Congratulations on your 50th video. You absolutely don't "need" to put on make up ever. The more we normalize looking the way we do without spending money on "products", the happier we can all be in the bodies we have rather than chasing some unrealistic manufactured version of perfection. I'll get off my soap box now.

I'm 100% with you on the comfort of no-makeup days and comfy clothes. When I come home from work the first thing I do, after giving my fur babies some loving, I get into my comfy clothes. It truly does feel wonderful.

Ohhhh, this had me in tears. Just watching and hearing the pure JOY of you and Charlie together.....I was laughing so hard I was crying. THAT is the magic of life. Thank you so much for that. Congratulations on your 50th. I think I've been here for most, since the beginning when you barely showed your beautiful face on the videos, to now....without makeup and all around gorgeous. I love the world you share with us, both thru your camera, your words, your thoughts and your life. I really look forward to what your future will hold right along with mine. I was a massage therapist for 25 years. I completely understand the struggles of your own business. Last minute cancellation, slow summer months, or the worst, when I would get sick, made things super stressful with money.

I just love the way Charlie is so happy and plays with you, running around, making you laugh. I live with 3 cats and when they get wound up like that, everybody laughs hysterically. I totally agree! You need makeup free days. You're adorable with or without makeup. My mom always told me you'll thank me one day for not letting you become dependent on makeup and teaching you how to care for your face. I'm almost 60 and I'm glad I listened. 😊

Hi Kate & Charlie ! I sit here and drink in another one of your awesome videos. Kate, I wish I could give you some friendly advice but I struggle with self motivation and depression. Don't get me wrong, I am so grateful for everything God has blessed me with. My life just didn't turn out how I envisioned it and I am having to adjust something's. I went through a divorce after 32 years of marriage, had the privilege of being care taker of both my parents until they passed away ,had a hemorrhagic stroke ( brain bleed) an almost died due to uncontrolled blood pressure, and now old enough to retire and have retired. Oh I had a grandbaby stillborn too! Nothing rips your heart out like seeing your baby carry his baby's coffin. So as you can see, sometimes life events happen and sometimes life hits you hard! I am telling you this because I am much older than you Kate. I am 67 years old with ten grandkids, ( my blessings). Do the things you enjoy and if it's photography, do it! You are very good at this and really can schedule what you want and name your price. I enjoy your video's very much! I don't know about You tube or if you make money from you.tube but you have quite a following of viewers! I also know your an artist and have made some of your art into useful pieces ( your blanket on your bed). Have you thought about selling some of your artwork or items you've made? Maybe you could supplement your income with this. You have Soo many talents!! I just want to encourage you because I really think you are more talented than you realize. You could make cards from some of the scenery that you have taken...even blank inside or a inspiring quote. Recipe cards picture one side, recipe on back. Your infused recipes for skin and hair, etc. I have so much faith and confidence in you, Kate! It just makes me want to be a younger version of you. We only get one day at a time and before you know it your my age, 67! Which don't get me wrong I am blest and grateful. Do some research, ask God for wisdom and direction and He will help you! I wish I could just have a cup of tea with you and visit, give you a big hug and tell you, Kate, you've got this honey! Cause you do!!! Sending you a big hug from Texas! Currently trying to figure out how to have fun while making some money too, just to pay bills and give time for the joys of living. Simplicity isn’t so simple to achieve but not impossible. Here’s to us who appreciate the beauty in sunsets, puppies, and homemade soup! 🥂🌅🍲🐶
I honestly don’t know where to start with this comment! I loved this video so, so much! Charlie’s zoomies, the delicious looking chicken soup ( one could almost taste it), but especially the photography parts. That photo shoot was beautiful. I was a wedding and portrait photographer in Pennsylvania for many years but when I moved to Nashville 8 years ago, I didn’t restart my business . I have been thinking about starting up again and your video made me want it even more. I will focus on girls and their horses as I’m a wild horse photographer and advocate. Thank you so much for this push and a beautiful video. You are truly a gifted photographer ❤️

The photos are fantastic - really WOW! Your client must be really pleased. Helped to have someone so photo genic on a lovely golden afternoon. Just stunning. Thank you for sharing your ups and downs and struggles in self employment. Self employment is what suits me best as well and much more freeing. I have set many people up in their own business and found that is something I really enjoy as well. I am grateful now to be retired and still self managing my days to be productive. Your soup looked delicious and Charlie was very entertaining as usual. 🥰

