The fact that you got to decide where you wanted to go is troublesome. You didn’t want to go to a man’s prison because you felt vulnerable with I am assuming fear of sexual assault. I totally understand that. What upsets me is that fear isn’t taken into consideration from cis women who protest they don’t want transwomen in female prisons. The self ID law that Labour want to pass will allow any person to identify without therapy, cross sex hormones or gender reassignment surgery. I truly believe once you break the law you wave your right to self ID and go to the prison of the sex you were at birth. Allowing transwomen into female prisons is a disgrace for women. I’m a gay woman and I think trans people should be made safe but not at the expense of making women less safer which is exactly what is happening.
This is the only video I’ve found, and one of the only pieces of info in general on a trans man in prison, wether it be women or men’s. Glad to hear they asked you how you present, gave you the option of men’s or women’s prison and the “trans pack” sounded great in theory - but too bad you didn’t have access to it... not sure what would happen if I were incarcerated in my country.... I’ve always wondered what might happen if I did though. Just got my name and gender marker changed legally so I wonder if I would even have the option to go to a woman’s prison. Even if it didn’t affirm my identity, I’d still prefer it over possibly getting sexually harassed and horrible shit happening in males prison. The only way I could prob get by is by rapping or making art for people - I heard that’s respected and can become a business where you do tattoos or sell custom songs lol.
Hey that’s crazy to hear this is the only info you have came across. I’m happy I shared my experience for that reason. It is a daunting thing not knowing where you could end up but I’m greatful here in the uk I was given a choice. Yes your right you have to earn your respect in some kinda way. I am creating a project in the uk to help Transgender people in prisons so please stay tuned for my next videos. Check out my Instagram also @translucentfund

@@reeddior yeah you hit it spot on bro. I been researching to try and understand the figures of transgender people in prisons in the uk and it is a number we have never known, for the fact a lot of people end up hiding that they are transgender or even from the LGBT community. This is to avoid any possible “problems” with other inmates or even the screws. A lot more needs to be done over here that’s for sure and bro it’s my mission now to at least try to make an impact.
@@leonbell5141 this is where it becomes extremely problematic. I have no doubt the majority of trans people just want to get on with their lives and cause no harm. BUT there will always be people who exploit the system for their own game. By allowing self ID and trans people to be able to choose what prison they go to we open up multiple safety issues for women. This trans man wanted to be a man in every other area of his life and expected society to confirm that UNTIL he was faced with the harsh reality of a man’s prison. This is a massive double standard. Women in female prisons are supposed to just let transwomen in no questions asked. Both groups cis women and transmen fear the same thing, rape and violence. Male pattern violence is very different to women’s. Men commit roughly 97% sex crimes and a extremely higher proportion of violent crimes compared to women. This male pattern violence transcends into transwomens crimes as well. The transwomen going into female prisons have a high chance of having committed a sexual/violent crime. Transwomen commit crimes exactly the same pattern as cis men. Think about that long and hard.
This was very insightful bro! Big up yourself for reaching a point where you are comfortable being open and thank you for sharing!! Looking forward to the next vid!! 🔥🔥🔥
Yeah that’s correct! Since there is other transgender people within the prison not just me you would think they would use pronouns and names more appropriately.
If you identify as a man and want to be treated as a man and commit a crime as a man, then why not go to a male prison. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
@@josephinebournes8212 yes I understand your thinking however due to me not having surgery yet I felt more vulnerable going to a men prison at the time.
Thanks!! That actually means a lot as even now 2 years later I feel I don’t fully pass! And most people commenting on this has been negative 😕 I’m doing an update in the next week as a lot has changed positively and want to share it!
Not trying to be a smart ass but if you are a man who identifies as a woman, what is wrong with being called a lady? serious question with no disrespect intended.
Lucky guy with no surgery…and all those ladies like a kid in a candy shop…as a straight male if I was doing life I’d say I was a female trans to get into a womens prison..isn’t this open to abuse 🤔
Because sometimes things go wrong in life and you make wrong choices. I took the wrong path and I except what I chose to do with my life at that moment in time was wrong and against the law. I was mentally unstable and also my housing situation was unstable therefore I made silly decisions. However what matters is being able to turn your life around and not being a statistic. 4 1/2 years later you could never imagine what I have previously been through!
Thank you for talking about this from a trans mans view! I’m writing a paper about trans inmates and this really helps.

Can’t anyone just say their trans to get into a sex prison of their choice

So you went to a Women's prison (by choice) but didn't want to be called "Ladies"???? Did I hear that right?

I guess In some states you get housed based off your genitals 🤷🏾♀️

@@tylatakai9081 Then wouldn't the logical solution be to transfer to a Men's prison since you're a man?

I saw a video explaining what happens to trans women in a male prison.

its a female who identifies as a male.
Btw I bet the women loved you.... You are easy on the eye.
That's not really the point here. Being stuck in the prison based on the gender you were born as vs the gender you really are is seriously messed up.
