Way to go getting the sponsorship deal you deserve it, the economy sucks and having that sort of offer youd be mad to refuse im sure everyone will feel the same go and have a blast
Gratz on the sponsorship Ruri! Glad you can get us all this great content without having to impact your life too much (more than all the travel already is lol). You’re getting us into gamescom with you as far as I’m concerned!
As long as he's covering something he's passionate about, I see it as a win/win. Now, if I see a Raid Shadow Legends shoutout, then we can start worrying lol
Missed the livestream, so here is my list based on the changes from Iceborne: S: Insect Glaive, Gunlance, Hunting Horn, Bow, Dual Blades. A: Heavy Bowgun, Hammer, Lance, Light Bowgun, Switch Axe, Sword and Shield. B: Greatsword, Charge Blade, Longsword. To be clear all weapons have received great additions, so based on impressions all 14 are good, B as a baseline stands for "interesting changes", A for "considerable changes" and S for "big changes" if you disagree or wonder about my takes feel free to ask, shame I did not make it for the livestream.
Just some of my thoughts for consideration. I don't like longsword, but I'd put it high A based on changes from Iceborne. It got significantly more new things than half the weapons. 2 new follow-ups after its most powerful moves, and an entirely new basic moveset with red gauge (among other things) is huge, more than it deserves if I'm being honest. In S I would put gunlance at the top, followed by hunting horn, as their core playstyles have been fundamentally altered and the new moves are the most numerous. Your bowguns I would say are oddly high, as they got some of the least changes shown. I would move lance up to top of A or possibly even bottom of S. It got the third most new moves believe it or not, despite them being on the subtler side.
@@thepowerfulpaet4937 I want to clarify that my tier list is in no specific order within their tiers, just because Insect Glaive was written first does not mean that its changes are more significant than something like the Hunting Horn. I agree with Longsword receiving many new moves, you are right, I might be brutally wrong here, but the reasoning behind my lowing ranking for LS is that so far I do not see how the implemented changes replace the spirit round slash into helm breaker sequence, as far as I understand peak LS DPS relies on getting to red spirit gauge as fast as possible and using helmbreaker as soon as it can reliably land on the monster's head, all other moves are just there to compensate for when these criteria are not met, so the core loop (as far as I can tell) remains entirely unchanged despite fun new changes. Perhaps I am ranking Longsword too low, but if I did rank it A it would not be because of the new moves, instead, it would be because the spirit combo into spirit round slash seems now to be able to change directions midway into the combo. From what I have understood LBG has two minor changes that considerably change how the weapons can be used while maintaining their optimal use: in Iceborne if you dodge you lose DPS. LBG users must use the very slow strafe walk to adjust for critical distance and position safely out of the monster's attacks. Shooting with LBG costs no stamina, with LBG's new mode repositioning comes at zero drop in DPS which means the user can make use of the stamina pool better than even a bow user without any penalty but a meager slap in the wrist with bits of stamina. The other big change comes in focus modes, as I understand the three mines can now be spent like rounds from a grenade launcher, unlike helmbreaker which is far easier the number of people I have seen either struggling or complaining about making mines work consistently is far greater, so for these mines to receive a new easy to use grenade launcher mode to proc wounds on the monsters make for an easy to access high damage move. Though few, these changes are considerable. HBG. I main* this along with Lance, so there can be bias here. Rapid Fire. Implications can mean the most potent raw ranged weapon could get Rapid Fire Spread 3, Rapid Fire Sticky 3, and even something as busted as Cluster 3 with Rapid Fire. HBG requires some specialization in its ammo uses, with proper materials later in the game HBG could very well be a top DPS & Knockdown weapon. HBGs now all seem to carry a shield, with the active block this changes how an HBG user maintains distance from a monster and how well they can handle aggro while being focused. Most importantly if true what I understood is that HBG now has 3 special ammo modes; Wyvernheart, Wyvernsnipe 2, and a new counter with a bomb at the tip of the barrel. I might be seeing things, but it does appear that all three special ammo types are usable from the same bowgun since they share the same energy bar. In later ranks, special ammo loses its value because specialization in the main ammo types out-scales the special ammo, so to have the variation and have the special ammo be how to proc wounds is significant for the long-term health of variation of the weapon.
After seeing the Wilds Lance overview, I decided to give it a try in WorldBorn. I am now a Lance main. It's freaking amazing to play. Sorry Gunlance...
