I went out to buy a Bad Boy last month and ended up buying a Simplicity. I realized that the most important thing to me wasn't just to cut the grass. I wanted it to look amazing when I was done. I really liked the Bad Boy, but after cutting the lawn a few times with the Simplicity I noticed that people were commenting on how good the lawn looks. Ride and durability are important, but cut quality is really what we are looking for and the Simplicity has our lawn being noticed. As I Google it and learn more about it, I think Simplicity has always been known for how much better they actually cut lawns beautifully rather than just mow the grass. When durability and ride are solid I think we have to focus on cut quality first.
My local dealer offers this mower with two engine options, either a 540cc Briggs or a 725cc Kohler Pro 7000. The Kohler is offered at an upcharge of $380 over the Briggs and I'm curious if this upcharge is worth it?
For heavy use, Kohler. For an hour a week, Briggs. Keep Briggs filter and oil changed at the start of every spring. I have Briggs. It is also very simple motor. 1/3 acre here.
I bought a Ramler back on Sept 2022. Has the Kohler 22hp engine. I added Bad Boys assist bar. Delivered to my home, which was free, out the door cost was $3988.
@@RiseT14 I'm on a double lot. I'd estimate 0.60 acre. I almost always mow the entire alley for our block. Many times I mow part of my neighbors lawn on both sides of me. Total is around 0.75 acre...maybe a tad bit more. Depending on the grass height, it generally takes me about 1.0 to 1.25 hrs.
Got mine near Harrisburg, PA. $3300 Cash price. If yours is 4200, it maybe 2023 model with a 23HP Kohler. Overkill imo unless you really going to push this thing every day of the week, which is perfect for a inside them 48" gates, for commercial mowers. 19 Briggs is even overkill for my 1/3 arce.
@@bertroost1675 Rambler has best deck on market I know of. At 7g it will take a beating from them roots banging around. Bumpy is bumpy. Rambler has seat springs. Comfy for 2 acres. Stihl's and Ferris have 4 wheel suspensions on entry level models that are usually overkill for a semi flat yard. And your talking $500+ now. Is it worth it, hard to tell.
Would you recommend the Rambler or the Husqvarna 200F series? I like the build of this but also like the kawasaki on the husky. My yard is pretty flat overall. If you could detail why you choose one over the other, that would be really helpful.
The engine is better on the husky, which makes it a great choice. Plus it’s got an hour meter. The deck is not quite as heavy (10.ga) while the bad boy has a more heavy gauge deck and better side chute. Both are going to drive the same although I’d say the husky has slightly better steering because the control arms are a bit more premium. Plus I think the front tires are bigger on the husqvarna I’d go with the Husqvarna z200f but make sure you get the F series. We’d be happy to deliver one to you. If you’re in need. Best,
Rambler-7g deck, 5gall fuel tank, a bit cheaper. Hus-Crazy 24hp power engine, deck bigger at 48", but real thin at 11g. Only if you have real thick grass would I get the Hus for the power. My worry on it would be the deck durability. If shed kept, it be ok thou.
how many inches is it from the seatback to the drive handle while in reverse i sat on a 52 incher and the handles where in my chest when i pulled back on them was about 12 inches gap with the seat all the way back
If you’re having that issue I’d recommend getting the adjustable steering arms which will allow you to position the arms so that they don’t hit your chest.

I just put my first 10 hours on my new Rambler. Nice machine. Quality construction and very nimble in tight spaces.
Everyone loves their new stuff. Let us know in a year or two. I am thinking about buying one myself.

The single cylinder engine is a dealbreaker for me
Just bought one today. No hour meter. Warranty is based on years, not hours.
You can add one in about 3 minutes.
Like my rambler so far, but engine exhaust pointed at the ground will turn grass brown if you stay still for more than a few seconds :(

I really want this mower but the changed from a vtwin in 2024 and now it’s a single cylinder mower. Why? I’m forced to get a Toro now.
I have 4 acres but only mow two of them. I'm thinking on getting one. I am not worried about speed or getting it done super fast.
If 2 acres are not too hilly, this is only mower on market you want. Best $ to quality. Change oil and filter every season, no matter hours thou.

The Revolt SD comes in a 34” cut which is the smallest mowing deck bad boy features on their mowers.
Any issues with the Briggs motor being a single cylinder for residential use?
None so far, but these mowers are designed or light duty use. so I would expect this machine to run reliably for 500 - 750 hours.

The bad boy is well built. Do not get one with the Kohler engine. My ZT Elite developed an oil leak and caught fire. Total loss.
