From what I could find, some of the early Type VIIC boats (like U-96) had the external designs of the Type VIIB. The boats built later removed the net cutter on the bow and improved the conning tower.
Cheers Henno. I used the German version for 2 reasons. It's the best version (I didn't like the english version voices) and it's more realistic as they certainly weren't speaking english on those boats. :) Thanks for watching!

I hate to say this, but... "LOOK OUT Stabiz !!!" It looks like he has competition now. This was the best SH3 video made since "The Good, Bad, & Bernard" and Stabiz other Bernard movies. Keep up the good work Tex, your giving the Silent Hunter Simulation series a GOOD name!!! :)
brilliant film, brilliant music, brilliant starring... in ´89 most of the actors where slightly unkwon, today... almost everyone in germany knows jürgen prochnow, martin semmelrogge, heinz hoenig, uwe ochsenknecht, jan fedder, ralf richter, klaus wennemann (rip, du alter fahnder und bester LI), claude-oliver rudolph and not to forget herbert "herbie" grönemeyer... i love them all... omg, they are so young... ;-) i´ll never forget semmelrogge´s naughty smile, when he said "prooooooobe-alarm!..."

Very good one :) One thing: at about 5:25: in german it is "weil sie (die Fotos) dann Werte haben", so it is like "because the pictures will have a value" Quite different from beards ;) And at 7:00 it is not 10 degrees, it is 40 ;) But apart from that, it is very very good made! Compliments!
Great work, I have only found on little error: At 7:00, the man screams "vierzig Grad" meaning 40°, but the subtitles say 10 degrees. Nonetheless, great great work.

The weak point was the low speed under water. Only the experimental german sub v80 wiith walter enginge could reach a speed of 28 knots (under water)