As a lance main I actually equally relieved and excited for the lance. I’ve been so butthurt about how lackluster lance has felt in comparison to other weapons the last few games that I was convinced we would get left behind even more. Well I hope they at least nerfed chip damage too cause it was stupid in world, you could lose your whole health bar from a single combos chip damage on blocked hits in the endgame
I'm really looking forward to your Sword & Shield coverage. No one ever really covers or cares about Sword & Shield at these events -- and Sword & Shield is usually a barometer for everything else in Monster Hunter games.
Lance is S tier for the mid-combo sidestep alone, gonna be huge for positioning. It didn't need too many new moves; I'm hoping it gets decent quality of life changes, things like making it less reliant on armor skills. At least let the Guard deco be level 1 again.
@@Sygmus6 guard skill should only be 3 levels instead of 5, because the only relevant levels for blocking attacks are 1, 3 and 5. Guard lv2 and 4 are like irrelevant, sure we get less stamina consumption upon guarding but the stamina isn't the main focus of guard, but rather the ability to not get knocked back too much so we can easily follow it up with an attack or a counter.
My list goes as follows and is ordered (I'll explain some of these placements too): S: Hunting Horn, Lance, Greatsword A: Gunlance, Switch Axe B: Hammer, Dual Blades, Insect Glaive, Longsword C: Charge Blade, Bow, Sword and Shield, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun S Tier are weapons I'm 100% maining, A tier are weapons I'm really hyped to dabble with, B tier weapons are weapons I'm considering dabbling with when I get bored of the others, and C tier is basically for the weapons I have little to not interest in. Greatsword and Gunlance are kinda interchangeable since Greatsword got virtually nothing new, BUT, that counter is more than enough to get me, a GS addict, overly excited. Horn was my absolute favorite showcase, it's the only weapon I've taken the time out of my day to hyper-analyze and theorycraft on playstyles lol. Lance is also fuckin cracked in Wilds and I can't wait to master all those counters and box the SHIT out of the monsters. Funnily enough, I actually already play all of S and A tier in World so there's not too much of a difference in weapon interest between games. I usually gravitate to those 5 and then play an extra weapon or two based on additions to the game. Lemme explain B and C tiers though. Insect Glaive and Longsword could actually be a little higher or lower, but my two buddies that are as hyped as myself for the game main those weapons and I'm not particularly keen on using the same weapons as them. The dynamic of a hunt is just so much more exciting to experience when everyone else uses different weapons for me. That being said, I'm really interested in Hammer and Dual Blades especially for a 2nd play through (on subsequent runs after the first where I try to use completely different weapons). Hammer mobility looks amazing to play around with and Dual Blades looks hilariously fun. That being said, I'm not all that hyped over them, my attention is focused solely on S and A tier. So that brings me to C tier. So firstly, I actually like Charge Blade a lot in World but it just doesn't mesh well with how I like to play these games. It was the additional weapon I've dabbled with in World but I only really used it against Kulve and a little bit of Safi (till I got the Dragon Safi Lance then that was fuckin ggs lol). Charge Blade is cool as hell, I just prefer Swagxe over it. I also once upon a time dual-mained Bow and Longsword as my introduction into World when the came first came out. Ranged play, I've noticed, is not something I enjoy anymore now that I know how to use more than half the cast of weapons. Bow looks cool as hell in Wilds but not really sure I'll play it. Sword and Shield and the Bowguns are the only weapons I'm likely to never touch. I've tried to play all three multiple times in multiple play throughs in World and Rise but none of them have ever clicked for me thematically and mechanically; especially the bowguns. SnS is really fun in GU but that's because I like Oils a lot. I don't think they're badly designed or anything, I just couldn't get into them. Love playing with a good SnS player! That's just never going to be me lol. So anyways, DOOT DOOT, POKE STEP POKE STEP POKE STEP POKEPOKEPOKE is probably going to be my starter build in Wilds (unless skills don't benefit wildly different weapons like this, in which case I'd start with something like Horn and Hammer, double DOOT, or something like Horn primary and secondary GS just for tail cuts and wake ups)
I play all the weapons in MH but my favourite is Insect Glaive. Reasons: 1. The freedom to choose between close range attack (the glaive slash), long range attack (the bug sting) and aerial attack (the glaive propelled leap). 2. The leap can helps you get closing in or dodging away from monsters either on land or in the sky. 2. You get an additional pet (the insect and it is controllable) besides the AI controlled pets of cats or dogs. 3. The insect type also serves like a bullet type in the gun class weapon. You can purchase an insect to either have healing, poisoning or sleeping (tranquilizing), all the elements like fire, water, thunder etc. and the type of damage (to cut or to blunt). You can also choose the physical type of the bug, a bulky power bug or a skinny speedy bug. 4. A unique weapon design mechanic - a bio (the insect) mechanical (the glaive) weapon which requires a setup of aiming the insect at a monster body part to do charge-up (Red for ATK, Yellow for DEF and White for SPEED) in order to get the full potential of the glaive. 5. Stylish weapon swing animation. However, my most favourite weapon through out the MH history is the......... elastic rubbery fishy look duel blades - the Whetfish Sabers.
