Timeless. His voice is so pure and clean. I'm not hearing any effects. Reminiscent of Marvin Gay's ability to draw on and translate emotion into a form that everyone can relate to. God, I love Seal.
She’s insatiable and it’s killing him to lose her. It’s always something or someone new. The way he sings this. Could you just die!! Incredible piano! Impeccable vocals! I believe he wrote this. Can you imagine what it takes to dig this deep into your soul and pull out something that can explain what he’s feeling and then you feel that too!! That’s what great music does. God I hope there’s music like this in Heaven. There’s got to be.
Ah, the full version from the vocal warm-up in the beginning. Never have I seen a man pour his soul into a song with as much beauty as in this performance. Easily my favorite song of all time. 1991.....my God.
Listening to this on 4 hits of acid doing 85mph on a Texas highway on the way to see Ninja Turtles is still one of the best experiences of my life. Thank you Seal
what you hav witnessed in this video is something that can never be taught nor can it be practised.......the magic of a unique raw talent seal has been blessed with. he is my favourite artist of all time by a mile and this is my favourite song
I mean his whole first album is like this, frigging gold. But I have always loved this song and he sings the hell out of it here. What a voice. Makes it look effortless too.
How beautiful can a song be. "Take my tears and wash the sunrise". Ive listen to SEAL from the start, and im still listening now....34yrs later. He is just amazing.
Violet is my favorite seal song, but I have never seen the acoustic version! Hands down one of the best live, raw performances I have ever seen. Thank you for posting the video!!
Great CD, many hits, BUT..."Violet" is my most re-played. On my HOF list of re-playables. Always at night. Perfect Friday Night chill-down at the end of the work week. Thank you to ALL who created and contributed to this work of art. Never gets old...
Loved this from the very first listen. Last song on the first album and sealed (okay pun intended) his stature as a seriously good artist with me. I listened to it obsessively too. God that album was good.
I have the same VHS and signed copies of the first two albums. Even then, people asked “Who’s Seal?” I honestly miss those days before other people like David Foster and his record label came along and told him how to write a Seal album.
How do you even write a song so perfect that it hurts to imagine that there was a possibility it would have never existed - and then to be so fortunate to know it exists and to be able to listen to it everyday with the same love that you have when something so beautiful and perfect hits your soul with love every morning. Omg what a beautiful life.
Saw this show in the early 90s. It's easily one of my favorite shows of all time and I have seen hundreds of artists. I specifically remember leaving, thinking, holy @%$ can that man sing. The only other time that happened was with Whitney Houston at Disney singing acappella before she became a mega star. Seal leaks talent.
I wonder if this is Guy Sigsworth, listed as the writer, on piano. I was lucky enough to meet Seal on the following tour, after the debut album, backstage before the show, after I took Sir Paul’s current drummer out for dinner. Seal’s tour drummer was Abe L. who toured with Seal, after finishing the Steve Vai world tour, which is how I met Abe. Amazing musicians, all of them, and I love the whole Seal debut album. It was groundbreaking, and instantly produced many huge hits. ☮️
Thanks for this comment. Have been trying to find out who the pianist was on this song. Guy is listed with Seal on the acoustic version of Violet on the "Rare Collection" release. Love the piano in both the acoustic and first album release.
Pretty sure it's Simon Hale, the other live versions during that era sound very similar and Seal actually mentions him at the end of the song at The Point in '91
My mate had this on VHS back in the day, we must have rendered it useless in the end from how many times we listened to it. This track was a stand out for me. I'd love a remastered version of the whole session
What an amazingly beautiful song! I listen to this version still today. Gives me chills every time! Seal has changed a lot. I liked him better back then. The music was deeper and more meaningful, had deep soulful meaning… he lost it somewhere after Seal V, I think…. His first album where this song is was his very best IMHO.
Change is good scary but good. I have followed this man for many years. The years I lived in London...all the way to Australia. He has a heart and it used to bleed. But not anymore.
Undoubtedly one of the finest acoustic performance artists alive today. Stunning vocalisations chillingly scintillating.
😊
Evolved soul

What? No motorcycle?
HELL YA BUDDY! Go Baby Go!
This is from a time when songs could elicit an emotion from the singer. Still unbeatable and my favorite singer since the 90's.

