I’m loving the 7’5” Steez. There are a few gems in that lineup.
Looks great! Awaiting Icast to see what might be on the horizon. Thanks for going over the rod!
ICast?! Bunch of knockoffs on the horizon. There you go - no more waiting necessary 🍻
Daiwa has been knocking it out of the park with there new products. I use this one for lots of stuff its amazing
👊🍻
What all have you used it for?
I really enjoy that intro!
This rod with the long handle is absolutely amazing for mat crashing heavy mill foil, coontail, pond weed, etc. I Matt crash 1-1.5 oz tungsten weighted t-rigs through some heavy Matts and this is the best rod that I have ever used for that method.
Theoretically I can see why it would be the most sensitive because of the stouter tip. Less vibration being absorbed when dragging verse your softer tip rods. I do have the same version in old tatula ags and it is a great jig rod. Not sure if that tip is same as the steez ags but there was a little tip on it.
Luis showed me that rod yesterday, I opt for a Jackall instead because I've had durability issues with Diawa rods in the past. Love the reels, bought a Zillion yesterday too. But I've had 1 Tatula Elite snap & another tip break with minimal use. You're shop & staff was a great experience. Highly recommend.
Thank you for your business 👊🍻
I started using the bottom contact 2 this year and I was very impressed with the sensitivity, might have to add one of these to the lineup.
If you like the bottom contact sensitivity I think you’ll be very impressed with this one 👍
It cracks me up at guys that buy high end rods for frogging. Sincetivity doesn't matter. Power and give so you can cast it easily is what matters. I use a $49 Academy composite rod. 3/8 - 1 heavy power fast action and it is the best frog rod I've ever had. 😂
I know y’all got rid of them but the st croix victory 7’4 Heavy is my go to frog and buzzbait rod. Light and stout.
Griff showed me that rod. I have been thinking about it. It's light and looks powerful
It’s an amazing rod!
That it is more sensitive than “the sensor” model is saying something. That rod is amazing as well.
The sensor is one my favorites too but sensitivity is not near the 7’4
@@gstixfishing9746 wow. Thank you, btw. I took your review of the Jungle Seven to heart and have been super happy pitching with it.
I was just there at the shop yesterday looking for you or griff and either of you were working. I'm from out of town and was hoping to see the legends. I think you guys are just the face of hook up and don't actually work there lol. Like the Jake of state farm or the flo of gieco lol. The people that were working complained about how no one comes to see them lol. I told him aren't you the elf with the bonheur in the Christmas special lol. He laughed and started blushing lol😂😂😂. Kool vid guys
Sorry we missed you - thank you for coming in and harassing Ethan though! 👊🍻
It's a sin to me to mix daiwa and Shimano
😂😂
I guess I need to take my two Stellas off my Steez 761MML rods then. And my Steez CT SV off the Poison Ultima. And my Exists off the 821 NRX. Nah, they go great together :)
It would be like dating your sister!
I agree! Shimano is my choice
Well, I’m not rod racist so I’m open to any good reel fitting on any good rod 👍
Frog is one area where I cheap out as I hadn't considered sensitivity with a frog rod. I've been using a St. Crois 7'4" Heavy... the only cheap rod on my deck. May be time to dug back into the wallet. As I'm waiting on Fed-Ex to drop off XX Diablo Spec R today. 😂 God this shit is more addicting than drugs!
Ben and Griff - what would be your take on using this rod for a swing head / biffle bug?
Originally, I was thinking about this as a frog rod but after this video it has me thinking about other options.
I was looking at the Bottom Contact II as my swing head/ Bifflebug rod, but now you have me leaning to the heavy cover special.
I’d like to hear your thoughts.
Can’t wait for Christmas and the $1k mystery gift box.
I was super stoked with what you guys put together for me last year.
I hope you will be doing the xmas mystery boxes again.
Have a great Thanksgiving guys and X-Mas is right around the corner
I was thinking about this or the st croix legend xtreme 7'4" heavy. Any thoughts on which is better.
I dont see you talk about the 79H which IMO is one of the best rods in the lineup. That thing is sick for mag drafts, football jigs and C rigs.