Beyond hyped!! Now to pair my Dual Blades with a tanky Gunlance or buffing with the Horn? Can't wait to try different combinations for different hunts! You're my main Monster Hunter channel!!
There are only 2 kinds of LS hunters. Those that cart, abandon the quest and those that don't care about the rest of the team because "muh dps" matters more, even at the cost of failing the quest.
My hope for wilds is that the weapon overviews actually get people to try new weapons. I've seen too many guildcards where the playtime is entirely a single weapon. Actually learning how to play the other weapons really expands your understanding of the game. And you never know, you might just end up discovering your new favorite. That happened to me. In previous MH games before world I almost exclusively played longsword. Then when the beta for world came out, I decided to go outside my comfort zone and use the training room to learn all the weapons. I fell in love with gunlance. I used it for about half of my world playthrough, then I learned SnS and it became my new favorite. It's my most played weapon now by a long shot. Then near the end of world before Iceborne I fell in love with hunting horn. And throughout Iceborne I learned hammer, bow, insect glaive. And I never went back to Long Sword. I was a Long sword exclusive main before world, and now I understand MH so much more than I did before. I highly doubt I would've enjoyed world as much as I did, if I didn't go out of my comfort zone.
@@chewbacachunks8644 I hope so too! Funny enough Rise made me become a jack of all trades and made me replay world with the same mindset. Wilds makes me feel this even more so so I can definitely see that happening!
I never knew about Monster Hunter until World and I got in after Iceborne's release. I mained LS throughout LR, switched to CB in HR and finished base World with it. Played CB throughout Iceborne as well, killing Fatty with it, clutched at 29:45 on my successful first kill. Switched to SA during my post game Guiding lands grind alongside some LBG/HBG. Now I'm just chilling trying new weapons, played a ton of Lance (+1000) loved it, Hammer and now I'm trying Bow. Good stuff!
Honestly Monster Hunter is your favorite game, you always try to be good for the community and despite your hatred for spoilers you always keep up to date... Man you deserve that sponsorship and I hope it is a amazing experience.
As a lancer there's a lot of quality of life that I like. In fact Wilds seems to give us like the best versions for each of the weapons, so it will be so fun to play all of them ! I think I'll put down dualswords and slashaxe in your tierlist, but I really didn't really play them. Thanks for all your content over the years, and your passion to our beloved monster hunter games :)
Honestly, I am happy with creators taking sponsorships if they are just honest about it. Don't hide and pretend. It's really this simple to maintain your integrity. I hope the young bloods take this as a precedent.
In honor of this channel, I think I'm going to main something with a shield for Wilds. Haven't decided if it'll be GL, S&S, or Lance, but it'll be one of those 3. Grats on the trip!
I'd love if you could take a peek at the weapon tutorial/hint screens and toss us any general information that you can as well. (If you're able to!) I really am dying to know if Hunting Horn has the more complex 3-4 note songs instead of 1-2 note songs, as well as how many melodies per Horn there are! Grats on the sponsorship and I hope you have a blast checking out Wilds early!
@rurikhan you do so much for the MH community, I'm a 5th fleeter and your tutorial videos and active enthusiasm for the franchise got me and probably thousands hooked on this game alone. If you were going to take a sponsorship from anyone Capcom MH is the one. You have probably made them millions in pr lol
What I liked on the Swaxe trailer is, that most new attack featured in the trailer are in axe mode. The idea of putting the focus a little away from sword mode and making the axe mode stronger is something I like.
It really feels like after watching all the trailers together with you that, they really only showed tid bits of mechanics. Really only giving us small pieces of the puzzle. CAN"T WAIT to finally get my hands on this game next year!!!!
I'm so happy that Capcom decided to fly you out and give you the opportunity. You absolutely deserved it, and it's been a blast watching all of the content you've put out for wilds :)
Lance main checking in! Very happy with the showcase, the lance already had a great flow I felt in MHW:IB (if you enjoyed the rotation).Lance is really looking great for Wilds. Really feeling the bow or insect glaive as a secondary, but I need to find out how skills work!! If you only have one set of skills shared between both weapons (which is how I'm assuming it will be), there are some more obvious crossovers such as lance/hbg for skills like offensive guard/guard up, bow/db for constitution/stamina surge, gs/cb for focus etc etc I really hope we find out at this gamescom showcase!
