  • Moving on with the restoration of the 1984 VF750F Modern Classic. They are all back together now but I’m parking them while I get to removing and rebuilding the engine. They still need the jets replacing, if I can find some, one of the diaphragms needs replacing, and all the o rings. I’m going to make a frame to hold them together while I work on setting them up, and thanks to a very helpful viewer who provided me with all the know how. Thanks Michael 👍

    Many thanks for posting this. Great detailed footage. This video will come in handy for when I start the carb rebuild on my 83' VF750. Keep up the good work👍

      Ah well I hope you upload some footage. I’m in the process of rebuilding the whole engine, will have a bunch of videos uploaded in the next few weeks.

      @@memybikeni9931 I'm dreading doing that. I've stripped the bike down completely and it's now in several boxes. Engine is on the garage floor but I'm still trying to pluck up the courage to start on it! 😁👍👍

      @@matthewarcher6493 Its a challenging lump that’s for sure. Presently I’m struggling to remove the water pipes to the heads. I’ve got low compression on all four pots and. Erm low on number 2, front left, water in the oil, and white smoke, so not sure what I’m going to find.

    As a rider of a 1985 vf750f your bike was on the verge of being a parts bike for another vf750f. But your tlc is doing the job to make it an awesome bike once more! I will download all these videos and keep them on an SD card with the repair manual!

      Yeah that it was, and I’m determined to make it into my daily rider. It’s a massive job, the calipers are all stuck, the forks need rebuilding, the clocks replacing or making good as they are Rev limited for the Japanese market, and the less said about the bodywork the better. I’ve already cleaned the tank which looks great inside now.

    Hi Rich. Looks like the carbs are coming together ok. I have sent you an email with photos wich might explain where the extra spring go. I hope you under stand it. All the best, Mike.

      Thanks Mike, that’s all very helpful, I think I understand them fully now with all the assistance you’ve provided, and the photo you sent of the fixture made from the intake manifold was brilliant. What did you cut it with, looks extremely neat. I realised about the vent from underside of the diaphragm cover, not sure where it vents to, presumably into the Venturi, I’ve seen them on other carbs literally go to a union to the outside, with a filter, on the later Hondas they have a sub air filter. Everyone is different I guess. I did manage to break one of the bushings surrounding the choke linkage, which I have repaired really nicely with a piece of carbon fibre pipe of the same size OD and ID, and have just one diaphragm to replace as it has a tear that I didn’t show on the clean. Yours are super clean btw, I’ll be redoing these before they go back on the bike. Thanks for all you help so far, it’s been super useful, Rich

      @@memybikeni9931 Hi Rich. Thanks for that. I must make a confection though, these pictures are from Andy on you tube , His channel is called Bike Man, I think you've mentioned him before. So there his car rebuild. Unfortunately I only have pictures of mine pre rebuild. The pictures were take form his series of his vf750f rebuild video 15 and 16.

      @@michaelsmallbones2638 ah right, yes I’ve seen his channel. There are lots of useful resources out there, but really appreciate your input. Especially the manifold tips. It will make it a lot easier. Just contemplating how I’m going to get this engine out on my bench with the space I’ve got, need to clear some stuff out of the way to make proper room, and dealing with recent motorcycle injuries, not fully fit.

      Who needs screwdrivers. Nah they were too past it to describe by the original fitting, so pointless trying to use JIS, Philips, or whatever, I generally see what fits best, and when nothing does, cut them out. This is 40 years old, it won’t comport to standard. That’s why we use heat, drills, cutters, grinders…

      @@memybikeni9931 sounds like you dont know what that jis is and what miracle it does, i did repair mine and its never been repaired and yeah it is 40 years old, culd not have got one single screw out if i didnt just a JIS, always use correct tools :D work smarter not harder mate

    • @memybikeni9931
      @memybikeni9931  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Karnalzion These screws were not JIS, they were just FUBAR which is a type of fitting that rejects all known screwdrivers but remove them i did. I really couldn’t care less about smarter or harder, I just do what I need to and on this occasion with little effort or a JIS screwdriver in sight. Yes I know what they are, I work on Japanese bikes all the time. I replaced them with new, and the only injuries involved were to the sensitivities to the JIS brigade. everyone knows what a JIS screwdriver is, some of us just choose to play with the tools we have, although I have hundreds of different types of driver so… Nothing hard about removing stuck, rounded fixings. I’m used to it.