If you still have a lot of herbs left to harvest you can do that, chop them up and freeze them in small portions in some water in ice cube trays or small lidded containers. Then you just pop the frozen portion into you cooking. Fresh herbs all year round 😊 Beautiful photo shoot and congratulations on your 50th! ❤

Self-employment isn't for everyone. However, one very flexible way you could add some income is to substitute teach. It's all computerized now, so you can pick and choose your assignments. I have already scheduled 13 days from Oct 30 through all of November. I'm retired and living on one income like you. I find getting out and joining the world of education occasionally brings me joy. Just something for you to think about.

Your cottage is so cozy - I can see why you would just want to sit around in a comfy sweater & watch TV. But I'm glad you put together your 50th story because your videos are so relaxing and I always find something relatable. Today and the last 3 days have been very rainy- I guess we finally have an end to our hot dry summer in the valley. Green grass is already popping up from the rain. Charlie is so funny! What a joy that little pup is for you. 💞
You're right ... I may have made it too cozy, lol!!!! Growing up, my mom had victorian furniture in the house that was very uncomfortable so I dreamt of only having comfy furniture in my own home. You are perfect as you are...no need for make up. Make up ages a person's skin anyway. Enjoyed watching you in your shoot for the lovely lady and her amazing property with gardens and chickens.
Don't give up your photography. The results of that exquisite photo shoot belongs in a high end magazine.
Sometimes on your drives i try to guess where you are since i live in New paltz. Lots of gorgeous scenery on the mountain roads around here.
My favorite place to walk is tge long sidewalk at SUNY college tennis courts. You can view the sun setting in the distance behind Mohonk Mountain House tower.
1) Charlie’s crazy charging makes me so happy! 2) Yum that soup looks good. 3) congratulations on your 50th video! 4) Thank you for the insights into running your business. 5) In addition to earning money for photo shoots, what could you sell online year-round for another income stream? 6) Good on you for choosing activities other than TV! When I lived in the country without electricity, the short days and long nights were challenging. My memory is staring at the fire quite a bit, as well as straightening out nails we had rescued from old buildings, to use in construction. You have electricity so many more options. I’m curious, do you have local friends who could come over on an evening and sing around the piano and enjoy some of your delicious meals? 7) I moved to remind you and all of us that winter is a time for nature and all of us creatures to hibernate. So doing less is absolutely the right thing to do!
Charlie with the zoomies is absolutely hilarious! I've been working on getting things ready for a craft show this Saturday, so I've been crocheting and sewing up a storm. This is the first one I've been to since covid shut everything down, so it feels great! I envy you the rain! We've had sch a dry summer. It finally rained yesterday but that was the first time in nine days! You'd think living in a river valley that we'd get a lot of rain, but not this year. I'm so ready for fall and the cooler temps!

I love, love, love your videos. No, you certainly do not need make up. You look adorable with your hair up and those fashionista earrings. I love getting a peek into your life in upstate NY. I grew up there and will always miss its scenic beauty and I miss the honesty and kindness of the people there too. Seeing Charlie do his zoomies made me laugh out loud. I realized it was the first time I laughed today and it felt so good. You’ve inspired me to think about making soup. It’s time ! And soup is my favorite meal. Your photo shoot photographs are stunning! I'm enjoying some beautiful September sunshine here in the UK, the simple pleasure of watching how the sunlight falls at different times of the day, flickering leafy shadows of the shrubs and trees in the garden as they fall onto the kitchen table. There's something so indescribably beautiful about the light in September and it plays with my heart strings over the departure of summer as we head into the darkness of winter. I'm making the most of it by having my windows and doors open as much as possible, from morning through till dusk and at dusk the garden becomes incredibly noisy as a large group of sparrows descend onto the tall bamboo to discuss their day, I will miss them in the winter months. Today I was up and out to visit our local market to buy groceries, and now I'm enjoying my second cup of tea along with some yummy soft bread with homemade bramble jam whilst watching your video. Next up I need to book a chimney sweep and order some logs!