Funny thing, the gun lance showcase was so good. I have been having to teach people in the Monster Hunter Gathering Hall how to play it in World. So many people are migrating to my main and are getting so confused about how to play it.
I have a feeling that every weapon is getting these mobility and counters because the pace of combat is going to shoot up in the late game. If that's true, then I will be thankful for the tracking on bow
As a fellow bow main I agree. I would've preferred some sort of skill that rewarded good positioning and aim, this seems more like a crutch that won't actually be that impactful to skilled players that already know how to use the weapon.
36:10 The problem is that A LOT in the community share this not-serious / just meme point of view on the Longsword, or actually genuinely dislike the weapon and are not too shy to be vocal about it. This has been the case since the days of MHFU (2010), when the weapon was definitely not OP (easy to use, thus the most used weapon, yes, but GS and Hammer were WAY more powerful than the Longsword, especially against the very limited and predictable AI of the monsters). Longsword is and has always been the most polarizing weapon in the community, and some players may decide to not play the Longsword or stop playing the Longsword because of that, thinking "if so many in the community are biased against the Longsword, maybe it is for a genuinely good reason". Or simply not wanting to be the target of the memes. An anecdote from the days of MHFU. On a forum, someone actually created a post where players having played the Longsword in the past and wanting to "purge their soul" were to come and post screenshots of them selling all their Longswords, then saving their game", calling also Longsword players "sinners". Post created to badmouth the Longsword were far from rare even back then.
And it's the same with Dex weapons in Souls. Like as a meme it can be funny, but it gets old. I'm someone that just loves swords so I choose LS because it was more mobile then GS and did more damage than DB. I'm not even a big fan of anime. I did infact stop playing World and didn't get Iceborne for so long because with all the hate LS got in the community for being the simplest and requiring no skill to play. That really got to me for awhile. I spent time learning some of the other weapons. I really enjoyed IG, SnS, Swax, and hammer, but LS just feels right to me and more fun getting counters just make my brain happy. I don't care what people say now it's just a game and having fun is the number one thing you should be doing with it.
Also, a lot of people who genuinely hate the weapon also cite silly or just downright incorrect reasons for hating it. Like saying it's op when speedrunner leader boards for Iceborne show it's 11th place in freestyle runs (how the community generally plays) and 6th place for TA runs (runs with special restrictions). Then they'll counter by saying it's not the dps but how safe it is when Lance is way safer. LS counter focused gameplay in Iceborne incentivises you to constantly put yourself in harms way in order to exploit monster attacks. And for first time encounters where you don't know the timing of attacks, this puts LS at a disadvantage over other weapons that don't make you feel like you're missing out on dps for not trying to position yourself in the way of attacks. CantaPerMe, a prominent speedrunner, even lamented his choice to bring LS to his first Ebony Odogaron hunt, saying it was a mistake to bring it against a monster he was unfamiliar with.
It's borderline meme yes, but imo the vitriol is not completely unwarranted seeing there some kind of favoritism for LS constantly troughout the years in dev's part. Yes it might be not the fastest in Speedrun records, but it has gained so many strong offensive and defensive options that half of the weapon roster could only ever dream of, while having relatively low skill ceiling to be decent (but not necessarily master it no). I played LS in MHFU and I loved it so much, and I loved it in Iceborne and actually one of my 3rd main weapon after swaxe and gunlance. Still, I also resent the fact that LS gained a lot of favor by the devs throughout the years while gunlamce and lance kept getting the short end of the stick, peaking in Sunbreak where gunlance is still lmao as ever when discount flashy gimmick like that tocket jump, and LS being an even better counter weapon with i-frame abuse than Lance and its big mf shield.
@@fz_dracohart1255 A previous comment said that it is as if Capcom thought that Lance and Gunlance are too easy because of having a shield, thus should be balanced by having low damage. Then, Capcom introduced potion-worth chip damages even with max guard as well as attacks bypassing even guard up.
My issue is inconsiderate unskilled LS users who constantly knock teammates into stagger. It should not be on the people around you to have to dedicate a skill to you being bad at being a team player. It's been a problem forever and I will always stand firm on it.
My first Monster Hunter was Rise and I stuck mostly to Sword and Shield since, as casual, it was a pretty straight forward weapon to grow and learn with. If I get the chance to play Wilds, though, based on all the trailers, the two weapons I wanna try and play this time are Insect Glaive and Bow.
