    I was so excited about this video! But the lack of telling us the rent for each place is a huge bummer. I live in NYC so it would’ve been helpful to know the rent in each area that you looked.

      Same! Like what is the realist view and expenses. A lot of her content I love because we can relate, but part of that content should be transparent, not even an exact amount just an approx.

    How is it helpful if u didnt even tell us the rent of each apt. Its not like we can do anythin against u with that info?? I mean idk why its so weird for ppl who wanna help on these topic to tell us that or at least a range.

    Just FYI to anyone watching this, broker's fees are now only allowed to be 1 month of rent. The Housing and Tenant Protection Act of 2019 was passed (and became active) on June 14, 2019 and the City Council also recently passed a bill limiting both broker's fees and security deposit to one month rent. If someone is asking for more, it is illegal. Just keep this in mind when you're looking for places as many people in the housing industry in NYC really milk tenants for their money.

    • @CaraMarie13
      @CaraMarie13 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I know. I wish it was retroactive and they made them give us back our money. My broker charged me $1800 for my studio. The rent is only $1250. Like it's great that this is the law now but I wish I could demand the difference back.

    • @xFrapx
      @xFrapx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is not true. There’s no limit to a brokers fee. There’s currently laws being proposed, but nothing has been passed.

    • @toreknee
      @toreknee 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To add to the above, you can 100% negotiate the broker's fee! Everything is negotiable.

  • @l_c_120
    @l_c_120 5 ปีที่แล้ว +255

    Yeah I don’t understand why you wouldn’t say the rent of the places you didn’t even end up living at?

    • @jeffreytabois
      @jeffreytabois 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It keeps people from finding out her income, if she told you the monthly price all you would have to do is times it by 40 and find out her earnings that she would need to have in order to afford the place she's looking at (this is the real estate broker in me talking). Some people in this world have issues with people making more money than them, which as well all know can cause people to act out and harm others for no other reason then jealousy. Feel free to look at my new your city apartment tours in my channel.

    Fyi all in NYC renters beware: All older building claiming to be rent stabilized or controlled have history of each line documented by courts. I lot of the landlords and property manager are converting studio to 1 bedroom and 1 bedroom to 2 bedroom in rent stabilized unit. Some will even offer utilizes include. If the bedroom doesnt seem to properly fit the bedroom with a least a full size bed with 2 night stands and no closets. Those bedrooms in 1st apartment look exactly like I said, converted apartment. It registered with fire department as a 1 bedroom but illegal converted to 2 bedroom with sheet rock to separate the 2 rooms for extra money on side. If there a fire they would know blueprint for that line of apartments. I saw converted studio to 1 bedroom utility included but the refrigerator was next to bathroom literally and no bed could fit in bedroom that was made with sheet rock beside kid size bed. NYC has all kind of levels of slumlords exactly now that the laws are going more toward renters which they will find loopholes again they always do. Just got to be wisely ten steps ahead of them.

    There’s laws now in NYC that make it easier for renters. Brokers CANNOT charge more than the rent for their brokers fee, and it’s only legal to charge 1st months rent and security deposit. A lot of brokers are super shady so know your renters rights!

  • @emiliabolsas
    @emiliabolsas 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You keep saying you don’t get anything in return for broker’s fees. But they are the reason you even knew an apartment was available, they showed it to you, answered all of your questions and selected you as the best potential renter from the many people who were interested. Brokers typically have the best apartments and you are paying the fee for the access to the better apartments with less-shady owners/managers. Think of it as insurance against a bad experience that could cost you much more in the end vs. a no-fee apartment. The only no-fee apartments I would consider are those in a fully managed/newer construction building where there is management on site.

    It’s crazy how location matters so much. I live in Yuma, Arizona and my house is a two story with +2,800 sqft and we pay only $780 a month with three bathrooms and six bedrooms. The electric bill is about $400 a month but still not $2500 a month for an apartment.

    Excellent, excellent video but really wish you would have also included the actual prices of these apartments so we know exactly what you get for the money in each neighbourhood & for what amenities. At least a price range of what to expect if you don’t want to reveal exactly what you pay (...understandably). . That way someone can know what areas to avoid, what to expect within the apartment at that price, and how much money they need to budget for. I still don’t know really what to expect to pay & need to save as a total! 🙁That was the huge, huge but only crucial detail missing from this great video. 👏😃 Thank you and maybe you can talk about that in another video?? Please? 👍😉. Glad you found such a beautiful place. 😊