So much, you covered...
Being self employed, does have it's challenges but, had I to do my life over, with the wisdom, I have acquired, over 76 years, going to work for someone, getting paid, spending it all, is not a success story. The more you earn, the more you want, the more you spend and, at the end of the day, it didn't bring freedom or great happiness.
Less is more and, that applies to make up, clothing, size of your home, stuff you buy, etc.
This is why, so many of us, are excited to see how you are getting on. You have found, at your young age, perhaps through necessity, or choice, to live within your means.
It has given you...freedom, time to spend with what matters and, what you love, buying things from thrifting which is so much fun and, rewarding, gardening, music, crafts, cooking, valuable time with Charlie, trying different essential oils, to make, decorating your spaces, taking time to take it all in, be you and, now, share your lovely journey, with all of us.
Okay, so You are making less money but, you will compensate, for that by finding ways to make it all work.
Just, keep being you. True to who you are. You are doing, just fine.
Can't wait to see what you have in store for us, next.
Since, retiring, as I have mentioned, to you, I spend all my time, with my disabled hubby, of 55 years. We had it all, so to speak but, when we were facing health challenges, we gave it all up.
Life is simpler, quieter, more meaningful and, in it's own way, gratifying. By simplifying, our lives, I am able to share all my time, with him. Preparing his favourite meals, sitting alongside his bed, feeding him and reminding him of all our years, gone by. Whether he takes it all in and, understands it, is not important. What is...we are, still, together just, older.
Life is full of blessings, all we need to do is, slow down and, count them.

Your photography is beautiful. The fall scenery is so luscious. We moved to Texas a few years back and I miss the trees, mountains, and roads winding around rambling hills. We are still in the 90’s, but I embraced fall by making a few loaves of pumpkin bread for some friends.
These are great days for art, knitting, reading, and all the other cozy things I like to do. I try and make myself do a few house chores before I sit down to knit. I really like painting, but tend to put off art days. I’ve watched other people’s skills grow because they paint almost every day, but I feel lazy and hold myself back. I think it requires discipline and intense concentration and it’s easier for my to pull out the knitting and put on a sweet show and just be comfortable.
So that is my big goal this season. Doing a little work before the fun stuff, and then making myself go into the studio and paint, practice, cut paper, anything.
Always enjoy your videos! It can be difficult to motivate ones self when there's no "boss" over you. Haven't worked since I had neck surgery Feb. 2021. Finally got my disability, but took my Social Security in Dec. '21. Money does tend to be tight, but it's the aimless days that pass without notice I find concerning. You seem to fill yours wonderfully and that's a gift!
I hope your neck is feeling better! don't be too hard on yourself about the aimless days. Especially since your body is still healing. I've often found that enough aimless days or time eventually lead to a little surge of energy and desire to do and create. But it has to come on its own terms : ) Sending big hugs!❤❤❤

A perfect example as to why one can never believe what is in a picture…..most are posing in one manner or another for one reason or another or they are touched up or technically edited….it’s hard to know what to believe….it’s good you are doing what it is you enjoy…. I am in the midst of à life change I did not seek...widowhood since June when my husband died suddenly. It is a challenge to figure out what to do with myself and not lié on the sofa in front of the screen too much. Like you, I réalized that can be à trap. I decided to only keep one streaming platform which already helps. I do love to read and that is a lifesaver. You seem to embrace taking it one day at a time, and I too think that is the best way. It is fun to watch you try to tucker out Charlie 🐕

I find that sometimes I need to watch something, or read something, that keeps my body still as I can get too physically busy and overtire myself. Important to listen to the body signals to slow down and get horizontal :) Rest is as important as doing things, and art and creativity can sometimes feel like another 'to do' as well. I know we can swing one to the other though, too vegged or too hyper😝 Seeking balance in it all, that's me 💞

Charlie's zoomies were so much fun to watch. My 2 girls are older so it is very rare for them to do that anymore. Just watching and listening to your videos are so relaxing to me. It is my little piece of therapy to just shut everything else out and enjoy.