I’m happy for Ruri getting to go to gamescon with expenses paid for.Would love it if we got a little travel log with pics and clips, similar to what Gaijin used to do with MH events in Japan 😊
The Bow is nuts on Wilds, I'm a Bow main and I mostly play MHGU and the way it was presented gives the adept style gameplay vibes but much smoother movements...zero death zero monster hit videos of Bow mains will mostly pop in the future.
Monster Hunter World and Iceborne were both my GOTY and my first experience in the whole MHW series. I put over 300 hours into this game only using the Long Sword and Great Sword. I'm starting back over to play the Lance. It looks so awesome and I can't believe I've never used it. I believe Wilds are going to be something truly special.
my ranking for Im most exited to play goes like this: S: Charge blade, Lance, Gunlance, Bow A: dual blades, long sword, Hunting horn, Great sword B: Hammer, Switch axe, HBG C: LBG, Sword and shield, Insect glaive now these may change in aug 20th after the showcase more of it but from what i've seen this is how I would rank them (Note I like defensive and parry style weapons)
As a Gunner these showcases left me with more questions than answers... but at least I know part of my kit will be neat. Having RF ammo on HBG means that LBG is going to need to get some new toys to not just be "Little Brother". Worst case I finally get around to learning CB, the set in the video is so clean.
Lance actually got the 3rd highest number of new moves shown. They are fairly subtle and easy to miss if you don't know what you're looking at, but I agree high A.
@TornaitSuperBird True enough. I think it will be a lot more amazing to play than it is to just look at though. I am a sucker for some tight counters and parries, which it now has in spades. I counted like 5. Guard counter Power guard counter Insta-block shield bash Guard follow-up stab Charged parry
I think like 1/2 of those lance views are me.. it’s absolutely everything I wanted minus the guard clutch claw move but everything else is perfect! It looks sooooooo satisfying
Chargeblade has always been my main, followed by GS and LS...For range Ive always enjoyed the LG, and Bow. This is going to be an interesting and fun MH installment
I've never been someone who liked Gunlance that much but after seeing that weapon trailer I'm set on maining it for Wilds. Gonna take my current main weapon Charge Blade as my secondary weapon. It's funny we can now officially say "Swapping to your sidearm is faster than reloading" in a mainline Monster Hunter game. 😂
My personal tier list: S tier: Greatsword, Dual Blades, Hunting Horn A Tier: Insect Glaive, Hammer, Charge Blade, Switch Axe, Gunlance B Tier: Heavy Bowgun, Light Bowgun, Longsword, Bow, Sword and Shield, Lance My first weapon was the Greatsword when I started MH for the very first time in MHF2. I will always be a GS main.
36:26 I stopped playing LS because I kept getting yelled at for tripping people. Which is fair. I still take it out when I solo, but for party content it's usually GL or IG. Kinda prefer GL, because with the right build you can basically just ignore a lot of mechanics.
Hey Ruri, thank you for covering Gamescom. As Capcom sponsoring goes, I believe you will give us your honest opinion regardless. I wish you safe and enjoyable trip.
As a jack of all trades in my opinion the list goes like this SS: GL S: SNS, L, Bow, HH, DB A: HBG, LBG, IG, SA, LS, CB B: GS, H I'm including armor and weapon design in this. CB would've been a B if not for weapon and armor. SNS armor and weapons almost made me put it in SS tier but I have a bit of a bias with that weapon so I left it on S. This is the most objective list and I'll die on this hill!
Massive congrats on the sponsorship Dude! People who do this kinda work need to earn a living somehow, and let's face it, if you deserved a sponsorship, it would be for exactly this situation! Besides, like you said, going to this show, would have cost you a crap-ton of cash, and this at least alleviates that weight so you can focus on gunlancing massive monsters for us!
That charge blade "guard point" has no effects to indicate that it is one, when we see every known guard point lights the shield up during the guard frames.
I noticed every weapon that can block now seems to have a perfect guard mechanic (made a small video pointing it out) that leads into a counter. I also noticed Gunlance has new Guard Points. I speculated that timing a perfect guard might reduce or eliminate knockback and loss of health/stamina the way Adept Guard did. Could you test that when you get your hands on Gunlance and Charge Blade? 41:45 Almost definitely not a guard point, the shield isn't in any kind of defensive position and it would be a super awkward transition into the block reaction. The guard points are never when you're fully in axe mode like that. At least that's my understanding as a long time Charge Blade main.
