Wow good collection I have a HMT ALLWYN and SEIKO 5 my GRANDFATHER gave it to me he is no more but those good memories are with me🙂

THANKS.Very nice collection. Some of these are rare gems. Even I have golden automatic watch like Rajat, 1975 model still working fine with original gold plated belt yet shining.
Even hmt Sona which I bought in 1994 still working, even hq quartz is still working fine ,which has got miyota japan movement.

Stunning collection Chiraag - thanks for sharing it with us. I myself have become a fan of HMT automatics with the ADSL02 being the daily wear. With narrow wrists, it's the perfect size for me (same as the Misuni Premium).

Hey great stuff, can you please help me know whether is it normal for HMT kohinoor caseback cover to have little gap like opening at the back where it closes with the main case or did I just get a faulty unit?
Hey Justin, I don’t think there should be any gaps. Gap would mean that water or moisture can seep in which should not happen

sorry to respond so late, hopefully you would have bought the watch by now. To be honest of the lot which is available on the website right now I like nothing so would suggest a seiko5. That's a good start for a first automatic watch

hello - sorry I am not sure where you can get all these watches. Getting Musuni premium would be very difficult, however you might get Saurabh Supreme on the hmt website, however its a different colour

Hi, even I use Hmt Kohinoor on daily basis. A little bit of buffing will do the job, search for a skilled watch maker in your city, see for someone older and experienced who has experience to deal with mechanical watches.

I am not big on smart watches but whenever I get my hands on one I will do a video
with all respect, as an Indian, please stop calling these arabic numerals! Thats how western folks call them but truth is numbers doesn't anywhere look like how they are being written in arabic. Rather the closest is our own devnagiri script. I have heard that HMT released Janata Devnagiri to make the point but did not resonate with people or the world. I love HMT Rajat and misuni hands

The HMT logo looks crude. One should remember that a mechanical watch is only for timekeeping.
HMT is costlier with the same Miyota movement. Some of the HMTs are costlier than watches with high grade Swiss movements. Look wise also, HMT falls far behind. They had neither the artistic talent nor the craftsmanship to compete with vendors like Invicta, Pagani or Mathey Tissot. Patriotism may be an honourable sentiment, but not enough to justify a commercial venture, especially in an age of online connectivity and shopping.
I agree with your views on commercial viability however I think its not a fair comparison with any brand considering that the HMT's watch manufacturing was shut down back in 2014. Also HMT majorly has only sentimental value to most Indians as it used to be the only watch maker of the nation at one point of time. Beaten by competition as it did not ride the quartz revolution and systematic govt interference to let the competitor do better led to the fall of market share of HMT watches and eventually closure of the watches manufacturing division. Right now what you see is majorly they assembling new watches with leftover parts or outsourced parts so they have nothing under control. However, the older watches from hmt had that quality that the watch will keep ticking even after 25 years.
People are just buying HMT for their nostalgia factor. objectively they suck big time. Went to their Bangalore showroom and was appalled by their quality control. Like the ADSL you see here, nothing is aligned, faded prints.
