page spreads are different. I find it very annoying. The good news is that I am now on the last page. Yay!!I loved the Schminke paints when you swatched them in your livestream (the first Sketches n. Scrubs video I ever watched 😊), that I added them in on my Christmas gift order. Love, love, love them! I also love the QoR colors. While I don’t have the specific set you have, I had purchased several of their colors including the Quin Gold along with several other of the Quin’s in the past few months. Yes, I love their smoothness and how they flow as well as their vibrancy. Right now I’m enjoying the Daniel Smith ‘Tis the Season set (Transparent yellow Oxide, Imperial Purple, Christmas Tree Green) because I’m still working on Christmas cards! They’ll arrive late but that’s ok and the D.S. Set has been fun to add to my palette. The Christmas Tree Green actually smells like pine! Ive never had a fragranced paint before and thought I was imagining things when I was painting with it, but other household members confirmed it!. I really like this kind of videos. I think my favorite art supply at this moment is the Etchr a5 filled it almost up in three months. And also my Roman Szmal an Schmincke aquarel paints.
I am going to give the Etchr gold paints a try because I have also been disappointed in the metallic handmade paint. They do work better on black and if you use less water and layer them. I am hoping to get woodies for Xmas! Happy Holidays!
I am trying to get into watercolor but don’t want to spend a fortune on paint’s in case I don’t end up liking it. I bought some Holbein and CSY, to start. I do have some himi Gelly gouache and a Japanese Gansai Tambi paint that even though it’s in pans, I am told it is more of a gouache also. I love listening to your voice/accent, it is beautiful. I couldn’t think of the Gansai Tambi name until you showed your set.

I really liked the second Isaro watercolor tube you got, such a beautiful color that jumped right out at me when you first held up your sketchbook :) Lately I've been enjoying painting/just playing on a really large sketchbook! I feel like I can try a lot of different things all on the same page, which means I can mess up multiple times after experimenting and not feel like the whole page is ugly/ruined once I finally do get something I like on that page. For this same reason, it also really helps to see previous attempts on the same page while I'm trying again so I can compare and make improvements as I paint!
Nordman green would probably be a fun pop of trees among a Christmas forest. You’re an artist. You get to be creative. It doesn’t have to be realistic. I have rainbow pastel forests and gold and silver trees popped in my forests 😄
Per usual, love the video! 🥰My favorite art supply has been artist grade professional gouache. Daniel Smith and M. Graham gouache are my current favs. This year I've focused a lot of my attention learning how to paint gouache landscapes. Merry Christmas to you and yours ❤

Love the art creations sketchbooks, I enjoy the cream coloured paper. Definitely going to cjeck out the khadi books, I think I'd enjoy the softcover too. And the woodies are so cute. My daughter uses them mostly because I have neocolors aswell. I think I need to get my dip pen out again, I forgot I have one 😂
Hubs is getting me some Daniel Smith sticks as a gift and I can't decide on the most useful colors. Comparing by cost of the tubes is interesting. I will have to explore that angle as well.

You got some fantastic new supplies! I have Iulie paints and what I've discovered is that you have to wet them and let them get soupy. They are stunning on black watercolor paper, and very pretty over other paints! Have fun creating! 😊
Again, thankfully I watched this video after my very last art haul of this year-hopefully truly my last I'm broke 😂. I loove the shimmery dot card, I pretty much collected all of them because they put so much paint. I prefer to add them as a final touches for small details for my paintings so I guess that's why they worked perfectly for what I do 😅

