It's such a breath of fresh air hearing three dudes talking about of all things....Helloween. Residing in a small country town, no one around here listens to metal, let alone knows who Helloween is. This was a fun video.

Helloween is one of my all time favorite bands ever!!! They are the Godfather's of European Power Metal, and in my opinion Kai Hansen is the Godfather. I do love the Kai Hansen era the best , but I do love all their eras including the Andi Deris era. I can not do a top ten list because there are too many amazing songs, but I will do a top list of at least one song from every album.

Helloween's latest live album United Alive In Madrid is PHENOMENAL!! It is close to three hours of their whole history of catalog, and Helloween has all three lead singers from every era which is amazing. I love how Andi Deris and Michael Kiske did some songs as a duet from both of their eras, and I love the newest song Pumpkins United with all three lead singers singing. Helloween has always been one of my favorite bands of all time, and I love that both Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen are both back in the band after almost thirty years since they have been in the band, and I am really looking forward to their next studio album since all three lead singers are officially in the band now, and Kai Hansen is my favorite songwriter ever from Helloween. All of them are incredible Songwriters, but Kai Hansen is just amazing. I also really love Gamma Ray and Kai Hansen put out many amazing albums with them. A top ten Gamma Ray song list or a ranking of their albums would be awesome also.

I had no idea Gorgar was a real game. I had seen it in the arcades (a Google search now showed me some old familiar but forgotten imagery) but I never gave it a second look to even catch its name. I was more into the video games and wasn't much for pinball (until T2). The name only became of any meaning to me when Helloween did the song. While the lyrics clearly indicated it was about a "gambling hall" game, even then I still had no clue it was based on a REAL arcade (pinball) game. This is so cool.

Helloween are my favourite band.
1. Ride the Sky 2. Eagle Fly Free. 3. Halloween. 4. How Many Tears. 4. Starlight. 5. I’m Alive. 6. Music. 7. Save Us. 8. Rise and Fall. 9. Heavy Metal(is the law). 10. Future World. I’m a sucker for Kai Hansen Helloween. The first album and EP are just some fucking epic speed metal.
Steve and I have the same history with Helloween - I dropped them after that Pink Bubbles album came out, as I already felt Keeper Part 2 was on thin ice with how "goofy" some of the songs were getting. I had dubbed them "Melloween" becasue I felt they were straying too far from being HEAVY metal. So the Live EP that followed Keeper Part 2 was my last Helloween recording addition and that was it for many years. It was only last year that I finally resolved to catch up on (as Steve so aptly put it) "the Helloween explosion", once I realized how much they got back on track with the "serious heavy metal" (with the coincidental departure of Kiske and induction of Deris), with their cover of Judas Priest's "Hellion / Electric Eye" being one of the earliest hints of this. I still feel Pink Bubbles and Chameleon are their "least best" albums (but with a few decent/redeemable songs on each), but the rest turned out to be great - I really missed out all those years.
I still love/prefer the early Hansen era (EP & debut album) the best, though.
Helloween is currently recording their forthcoming new album with the whole family (Current lineup rejoined by old veterans). Did you know that they had a new single "Pumpkins United" out? Also the same name of the family meeting tour. The forthcoming album is almost finished.

The Hell On Wheels tour was Helloween, Armored Saint, and Grim Reaper back in 1987 on Helloween's Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 1 tour . There are pro shot videos of all three bands on TH-cam from Minneapolis that are phenomenal. That is a tour that I would have loved to have gone to, but I was barely 10 years old back then. The Headbanger's Ball tour was Anthrax, Exodus, and Helloween back in 1989 on Helloween's Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 2 tour.
Does anyone else now understand what LSD must be like just from staring at Steve's walls behind him? Wow! :-)

I saw Helloween at the Metron in Harrisburg Pa. with Grim Reaper, & Anthrax. The first time I ever moshed. I was in the pit for six or seven songs before exiting to get a drink. I went into the bathroom to splash myself with water because I was overheating. Right when I did that some guy walked in, saw me and turned around in fear and left! LOL! The water was steaming off me and I was beet red! He must have been tripping and thought he saw the devil! LOL!

I got to see Helloween on the Pumpkins United tour a couple years ago and it was friggin' awesome. A bucket list show, for sure. How about a Blind Guardian top 10 songs (or ranking the albums)?
Victim Of Fate is a classic but it's undoubtedly influenced by Phantom Of The Opera by Maiden. Saying that, i love the early Helloween stuff.

There would be too many songs to name! Helloween my all time favorite HM band since I first heard the Keepers albums in 1990. Pink Bubbles Go Ape my first ever vinyl as a 12 years old child. I love all eras of the band but Michael Kiske is THE VOICE of a God and an angel in one. Kai was the leader great songwriter, Ingo RIP set the template for speed/power metal drumming, Markus one of the best ever metal bassists and a complete madman, Weiki the greatest songwriter for me, Andi excellent singer/songwrite/frontman, and all the rest of the guys rule!

Wow this is a tough one, not sure I can really do an order but in trying to pick 10 songs that really strike the right chord with me I've come up with -
- Kings Will Be Kings: Raw power and speed, Kusch's drumming fills are particularly great, "Oh no! Oh-oh no!"
- How Many Tears: The Live in the U.K. version is amazing
- Do You Feel Good: Such lovely melody, almost Abba-like
- Still We Go: The syncopation on the verse is probably my favourite Helloween moment "Speed up to a higher limit!!!"
- Where The Rain Grows: Happy Happy Helloween! Smooth
- Dr Stein: Simple but effective (and a bit silly)
- Gorgar: Actually the Iron Saviour version with Kai is the first version I heard and is better than the original IMO
- Keeper of the Seven Keys: Just epic with incredible melodies
- Where the Sinners Go: Such a strong track from their later stuff, great power
- Eagle Fly Free: Absolute classic power metal, the breaks where the bass and drums get to do fills is inspired, Ingo's last fill where the double-bass kicks in is gorgeous
There's not many good Deris-era songs but Kings Will Be Kings is brilliant, that chorus is awesome, sticks in your head for a lifetime. Salvation and Lavdate Dominum come to mind. Not too enthusiastic about their 'lovin' that god' thing though.
Kai Hansen is the best helloween vocalist
Kai Hansen is definitely my favorite Songwriter from Helloween and I also love his other band Gamma Ray big time. They have so many amazing albums and I love both the Ralph Scheepers albums and the Kai Hansen albums as their lead singers. Land Of The Free has always been my favorite Gamma Ray album, but I do love them all big time.

Halloween is a great heavy metal band. I love all their albums. But, I prefer andi deris as vocalist of Halloween. One of my favourite track is, the time of the outh.