1:04:03 as a Bow main? I quite frankly also refuse. Is bow flashier and more my speed? Yeah. But as you say, Gunlance got more new (or newish according to CaoSlayer) things than Bow, and they look like they'll change play-styles to be smoother, allow for new (and viable) play-styles, or both. The new things for Bow look great and I'll have a fuckton of fun with that dodge-jump(?) shot, but I don't feel like it'll change any existing play-style *AS* much. Even the tracer arrows I think won't change a lot besides obviously Dragon Piercer.
Seeing how the new mechanic is to have two weapons, I'm hoping it will be fairly easy to build out multiple weapons. IDK if this means more drops in general, more variety of drops and certain weapons share groups of items(blades use teeth, blunt use bone, shields use skins), increased drops for repeated hunts/knowledge levels, or the trail safari system bringing in more goodies. Hopefully it isnt TOO grindy. I do love grinds, but if i have to farm for a 1% drop for all 14 weapons......ya that wont be fun imo.
Hammer is a B possibly A for hammer mains. The inclusion of keeping sway is good especially if it has i frames. Side step in the golf swing combo. Heavy armor during big bang. Spinning bludgeon sucks so it's no big deal if it doesn't return.
So I am a light bow gun lover and enjoyer and the only weapon trailer I was meh with was the LbG one. Idk what that means for me. But I thought all 13/14 weapons were really dang hot!
Gunlance come out looking the best imo. Charge Blade comes out looking... kind of meh. SAED looks like nothing after seeing the nonsense of HBG and GL imo. Anyone who isn't familiar with it is going to think it's okay at best. Poor Hammer looks like it didn't get anything at all if you aren't really familiar with it. Dual blades comes off looking really good. Everything else is mostly middle ground imo. Like if you aren't familiar with the weapons you're probably left thinking "it seems fine". HBG looks awesome, but I know the reality will be Spread Shots instead of the .50 cal/grenade launcher fantasy you see here. LBG looks like dog crap after seeing HBG. Edit: I forgot Bow which is absolutely cracked. Maybe above GL for a lot of people. Easily #1 or #2.
I'm trying to figure out which weapon I want to main as my secondary weapon. So far i'm torn between Chargeblade and Dual blades, or Chargeblade and longsword. I want my second weapon to be something quick and fast attacking to add contrast to the heaviness of the Chargeblade. I could be convinced to do lance tho lol
Love the vids. All the weapons look great…..apart from Dual Blades (sorry just imo). However, it’s Hammer day one and then probably Glaive for me. My third will be LBG I think.
They said there are no plans for a new weapon, and I agree that it would have been a marquee item for marketing. I'm hoping that LBG doesn't get all ammo types as rapid fire. It will probably already be the best weapon in the game at endgame (like it always is); putting stuff like rapid fire sticky and piercing seems like it could completely trivialize some fights. Edit: both weeb weapons are so far down on my excitement list that I can't see them through all the smoke from the gunlance shells or hear them behind all the savage doot smash sticks.
I missed the live stream... I'm mad, what have the greatsword have done to you, it was wild asf, like the counter and the mouth opening technique!!! Well, it's ok, I can understand simple greatness can be forced on everyone 😔
I don’t know with wep I am going to main this time! I usually like to switch it up. I mained hunting horn in rise. I have all so mained switch axe and heavy bow gun in other games before. But I all so played bow, dual blade, light bowgun, S&S, insct glaive, a little bit of charge blade, hammer……. Basically I stay away from lance, gunlance and great sword, cuz there to slow for my play style. And long sword……. Wall enough said lol But I do get to say the show case for the gunlance looks really good! Ok I did play gunlance in monster hunter now because they made you play it for an event lol but that don’t count! This is all ways my biggest dilemma is what wep to play 1st and main! Any input on what wep other are going to play and why would be appreciated! at this piont i am leaning towards going back to switch axe i mean it just looks bad ass, swing this big sword/axe around at high speeds and you can have explosions what more can you ask for....... but i will change my mine a 100 times before the game comes out lol
I think you were very fair to LS Ruri, but you never mentioned what i think is the best change to it, which is the directional movemet on Spirit Blade combo. That's huge for moment to moment gamplay.
If they dont let me have something as satisfying as dragonatoring Jhen Mohran in Wilds I swear to good god I will riot lol. EVERYONE deserves to what an actually good siege fight is like lol
I’m still banking on tomorrow. I’m hoping for one more weapon. It’s gonna be a new weapon or a take on an old weapon that we’ve seen in some of the older ones. That’s what I’m hoping for. I doubt it will come true but a price of me is holding out hope.
