      Radio signals not detected in Mission Planner
      Hello, I have installed "ArduCopter V4.1.1" on "Flight Controller H743-SLIM"
      I tried all settings given by manufacturer and Ardupilot document but could not able
      to detect radio signal in Mission Planner.
      I have FrSky Q X7 Transmitter with R9M module and Access protocol,
      receiver is R9MX with F.Port connection to UART6 as shown in attached image.
      Setting I made are
      1) set BRD_ALT_CONFIG to “1”
      2) set SERIAL7_PROTOCOL to "23"
      3) set SERIAL7_OPTIONS to "7"
      4) set RSSI_TYPE to "3"

    • @TMacFPV
      @TMacFPV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrNams for that flight controller, UART 6 is Serial 7. I do not know why you have Serial7_OPTIONS set to "7". Also, make sure you're using the latest (Beta) version of Mission Planner (check for Beta Updates). After setting parameters, ensure you power cycle the receiver. You may want to trey toggling on FPORT and and/or FPORT2 for RC_PROTOCOL as opposed to "All."

    Hi ! Great vid - it inspired me to go out and spend hundreds on this setup (always have to buy a new transmitter when i start a new project as things have ALWAYS changed lol plus i couldnt get the esc you specified so had to get something else) ... and .. erm .. im stuck .. i just CANT get the green bars in rx setup in mission planner .. ive got mavlink working with sik radios and even made a make shift safety switch by using the other battery channel monitor as a switch to 3v from the board and then checking for it in pre-flight .. BUT .. not green bars :( ... tx or rx pins are not the wrong way round although, just to check, ive tried swapping them over a bunch of times and still no dice..any suggestions ? :S .. could mavlink be blocking the serial ? .. im fairly sure the receiver is working as if i loose power then i get a telemetry lost from my transmitter .. id really appreciate any help ... im currently wiring the elrs receiver up to a clrs-to-sbus converter board and then into a sbus signal checker to make sure stuff is actually squirting out of the receiver ..but its such a bodge job that even that may not be conclusive :S

      Ardupilot has a variety of flight modes you may want to explore. I began Copter with the Sky Viper V2450 GPS brushed quad available from major retailers. It left a lot to be desired, but gave a great intro to ArduCopter. The remote had two layers of programmable soft switches which allowed you to play with the various features. See Sky Rocket on the AP hardware page. You may want to look into Auto Tune, Hand (Toss-to) Launch, Mission Planning and etc., in future videos. Also, it would be useful to figure out how to manage your camera via UART (i.e. with the Tarsier UART adapter) and some other deep dive subjects. Again, nice work in exploring the field beyond BF and AcroFPV!.Keep digging!

    I was able to load Arducopter on my Flywoo F745 "VE". The only thing that doesn't work is logging. Or rather, it does, but gets used up in a few minutes and then I get errors, so I've disabled it. There are a few theories as to why Arducopter works on the VE. One of which is that it is actually a 1MB chip, but self mis-identifies in the STM32CubeProgrammer. Another theory is that not all VE chips are the same in this post pandemic chip shortage.

    • @TMacFPV
      @TMacFPV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Betaflight for quadcopters (whoop size to 7", and larger) is very well setup for manual mode and much easier to configure with it's GUI Configurator. It's not setup well for GPS assisted flight modes. If you want a quadcopter that does well with GPS assisted modes and reasonably well with manual, Ardupilot or iNav are your choices

    at 36:38 upon successful compass calibration, your compass offset values are way high as -1199 & -1291 on X and Y axis. Eventually the compass offset is not below the value of 600. If so have you faced any pre arm check! ? If so how do you solved it. Kindly help me out. Am currently facing that "compass offset high" pre arm check failed. Waiting for your replay

    • @TMacFPV
      @TMacFPV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Casey, one way (perhaps the best?) to attempt resolving this is to enable "Compass Learn" for in-flight calibration on a transmitter switch. I've got mine setup on channel 11. so, with the latest Beta version of Mission Planner, I have RC11_OPTION set to a value of 62 (Compass Learn option). By doing this, I have previously been able to Arm the Quad (with compass offset high error message, after activating the Compass learn switch). Then, takeoff, compass learns, when learning is complete, I de-activate the switch. Works for me. Another way you could try this (not on a switch) which I have not attempted is simply by setting COMPASS_LEARN to a value of 3 (for in-flight learning). This should accomplish the same thing as done on a switch, however, I do not know if it will allow you to arm the quad with the error message or not since i have not tried this myself. Finally, I have increased the COMPASS_OFFS_MAX value from its default (not able to recall what it is, perhaps 750?) to a value of 2000. Hope this helps you out.

      Sure! Put a "Belly Cam" on it like I've done in this video th-cam.com/video/EFYtHgFZYNY/w-d-xo.html or put an extension mount running out the back of the baseplate and attach the camera to it similar to what I have shown on my site under "Landing Skids, Belly Cam Mount & Tail Cam Mount Extension" here tmacfpv.com/nexus/

      Acro is just one of the many flight modes in ArduPilot. Tune it correctly and it flies great. Flip through different flight modes using switches. My main mode is Acro, but it's nice to flip to Position Hold, Loiter, Altitude Hold, Stabilize, or Auto. (for autonomy flight missions) for a change of pace

    Anyone have a suggestion for a very tight build like 15mm tight. I am not sure the matek h743 and esc can fit into that space. I am thinking kakute f7 aio and 4 esc. instead. The reason for the limitations is that I want to use it on a 360 Stanfpv cinebird drone. It's super low profile. Or can the matek h743 slim and 35 amp esc fit that space?

    TMac: I did a 1st flight yesterday and tried to use my flight modes but nothing worked, But On all my Drones that have Pixhawk FC's , My thro position has to be in the mid position to be able to go into any flight mode, Would this be the case with this setup? If so I can only get my thro when flying to mid way between off and mid if i put the throttle any further in the up it will be out of sight before I flip the switch ? I need some help on this I've never had tis problem setting up any of my drones before. TMac/Anyone ??

    • @TMacFPV
      @TMacFPV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      throttle should not need to be n the middle position to switch flight modes. However, what I have done for my "higher authority" quad is to set the motor thrust hover to "learn" as demonstrated at this time mark of my last video th-cam.com/video/AF6aA2z6rhw/w-d-xo.html . That way, Arducopter automatically "learns" what the hover throttle level should be. Once again, I do not believe throttle level should be a factor in changing flight modes. Check them out in the Radio Calibration Tab (and/or flight Modes tab) of Mission Planner and flip your flight Modes switch on transmitter to see if flight modes are activated properly. Sounds like you may have an issue with your setup.
