I bought it and just tried it out. My tongue weight is more than I thought. We are making changes to what we haul in the RV and in the truck. Well worth the cost.

This industry is finally catching up with times and technology. Ive always wanted to show my relative his tongue weight. Every winter his always changing out his GMC sierra’s rear semi floating axel’s bearings. Hopefully when I show him he will change his mind to get a 3/4 ton with Bigger breaks, more leaf’s and full floating axle.

Great point on the tongue weight differences. Our new Jayco WhiteHawk claimed to have a tongue weight of 950, but turned out to be 1250 as we measured it on pickup at the dealership.
@3:44 That spring liver & its pin that raises it up & down is your weak point. A large bolt with a cotter pin would’ve made it more of a solid build. If I bought this, the first thing I do is take that Jinky looking spring & pin off and drill holes in it to put in my own bolt & cotter pin.
I’ve always wondered why owners don’t try to balance the trailers so there’s not so much tongue weight. I know running to much rear trailer weight will cause swaying, but why not try to lessen the weight on your truck in order to gain a better more level ride.

Will the light duty version have a gauge more geared to light duty trailers? It looks like it has the same 2,000 gauge as the bigger version even though it’s only rated to 1,000. Kinda like measuring tire PSI, if you’re looking for 32 psi it’s a lot harder to get an accurate reading on a gauge that goes to 150 than it is a gauge that only goes to 60. I tow with a Toyota Highlander and the owners manual says to have a tongue weight of 9-11%, so having a scale that I can more accurately tell what the numbers are down to the nearest 10 lbs instead of nearest 100 lbs would be beneficial.
Slight off subject. What is the black streak in the opening start of you videonoff high to the right of the Arch. I need to get one of these. Did not realize how important hitch weight is until had my rig almost go into an uncontrolled sway. Not enough on the hitch causes this sway, too much weight is not good either. Sway control helps but a big semi can throw you into an sway that could flip you .
@BigTruckBigRV no, no, no, look to the right of the structure. Not on it. About half way down tonthe right before you zoom in. Right at the beginning the first 3 seconds. I have been up in it several times. It is cool to uo up there.
On the video the LD looks to be tall... 👀 It looks even taller than the original etrailer one... This might be a problem for small lighter trailers 👀(in my opinion)
4:47 you measured trailers with either a slip style spring, or a eye springs with an equalizer or a single axle. Trailers with torsion suspension actually function differently. The higher the tongue is the more weight because you’re lifting the forward axle. We tested this with a weigh safe and a thundercreek fuel trailer. 900lbs when the trailer was level and almost 1300lbs with the trailer front up. With my f150 the trailer would sit level at 900lbs, on my bosses f350 same hitch but the drop wasn’t enough the trailer was at 1300lbs.
I don't get it just get a way safe hitch then you will no every time you hook up to your trailer you can get one starting at around 300 dollars and it's easier to use
Unless you need weight distribution.... Also, not everyone has their tow vehicle with them when checking the weight. Plus, you can bring this with you to a dealer.

Weigh safe has the scale built into the hitch. Every time you hook up the trailer to the truck you can see the weight. Cost the same too

I has a smaller diameter tube. Even though it's almost exactly the same height as the first gen.

Just a heads up fastaway has a version of this for half the price.
Nothing close to the quality though. Also, it is not adjustable and uses a spring vs hydraulic. Also, it does not have the same gradual markings.
