Every parent of every kid that plays a sport need to watch this and listen to the message. Don’t complain to the principal, AD, etc. make your kid go practice and get better if they don’t make a team or play as much as you think they should.
D'Vontay Friga no problem my daughter didn’t start playing volleyball till 7th grade. She didn’t play a lot her 1st year at school and made the E team her first year of playing JO travel volleyball. Instead of complaining she worked hard and practiced even when she didn’t need to. She is going into her junior year and she has 5 division 3 coaches interested in her. Her #1 choice is actually Mount Union. She has an “unofficial” visit planned for next month.
I can’t wait to show my son this he is in 7th grade and just found out he didn’t make the basketball team. He’s really upset. The kids that made it 3/4 of them have never played before he has played since 2nd grade. A kid who never even went to try outs not once made it 🤔🤔 I have an older son who is in 8th grade and made the 8th grade team very confident lots of friends exactly like your brother Isaac. Most of the time they all hang out together which is nice but all the kids on the 7th grade team are at Prestons lunch table he says it doesn’t bother him but I’m sure it does. 😢. He is playing rec again so he is excited about that. He never scored under 10 points last season and over the summer league 3vs3 most games he had 15, 22, 30 points parents would stop me and compliment him. As bad as I want to email or say something I have not l bite my tongue when I see the coach but part of me wants to. My heart breaks for him but the 7th grade team has lost their first 2 games and I just say karma bc obviously it’s politics and it’s at every school but it’s just hard to watch your baby upset. But I told him that’s ok just get yourself better than ever and prove them all wrong next year and come back better than ever!! Thank you for the video and best of luck.
I got cut from my sophomore team and next year I’m trying out for my varsity basketball team and this was very inspirational 💯 edit: it’s been a year so here’s an update, my junior year i tried out for varsity but i got cut and the jv coaches caught interest so they invited me to play jv. but my friends were saying jv is for sophmores and freshmen’s and a junior playing jv is just trash so i quit the team. gonna tryout for varsity now again my senior year.

Hmm...I never made my middle school team and I kept trying out 4 years, and no one ever told me to keep practicing and such...When High school started, I still didn't make the team. So I started going to the gym and would sneak in sometimes whenever my high school had a game (the game was held at the YMCA). I would just practice handles and shooting eventually I got good...Sophomore year, I did make JV, but it was so unorganized and we only played one game out of that whole year...Junior year, I made the varsity team, but it didn't even feel all that great because my coach at the end of tryouts said "Okay this is our team." And it just didn't feel all that satisfying, but I was still excited. I was excited, until I only played 1 game because it was really my first organized basketball game in high school...I really wanted to get used to it, but my coach didn't help me as much as I asked what it was I needed to improve on...She told me "I just want you to play like how you practice." So I assume she wanted me (and yes we had a female coach my junior year) to be confident...I don't know how to prove that to her if I'm not getting in the game, but playing like it in practice...Also during my whole high school year, everyone was always talkin trash to me and just doubting me, saying I'm the weakest basketball player of all time and such...When my junior season ended, I walked my ass to the gym every fuckin day when school ended. I improved quickly since I had some friends who were better than me and could accurately critique me. I was really ready for senior year....however I didn't even make the team after tryouts ended. Also heard the list was made a week before tryouts...So I decided to 1v1 someone for their spot and it was guy who didn't even show up to tryouts and he was talkin mad shit. I beat him 10-7 and I kid you not, people were surrounding us when we played lmao. Coach didn't seem happy though when I beat him though lol. We got a new coach too after the female one left. I didn't play too many games nor did I start...When I started for senior night, I had like 12 points, 3 rebs, 1 assist, 2 steals...yea ik it sucks, but I hardly play and get only 2-3 mins per game...I only averaged 1.6 ppg ikr lmao my "friends" (not the ones who helped me improved) talked shit to me as well lmao. But when season ended, I didnt quit...I decided to go JUCO while my "friends" were going to a D2 college...I didnt make the team in college, however later on when cconference started, the coach told me to start coming to practice and prepare for conference. We only had 5 players starting off since majority of them were ineligible. I averaged 6ppg ik I suck but i dont have much experience and the coach just made me a corner shooter that whole conference since I kept getting turnovers which im still frustrated about...Still not giving up though...come to found out one of my "friends" was in the army and the other couldnt even try out for the D2 college, yea crazy how shit work...but right now I've been slacking a lot... Ok now I do have some people that think I'm good at basketball ok😂😂😂 just look at my basketball videos and give me,some critique
@@wcuspeech I never made the team legit is what im trying to say and then I would hardly get any minutes...the part where i made the team in college happened like this: I came to tryouts and I was carrying my team and was just hitting every 3pt shot I took and playing defense as well, but I still didnt make the team. So in the start of December, Coach had a feeling he was about to lose players because they were ineligible and some of them might quit the team, so he spoke to some old guys that have seen how I play (even though he should know by now how I play) and asked them if I should be on the team and they all said yes, so before the basketball game began, Coach told me to record the game and come to practice as well

i am a freshmen i just turned 15 last week and the freshmen basketball team tryouts are right around the corner their next month. and i an practicing a lot i am over weight for my height which is 5'7, and every time i try to work out in my room or start a diet or something i always screw up i would be like "0h ill d0 iT ToMMorr0w" but then i just dont do it but now im going to work really hard I've got one month to practice that should be enough i did not make the middle school basketball team at all 7th neither 8th grade. i was pretty bad at tryouts i always use to get nervous. but now im going to stand strong and walk in the gym like a man when tryouts come along im going to ace it. because i believe in Christ that i can do it ,i also believe in myself. i just gotta have the faith. my dream of life to be in the NBA when i grow up. most people don't think i would make it they would always laugh at me or make fun of me or do whatever. even my own friends would criticize about it. but i just ignore all that. and thought about the positive stuff.i was pretty upset when i did not make the team i felt so sad and depressed. it was just the worst feeling to have. mean while I've been practicing but it hasnt been enough now im going to practice harder and harder. ill never give up on my dream never i will not just sit there and hope things are going to work out. im going to get my self off the couch and get to work now it gets serious. no more excuses.
