He really didn't let it cool and settle. That's why it looks sorta raw but its cooked and trust me its tasty and soft. It'll look less gooey once cooled.
Ran out of bread late at night so used your recipe, with a few minor changes, and it came out as a substantial country white bread. I added a tbsp of melted butter and a pinch of sugar to the yeast. In the morning I punched down slightly, formed as if making a traditional loaf and then put into cold oven and turned heat on which helped to raise a little before it baked through. Really easy and had some tasty bread in the morning. Thx.
@Pixelmari I used the fast acting. Not sure why warm water. I just went with what I saw on the internet. Probably because hot would have a stronger reaction.
Doesn't make any sense. Are you stup.. or something?? It's logic to let the dog out when he tries to eat the food, it's even harmful for the dog. And he also is making it to show the viewers how, go be irritating somewhere else
That's not Lazy Man's Bread. Lazy Man's Bread is buying it at the grocery store. If you want fresh baked, you can buy the pre-made loaf that is ready to bake, either on the bread racks or in the freezer.
I think the name suits the recipe. You might want to name your idea "Too lazy for real bread"... LOL. If you want "fresh" bread you have to make it at home or buy it as it comes out of the oven. Pre-made or frozen is not the same as fresh!
@TheVicci38 are you using self rising flour? did you confuse baking powder with baking soda? did you remember the salt? how old are your ingredients? I would carefully examine each ingredient and give it another go. are you at a higher altitude? Some times that can affected boiling water and bread rising times.
This was like a Seinfeld episode. The one with Poppy not washing his hands after a bathroom break, then kneading pizza dough. Here he plays with the dog then handles the dough...SMH
hey :) I made this bread and it turned out very heavy , I followed all instructions , but was wondering what kind of flour an yeast you used, I used all purpose flour and easy yeast many thanks for the videos :) x
@AAPontillo try it again with fresh ingredients. Was the flour old? See it's the flour that browns in the oven. did it still take good or was in not done cooking?
I make this bread a lot with some very minor variations like a tablespoon of honey in the batter mix. For a slightly more sourdough flavor let rise 12 to 18 hours instead of 8 to 12. The longer it sets, the more "sour" the dough. The biggest difference for me is the baking step. I preheat a dutch oven (le Creuset 6 qt in my case) to 400 deg and place the dough in the hot pot as a ball. Bake covered with lid on at 400 for 30 min, lower the temp to 375 and bake uncovered for 15 minutes or until you get the color you want. The makes a beautiful rustic boule loaf that just falls out of the pot when done. The loaf in this video looked underdone to me and the extra time is important for thorough doneness in a boule. YMMV if you use a different shape as in this video. Bottom line, this is a great rustic bread recipe, very easy to put together. You just have to think about doing it well in advance due to the long rise (ferment) time.
This recipe halves very easily. I use 1/2 envelope of Rapid Rise and it's ready to bake in an hour when placed in a warm place. PERFECT size for dinner for four. And this got rid of the doughy center. We usually put some Italian Seasoning in the dough and sometimes use pretzel salt on the outside. JUST THE BEST RECIPE EVER! THANK YOU!
@pogobat88 it takes 60 seconds to make the bread. There was nothing else to do. Everything I had to do to make it took all of 60 seconds. letting it set over night is always expected with bread. As for baking in 25 minutes, that couldn't have been any easier. I didn't claim to be eating bread in 60 seconds. You could but I wouldn't recommend it.

Looks awesome Jack. I might have to try this. The Italian seasoning on the outside is a great idea too...you could also brush it with a little clarified butter, and then sprinkle your seasonings on.
Next time, put the dried herbs in the lukewarm water for about five minutes and strain them out, and then add the yeast and make your dough. Your dough will be flavored nicely throughout and you won't have hard burned dried herbs in your mouth with every bite.

Don't think it can get simpler than that. Why is everyone freaked out because he didn't take a nuclear shower after holding his dog? He's cooking for his family. So, if you ever eat out, you have a lot more to be concerned about than a guy holding his dog, then cooking his own bread.
yeah, ive done this one several times before. its serviceable at best. its actually not all that cheap when compared to storebought, and for the most part, its not even as good. its more for the novelty of making your own bread, but its only pratical if youre out of range of a grocery store.

Diluted ≠ Dissolved
The word is '' dissolve '' NOT dilute ! One must '' dissolve '' the yeast in the warm water.
Wouldn't the right term be to "bloom" the yeast as it really doesn't dissolve either?