From the depth of his soul he almost cries this song...Only Seal can hit me so hard right in my heart❤
This was recorded 29 years ago today. Happy birthday.

I first heard this driving through the Arizona desert late one night. It was a spiritual experience.
Powerful song in so many ways. I've gone days listening to it over and over again. My interpretation of its meaning brings me to tears.
What is your interpretation? That's interesting because someone once asked Seal what it meant, and he responded "Whatever you want it to mean". ;)
What's your interpretation Darryl?
I've loved this song for such a long time. I had never heard this version till now. LOVE IT!!!!
How beautiful can a song be. "Take my tears and wash the sunrise". Ive listen to SEAL from the start, and im still listening now....34yrs later. He is just amazing.
Beautiful - lyrically, chord progressions, arrangement. The color of violet, indeed.

Never gets old...
Tears for Fears and Seal should do and album together. I think it would be awesome
Totally agreed!!!
Wow, it really would be so awesome!
Wow! That would be EPIC!
Or he could be the new vocalist for Robin Trower…
2023, and still my favorite Seal song...Incredible performance...
Probably my preferred album of Seal
I like the fact that Seal allowed the audience to make their own interpretations of this. A true artist.
Loved this from the very first listen. Last song on the first album and sealed (okay pun intended) his stature as a seriously good artist with me. I listened to it obsessively too. God that album was good.
Crazy, Future Love Paradise, and Violet were awesome
@@panther196321 They still are
I burst into delicious flames every time over that sound of his voice @ 2:21
Amazing moment maybe better than the album version with the the acoustics of the church.
20 Years gone and still Amazing
I have the VHS of this entire performance. I will go to my grave with it clutched in my arms.
Put it on E-Bay and you'll be able to afford a top shelf casket . . . Cheers!
wow!! Lucky you!!!!
I have the same VHS and signed copies of the first two albums. Even then, people asked “Who’s Seal?” I honestly miss those days before other people like David Foster and his record label came along and told him how to write a Seal album.

Immaculate.
One of the most amazing and powerful live acoustic versions of this song....epic
Never gets old. Never. So beautiful.
oh my... this is just Beautiful!
doesnt it just hold you and take you somewhere so soothing....this is what God meant for music to do for us.
Hes one of the greats that's for sure. Been listening to him since 1991!
When the artist plays the singer sings , the listener will listen and joy will redeem itself , then finally your heart will be warmed with pleasure.
And if I told you then that I could cry,
Would you take my tears and wash the sun rise?
One of the greatest love aongs ever written.... 🙏❤
One of the most moving recordings ever imho ❤️🩹❤️🙏👌
Doesn't get old. He's so underrated ❤

I love this song, this version is awesome.
16 July 2021 still listening and still amazing...
Brings back deep memories of past sadness, that could only be drowned out by the melancholy resonance of Seal’s songs
My mate had this on VHS back in the day, we must have rendered it useless in the end from how many times we listened to it. This track was a stand out for me. I'd love a remastered version of the whole session
Effortless for him. Truly a gift.
Remarkable...

1991? This song and his voice....timeless....
Change is good scary but good. I have followed this man for many years. The years I lived in London...all the way to Australia. He has a heart and it used to bleed. But not anymore.
Taz Resch - I think he found love. I’ve loved him from the beginning too, I just think he grew up.
To think some people only say Seal you mean that kiss from a rose guy and never experience this beauty is shocking ❤
Love Violet the best song❤
So much happened in 1991. Everything changed.
This should be playing on loop in a museum somewhere
beautiful.
I used to have this VHS and I lent it out and never got it back .
Man, he's really good.
Great
Fucking hell, why did I get rid of this VHS? Now I want it on dvd the seal album! Brilliant album.
