Bill, if you don't mind me asking, how costly was this move of dirt with the amount needed? You didn't tell me you were running a commercial company too?
@@billburkhart oh, makes sense now...I thought this was your personal project around your property....thanks clarification.... Do you have more of those to show?
How much was each truck load? I need 200 yards and dig site will be 5 miles away and just wondering cost. I want to build a small pond on my property and I do have clay just 17 to 20 feet of sandy soil on top of clay layer.
Another idea would be to deeper in the pond... It would not depend on the dike so much... Also maybe a liner along the dike... I did a pond on a golf course once and had this same issue... I was so disappointed to see all the work you did and have it leak... One more thing... If you get a chance and have either an RK dealer near you or a Branson dealer... Stop in and check out there 25 hp tractors... The price point is amazing and I think you could do so much more... Probably be able to sell the Deere for what they cost new....
Hi John- You have a good point! Frankly, I don't where to begin on installing a liner. I'm going to take one more swing at the repair this summer and then decide what to do if it still leaks. Keep in mind the pond is still 7 or 8 feet deep even with the leak, so maybe the answer is do nothing and just enjoy it as is. Happy Sunday and thanks for saying hello.
hate to see all that good clay get so wet. could u of covered it with a cheap tarp-maybe. so it would be dry when ready to use. good luck with the project-ok.

@@aaronburford5701 The clay cost me $100 per load hauled to my home, 12 miles away. The large excavator is around 800 per hr.
@billburkhart is this just funds you reserve for these things..
Aaron, this was a project I was hired to oversee as a project manager

I had to pay $100 for each load. Definitely in the right spot and the right time.
Wow, your not messing around this time. 👍
Hi John, the excavator asked me to get 50 CY of clay, so being a man, I thought 90 yards would be better?
I was wondering what was happening with your pond. Can't wait to see the work being done.
Thanks Johnathan, fingers crossed
First big rock towards outside bank... Work to smaller rock to inside bank... Then clay... Cement wall around pipe...
Hello Jerry. Thank you I'll keep that in mind.

I never thought about the pond being made deeper, that seems very logical. Thanks for the information Jerry.
hi, not to be mean. but all the time and money in that pond you could have put a liner in it. that's what I did....just sayin.

Big Jim, I'm going to check into your idea, thanks for asking me about covering the clay.