Waiiittt… I love DS undersea green too… Now I feel like I need another tube >< Wait they bumped up the price of the woodys??? I didn’t know that! They were so expensive the moment I knew about them, and I considered them for really long before I finally got them. They are nice and pigmented though and so fun. The QOR and Holbein starter sets would probs have to be my faves. I also just got the QOR set for my birthday, and am keen to try it. My recent fave item right now is a Schmincke limited edition retro 8 half pan travel set, I got it partly cos I was curious what I could make from the limited palette (although ended up wedging an extra four colours into the middle row) but also love the tin, it’s so tiny! I guess I did see the meeden wooden drawers when you talked about the Stabilo woodys. I wonder, how many normal colored pencils will fit in a drawer. Like Derwent ligtfast or Caran D’Ache luminance’s.
The art creation sketchbooks come in such wonderful colours! This far I have purple, blue and coral, and my next ones will be pink and champagne. Lots of cool stuff there! Ummmm 😂 My fave current art supply, that’s hard. Where would my watercolor art be without decent paper? I’ve been testing out my newest paper from New York Central, it’s 100% cotton and it performs really nicely. Of course I’ll always have Baohong and Legion high on my paper list. I drug out my lil Van Gogh 12+3 set having forgotten about it. It’s nice to have a tiny basic set on my desk in my husband’s office that doesn’t take up much room. Naturally my all time fave paints are my Roman Szmal which is now in two separate tin palettes.
Great haul video! Not sure if someone’s already commented about this- but it’s widely suspected that Jackson’s brand of watercolors is actually Sennelier paint.

I love woodies and I have quite a few. You can sharpen Neo color 2 in a pencil sharpener. For a finer line.. my favorite is Fountain Pens!

Love the art creations sketchbooks, I enjoy the cream coloured paper. Definitely going to cjeck out the khadi books, I think I'd enjoy the softcover too. And the woodies are so cute. My daughter uses them mostly because I have neocolors aswell. I think I need to get my dip pen out again, I forgot I have one 😂

Hubs is getting me some Daniel Smith sticks as a gift and I can't decide on the most useful colors. Comparing by cost of the tubes is interesting. I will have to explore that angle as well.

But with the sticks I think they are a great economical way of buying the higher series paints (that would cost you a lot more in pan or tube form) or the colours that you use most

You got some fantastic new supplies! I have Iulie paints and what I've discovered is that you have to wet them and let them get soupy. They are stunning on black watercolor paper, and very pretty over other paints! Have fun creating! 😊

I loove the shimmery dot card, I pretty much collected all of them because they put so much paint. I prefer to add them as a final touches for small details for my paintings so I guess that's why they worked perfectly for what I do 😅

Wait they bumped up the price of the woodys??? I didn’t know that! They were so expensive the moment I knew about them, and I considered them for really long before I finally got them. They are nice and pigmented though and so fun. Woah didn’t know that the lead stops there I sure feel cheated now 😅

The QOR and Holbein starter sets would probs have to be my faves. I also just got the QOR set for my birthday, and am keen to try it. My recent fave item right now is a Schmincke limited edition retro 8 half pan travel set, I got it partly cos I was curious what I could make from the limited palette (although ended up wedging an extra four colours into the middle row) but also love the tin, it’s so tiny! Thanks for the video! :)

Really enjoying the Kuretake watercolours. I liked the look of the Khadi paper book you showed. Will put it that in my wishlist, I really liked Isaro Nordmun Green, you can definitely use it when painting mountanious rivers or where waterfalls create a pool. It would look amazing. I thought the qor palette didn’t make sense either. But I tell ya what.. take a couple of just mixing them and omg, they’re actually PERFECT. They make BEAUTIFUL mixes
I guess I did see the meeden wooden drawers when you talked about the Stabilo woodys. I wonder, how many normal colored pencils will fit in a drawer. Like Derwent ligtfast or Caran D’Ache luminance’s.

The art creation sketchbooks come in such wonderful colours! This far I have purple, blue and coral, and my next ones will be pink and champagne. The Holbein watercolours were beautiful, I'm definitely adding those to my wishlist!

Lots of cool stuff there! Ummmm 😂 My fave current art supply, that’s hard. Where would my watercolor art be without decent paper? I’ve been testing out my newest paper from New York Central, it’s 100% cotton and it performs really nicely. Of course I’ll always have Baohong and Legion high on my paper list. I drug out my lil Van Gogh 12+3 set having forgotten about it. It’s nice to have a tiny basic set on my desk in my husband’s office that doesn’t take up much room. Naturally my all time fave paints are my Roman Szmal which is now in two separate tin palettes.

Fun! love the Kuretake set you got, nice selection of colors. I am really enjoying the beauty of the Della Magna watercolors and new Wallace Seymour watercolors I received from ArtReqLtd.
