- December 12, 2014 - Philippine Army EOD led task force joins group with members of the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police and the Philippine Marines to dispose thousands of rounds of Unexploded Ordnance.

That’s why you always have to use them for training exercises when expiration is near and not that practice.
I think they always use them for training but there's just too many, the Philippines is not poor in ammunitions.

For those who doesn't know, this was one of the reasons for the fallen 44's demise. The lone survivor said that the explosives of their grenade launchers attached on their rifles failed to explode. Had it been prevented at an earlier time, there might have been a different outcome.

I think it is better to drop it in the enemy location and when it hits the ground it will explode automatically but it need an special device to trigger it when it's on the ground.

That was 80,000 rounds of various ammunitions including 40mm HE grenades, 105mm shells, 76mm, WP and mortar rounds.