Way to go getting the sponsorship deal you deserve it, the economy sucks and having that sort of offer youd be mad to refuse im sure everyone will feel the same go and have a blast

The actual reveal seemed like a good direction, but whether it’s really good or not depends on these things we can’t see in the overviews
I'm really looking forward to your Sword & Shield coverage. No one ever really covers or cares about Sword & Shield at these events -- and Sword & Shield is usually a barometer for everything else in Monster Hunter games.
Mhgen pokke village is still a certified hood classic
As long as Capcom doesn't forget to give shelling a proper scaling this time, gunlance is looking reaaally good
Honestly every weapon is looking awesome
Lance is S tier for the mid-combo sidestep alone, gonna be huge for positioning. It didn't need too many new moves; I'm hoping it gets decent quality of life changes, things like making it less reliant on armor skills. At least let the Guard deco be level 1 again.
It also needs a slight damage buff. 5%
I would love it for guard to be able to animation cancel like side step
My list goes as follows and is ordered (I'll explain some of these placements too):
S: Hunting Horn, Lance, Greatsword
A: Gunlance, Switch Axe
B: Hammer, Dual Blades, Insect Glaive, Longsword
C: Charge Blade, Bow, Sword and Shield, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun
S Tier are weapons I'm 100% maining, A tier are weapons I'm really hyped to dabble with, B tier weapons are weapons I'm considering dabbling with when I get bored of the others, and C tier is basically for the weapons I have little to not interest in.
Mad I missed this live, didn’t get a notification
Same here
The main theme showcase was beautiful btw nice choice for an opening Ruri
I'm glad you're taking the sponsorship, you deserve it. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the demo!
Imagine a 15th Weapon overview out of nowhere tomorrow
Boomerang 🪃
I wish xD
yeah imagine magnet spike comes back, sheeesh. You harness the unstable elements the elder dragon is causing around the forbidden lands.
The community would collectively lose its mind.
I don't think will be another weapon, but a showcase of Mounting, Sneak Attack, Palico/Sekret Skills
I play all the weapons in MH but my favourite is Insect Glaive.
Reasons:
Ruri's shock that for once in its existence the MH community chose not to glaze the fuck out of Long Sword 😂
This community hates LS a lot more than the normal community tbf
There are only 2 kinds of LS hunters.
Those that cart, abandon the quest and those that don't care about the rest of the team because "muh dps" matters more, even at the cost of failing the quest.
Who the f cares I play LS for enjoyment not for others' approval and everyone should do it too
@@gajspalt real LS users solo everything
@@moonrabbit2334 Based LS main mentality right here.
Didn't get to watch this live but I bet Ruri is going to put Gunlance at the top of his tierlist
(If you're able to!)
I really am dying to know if Hunting Horn has the more complex 3-4 note songs instead of 1-2 note songs, as well as how many melodies per Horn there are!
Love being a gunlance main. Lance, insect glaive, and charge blade have been fun as well. I approve of this list lol Thanks for showing me my main btw
Lancer here. So hyped for this game let's Go
I don't even play DB. But that showcase has to be S+ imo.
As a bow main, I'm not too fond of homing arrows. Imagine a hammer where you don't have to bash things on the head. That's how I feel
i feel you bro :-(
I have a feeling that every weapon is getting these mobility and counters because the pace of combat is going to shoot up in the late game. If that's true, then I will be thankful for the tracking on bow
As a fellow bow main I agree. I would've preferred some sort of skill that rewarded good positioning and aim, this seems more like a crutch that won't actually be that impactful to skilled players that already know how to use the weapon.
@@Swedsman it’s a coating and y’all act like ur playing cs. It’s not hard at all to aim in this game
Speak for yourself. This is amazing AF
Very happy to hear that capcom is taking care of you! Love that. Would love to come as well.
CB at A is a bit nuts, felt like it only got 1 or 2 moves, other than that yeah I agree with your list
Words can't tell how hyped I am for this game. Maybe my most anticipated
The thing I'm curious about is if hunting horn buffs linger after swapping off your hunting horn
Congratulations ruri! You did it!, now lets see if you can convince me that this will feel like old school monster hunter.
This might be the best monster hunter theme ever, it gives me goosebumps
my ranking for Im most exited to play goes like this:
S: Charge blade, Lance, Gunlance, Bow
A: dual blades, long sword, Hunting horn, Great sword
B: Hammer, Switch axe, HBG
C: LBG, Sword and shield, Insect glaive
now these may change in aug 20th after the showcase more of it but from what i've seen this is how I would rank them
(Note I like defensive and parry style weapons)
As a Gunner these showcases left me with more questions than answers... but at least I know part of my kit will be neat. Having RF ammo on HBG means that LBG is going to need to get some new toys to not just be "Little Brother". Worst case I finally get around to learning CB, the set in the video is so clean.