It’s a dope rod. I see several people requesting a video on it so we’ll do that 👍
I have two Steez AGS rods, and I want to use them more so bad... but I freaking hate the lock nut on this rod. It's way too big and messes with my index finger. A lot of reels just feel goofy on the reel seat because of it too. At this point it's something that's just distracting while fishing, probably sell them both and get more P5s (already got 6 of those, might as well add to collection)
If this series had locknuts like the P5s it would be GG... so good.
This is why there will never be one rod that is best for every person 👍🍻
Come on oldtown hook Griff up with the autopilot 120!!
how would you compare it to gan craft dead sword in the sensitive department
Interesting... the most sensitive ags rod huh 🤔,
Ill have to look into that one
Maybe, maybe not - but definitely worth having on the radar
what about steez ags 7.9 heavy 😊need a video😮❤
Geoff behind the camera trying to not snicker at 3/4 oz being called mid size.
3/4 ounce wobble head jig and Carolina rig
what side mount rod holder was that on the kayak in the beginning?
Rod holder is from mariner sails
Whats a frog rod i thought we are trying to catch fish . Guy looks like Victor Wong from big trouble in lttle China 😁
How are the spinning rods?
is it to fast for dragging a jig/ c-rig offshore?
No
I had 2 late 90 early 2000 steez both tip snap on me. 1st one snap on the first cast and after warranty 3rd outing snap, after that never touch daiwa rods.
There were no Steez in the late 90’s - but regardless not every rod is right for every angler. I haven’t personally been a fan of Steez until this lineup, so this is just a “keep it on your radar if you want” kind of video 👍
Edge rods and North fork composites blanks are the most sensitive ever made, Gary Loomis designed rods. Why get anything else.
Steez isn’t the same as it used to be . The old XBD is still the god father of frog rods ! The new steez doesn’t have the iT factor . I have all the original steez rods and a few of the new ones . The punching rod is good , bottom contact is a little to stiff in the tip and the frog rod along with all of hers in the new steez line up is uncomfortable due to the reel lock but .Diawa should have used a better system in this yo make it more comfortable. I ca. punch all day with my original complie x’s and 802 steez harrier but the new compile x after a bit of use will numb your pointer finger on the lock nut . Steez ags gen 2 is not worth the price . Also unlike original steez rods these aren’t made in Japan . In my opinion all of Diawa’s high end gear should have “ made in Japan “ on it .
I would disagree with almost everything - but that’s why choices and options are good 👍. I find the bottom contact way too soft in the tip, this frog Rod exponentially better than the XBD and I love the lock downs 🤷🏼♂️
@@thehookuptackle_usa to soft in the tip wow . As for the frog rod the xbd is a much better built rod . Double footed guides all the way up much cleaner more sophisticated build , the new ags rods are ugly in comparison. Also having had a lot of ags rods I can say the guide system is brittle and they do break , dealing with Diawa’s new customer service is horrible . The new steez line leaves a lot to be desired . But I do tend to disagree with a lot of your choices in rods and baits . It very obvious that you and your crew are fanboys . I tend to lean twards the products that actually preform and have a better build quality vs what’s new and trendy . If you pay $500+ for a rod it should be exceptional, the new steez line isn’t . The punch rod is decent and a huge improvement over the blue ags 8’ but it still have that horrible lock nut . For diawa the best heavy mat punching rod they ever built was the 8’ zillion . Strong , decent sensitivity and power . That rod was almost perfect . If daiwa could blend that with the new compile x they would have something. But im from California fishing the delta , what do I know about fishing heavy cover and needing quality rods that work and last .
Great, i love how you guys NOW trash all the other steez rods for sensitivity now that everyone has bought the Power Pitch and Bottom Contact II .. bad as car salesman.. 😂
I’m not trashing them at all. I’ve never been a bottom contact fan - but the 7’2” H is one of my favorites of all time. But it’s not as sensitive as this rod. I’m just letting people know 👍
Great blow up. Bassmd
I could watch that blowup all day
If it doesn’t have a carbon monocoque, it’s not sensitive enough…
I see. I’ll put this steez up against any of your monocoques. $20? 😜🍻
Lol
😂 I need to snag a steez ags and see what the hype is about
Above the poison Ultima?@@thehookuptackle_usa
Who cares!
