A truly sharp knife possesses only three surfaces, while a dull knife exhibits four. The sharpening process effectively restores the blade to its optimal state of three surfaces. I must commend the sharpening system you employ, as it appears to be quite effective, albeit somewhat laborious. In contrast, my own sharpening technique utilizes stationary honing surfaces in conjunction with a movable blade. Even the dullest knife can be revitalized by commencing with a 250-grit diamond plate to establish the desired edge profile. Subsequently, four additional diamond plates are employed (in order), followed by a flat of compound impregnated leather (50,000 grit), and a flat of plain leather. This rigorous process culminates in knives that exhibit exceptional sharpness, requiring minimal effort to slice. Furthermore, the sharpening angle is remarkably straightforward to master. 🙃

@@DrewJacobson61 The servers are back online. How old is dirt? The concept of dirt's age is multifaceted and encompasses various considerations. Recently formed soil, commonly referred to as dirt, originates from the composting of organic matter, a technique frequently employed by horticulturists to enhance soil quality. Earthworms, for instance, possess the ability to generate new soil within a relatively short timeframe, typically measured in days. Moreover, the Earth undergoes continuous geological transformations, leading to the emergence of novel geological formations. Volcanic eruptions result in the production of fresh lava, which subsequently solidifies into rock, thereby forming the most recent landforms. Processes such as erosion and weathering contribute to the breakdown of existing rock into smaller particles, which, when combined with organic matter, constitute the foundation of soil. Consequently, the formation of "dirt" is an ongoing process driven by these natural phenomena. 😎 ZXLMaster
I just bought a lawnmower blade sharpener, one of the diamond sharpeners, and eyeball the angle. Medium pressure on both sides with a light pressure to remove the edge burr as a final pass. It's quick, and with repeated use the knife retains the angle of the sharpening grooves on the cutting edge. If further honing is required, a ceramic rod or the underside of a ceramic coffee mug will do the trick. The unglazed ring on the base of the coffee mug is equivalent to a ceramic rod. And, as pretty much everyone has some, is cheaper than buying a ceramic rod.

Awesome. This is cheaper and more fun than a spyder sharpen system and I’ll use it for axe heads or big yard knives. A pinched blade and two oppositely mounted sticks of sharpening material is still supreme. This is still great and will always work