Hammer deserves more love in that tier list. The showcase for the hammer made me very happy.
Lance bro's eating good 👍 love all the shield bashing
Lance actually got the 3rd highest number of new moves shown. They are fairly subtle and easy to miss if you don't know what you're looking at, but I agree high A.
Problem is Lance is pretty subtle and understated as a whole so it's hard to really tell all the changes unless you really scrutinize things.
@TornaitSuperBird True enough. I think it will be a lot more amazing to play than it is to just look at though. I am a sucker for some tight counters and parries, which it now has in spades. I counted like 5.
Guard counter
Power guard counter
Insta-block shield bash
Guard follow-up stab
Charged parry
My personal tier list:
S tier: Greatsword, Dual Blades, Hunting Horn
A Tier: Insect Glaive, Hammer, Charge Blade, Switch Axe, Gunlance
B Tier: Heavy Bowgun, Light Bowgun, Longsword, Bow, Sword and Shield, Lance
My first weapon was the Greatsword when I started MH for the very first time in MHF2. I will always be a GS main.
You better take that sponsorship lmao!! Happy for you and booking foward to your content!!
Damn didn’t get a notification for the stream and Charged Blade belongs in S tier.
Congrats on the sponsorship! and from Capcom nonetheless! Can’t wait to see you covering some things at Gamescom :)
As a jack of all trades in my opinion the list goes like this
SS: GL
S: SNS, L, Bow, HH, DB
A: HBG, LBG, IG, SA, LS, CB
B: GS, H
I'm including armor and weapon design in this. CB would've been a B if not for weapon and armor. SNS armor and weapons almost made me put it in SS tier but I have a bit of a bias with that weapon so I left it on S.
This is the most objective list and I'll die on this hill!
My completely unbiased ranking:
S: Bow, Gunlance, Hunting Horn, Insect Glaive
A: Swaxe, Lance, Dual Blades, Longsword, Hammer, Sword and Shield
B: Charge Blade, Light Bowgun, Greatsword, Heavy Bowgun
It would be cool to see a Monster predictions video from what info we can get from the armor sets seen to date.
Gunlance fam. S tier for life. Boom boom stick go boom.
Dual blades + Light bow gun main! Can't wait!
Hell yeah get that bag, you've earned it!
I totally agree with your tier list. Very objective
So.... all the weapons that have a shield? My man. Gonna be a good Gamescom.
Ruri if you watch the hunting horn closely it’s a different one instead of the drum
I’ll probably give hunting horn a serious try in wilds. I’ve picked up IG, GL and Lance. NGL HH looks phenomenally powerful and fun to play in this
Hammer is a B possibly A for hammer mains.
Same experience here with swaxe! Guess we just had higher expectations for our favorites.
Dual blades and Lance my main weapon, backed up with Heavy bowgun.
Enjoy yourself down there it's an awesome opportunity for you!!
Hunting horn def S tier coming from Someone who actually mains horn
Wall enough said lol
But I do get to say the show case for the gunlance looks really good!
Hunting Horn looks DOPE.
Gunlance is love, Gunlance is life. Charge blade is cool too.
You needed to get Hengest on the line for the bow reaction!
Capcom is a badass sponsorship man congratulations
how do we know now if we are getting a crit? without the red sparks or the orange numbers?
Orange numbers are still there, they just purposefully removed it from the weapon trailers. You can check bow and HH trailers, numbers are there.
@@xTiddi thanks!!!
I coudn't agree more with this list having both my main weapons, IG and HH on S tier 😂
GS is not flashy.. it is satisfying. GS +hammer, GS+hbg, GS+GL. Not sure yet. But the set will rule them all.
And I'm a LS main.
Not biased to put gunlance at top of S. It easily showed the most new moves, and they were easily some of the coolest.
Hammer doesn't have all the flashy new moves but the moves they did change are S tier changes imo
I gained hunting horn awhile and boy this looks great
I’m still banking on tomorrow. I’m hoping for one more weapon. It’s gonna be a new weapon or a take on an old weapon that we’ve seen in some of the older ones. That’s what I’m hoping for. I doubt it will come true but a price of me is holding out hope.
I was wrong. So so wrong 😭.
Top 3 showcases: Bow, Gunlance, IG in that order