Oh my goodness! I was so excited to see that you watch Scottie! He is definitely high energy, but, boy does he know about cars! I am sure you are getting all sorts of comments on what car to buy, but, I am going to chime in. If you could find a Honda Fit, that is the car that lasts forever. It looks like it would be too small, but, surprisingly, it is very roomy! I have had mine for 6 years, going on 7, and, it has never had an issue once. They never go down in value, and, if I wanted, I could sell mine for as much as I bought it for. The maintenance is minimal, but, the best part is the gas mileage! It is not quite as good as the Prius, but, it is close! Anyway, so sorry to ramble. You just got me excited about crazy Scottie! As for your photos, they, of course, are stunning. You absolutely captured the essence of Vogue. To end this, I will just say that you are living life the way it should be lived. Your philosophy of working to live and not living to work is perfect.
There is nothing more comfy then sweats or jammies. I stopped the makeup thing 20 yrs. ago. It is so freeing, and natural is the way to go for me. You do you and best wishes for your business 🎉😅❤

Your photos are absolutely enchanting! You definitely captured some magic in that photo shoot. Have you ever considered doing outdoor pet photography? Now that's something I would love to do. Like you, though, I don't like the "business" part of it at all. Kinda takes the joy out of your passion. I'm older, so I have my social security and also a pension from one of those very boring government desk jobs. I had to look very hard for ways to remain interested in what I was doing while imprisoned, I mean, employed there. I just kept reminding myself about the pension and insurances I could carry afterwards. I've been doing more of my nature photography, which is the flame under my pot! I'm also finishing up the freshening up with new paint and flower decals I did on a very old 3-drawer dresser and making homemade crochet dishcloths for a friend. Thank you for sharing more tidbits of your life and the hilarious antics of your darling little Charlie! 😍🥰

Im in South Jersey and we have been under the same rainy weather. I pulled down fall and Halloween decor from the attic and have been getting those things done. Yesterday we an afternoon of sunshine and I grab a cup of coffee and sat on the back step and enjoyed my view. I live on a lake and I never know what little animal will walk across my yard.

I stopped wearing make up years ago and I don’t color my hair anymore. I am 72 but I stopped in my 50s I feel so much freer by doing this. Pouring rain out today in Massachusetts but next week looks like it’s going to be beautiful. Thank you for talking about/recommending the book about habits of highly effective people. I'm going to gat thr book. You and I seem to have a bit in common. I have my own small (dog sitting) business but I also get my SS retirement. It can be a challenge managing finances because there are some slow periods, so I have to work on managing money too. I was never really educated about money management so it is a challenge. I save as much as I can for lean times. We all know grocery prices are out of control right now! And necessities, too. So many expenses! I am a watercolor artist and I worked diligently on my paintings until 6 years ago when my dog passed away. I use the excuse that she was my muse, and quit painting. I've tried to re-start several times, but gave up. I know I can get back to it, but i hold myself back (no one else does!). You're right about finding a balance.
You're an inspiration to me. The only thing I'm missing is a beautiful little cottage. Thank you for your wonderful videos and great advice based on the way you live your own live. Blessings your way... and bunches of thanks again

I'm always SO thankful for your vids! i actually watch them at night when I'm spinning yarn on my spinning wheel because your videos are so calm to watch--which means I don't run my feet a mile a minute--which is bad! lol! Really, you have such a lovely eye and I ADORED seeing that photo shoot! You've got such a great eye!
This fall I'm finishing spinning up some yarn to knit into hats and a jackets, and in October I'm going up to a remote area of Northern California to learn how to build a cob oven! I'm also waiting for the weather to cool down more--which won't happen until November here in Southern California to start planting cool-weather crops like lettuce, peas, carrots, onions, and cabbage. So for now I'm doing major overhauls of my garden beds and raised beds.

Last year I did workshops and help build a strawbale house from start to almost finish (we only plastered two outside walls) and then did another learning how to make earthen plaster and earthen floors! I'm hoping to make my own strawbale house and cob/strawbale cottages someday! I think you have some lovely projects too! ;) I need to see about not watching as much TV as I do. Lol! You're definitely inspiring to me!
Treasure every moment of self employment. I was a writer for several years until this past February when I had a stroke. One of the things I lost was the ability to write create sentences. The facts are there but the creativeness is gone. I have retired at age 76 & miss it.

Charlie having the “zoomies ” was so funny 😄 He’s such a sweet little chap. I sometimes watch tv/Netflix/dvds (yes, I still have one) for 2-3 hours per EVENING in the bad weather, never mind per week lol 😊 but I don’t feel at all guilty about it, everything (housework etc) still gets done and I have numerous hobbies too, so do what makes you happy Kate. I think when you live alone as you and I do seeing another face across the room can be like having company 💛. Your chrysanthemums on the steps are looking gorgeous, what a bargain they turned out to be! ☺️💐🏴
